Well, the songs that Tarja sang with Nightwish are as much a part of her as they are for the rest of the Nightwish members. She's been sing them longer than Annette, so I don't think anybody who has been singing a song for so long will never perform that song again after conflicts with former bandmates.
But I agree that this isn't Tarja's best performance of Nemo. :{

I find it kinda funny that Tarja still sings NW's songs...I know those are the band's songs, but wouldn't it be better for her to sing HER song? I mean; she was fired out (no opinion on that) and said she was ok with it in a certain way...Maybe the people who like Tarja for what she is would prefer she sings her songs, not the old songs of NW. She can sing this is song. In fact, it is her song as it is of Nightwish. She has an incredible voice and I don't see why she cannot sing the songs she made famous. I don't imagine, for example, hearing Tarja singing "Amaranth" or "Bye bye beautiful" (actually, it would be funny to hear her singing "bye bye beautiful") and I think Anette can sing the old song, because they are of the band , nut just of Anette.
This is confusing, from the looks of it, its like she wants to be in Nightwish even though she turned it away. So by singing the older nightwish songs she's living in her own world. The fact is she's solo, and i kinda feel weird hearing her sing nightwish songs w/ her own ppl who are not nearly as good.

Any musician can perform any song they want to perform at a venue that has a blanket license for public performances, which all public venues DO have.

Even though I think you can't compare Tarja and Anette, they are both very good in teir own way... Tarja was the cold nordic ice-queen and Anette is more down-to-earth...

Mmm. I've been trying to describe them in a sense and you just did it for me. Tarja's voice was cold, and mysterious(sp?) while Anette is warm and comforting. I thihnk it's impossible to compare Tarja and Anette. Anette is more rock-oriented while Tarja is classically trained.

If you just started listening to NW and you're not used to hearing classical vocals, that might be your first impression, but the more you listen to old Nightwish, the better they sound, where the more you listen to new Nightwish, even the songs off the album don't sound too good.
As far as live performances, Anette can't even sing Amaranth without faltering, and it's rather painful to watch and hear.
I'm sorry, I loved Tarja in Nightwish and I love this song. But it sounds really bad when not being performed by Nightwish. And I find it odd that she still performs it, especially since she didn't write it. And Anette can do the song justice. It just sounds different. Which tends to happen when a different vocalists performs a song.
But god. That guitar solo made my ears want to bleed. She could at least find a decent guitarist.

Ok...you really never heard about different tastes. I´ve been a Nightwish-Fan for many years but I have to admit that I like many of the old songs sang by Anette (for example The Siren). I didn´t go to the concert "just" because of Nightwish and since that concert I love Anette as Nightwishs "Frontgirl". Yes, songs are different but this happens when the singer changes. It is not your taste of music but dont state your opinion as a fact valid for everybody.

I'm a person who has been taking classical singing lessons for a few years and believe me, I did have the time to get in contact with different voices and learn about them. Tarja has a beautiful voice, very melodic, with a rich tone, but she is not the best. She's FAR of being the best. And I'm not talking shit, like some others do (*rolls eyes*) If she were THAT good, do you think she would accept to perform in a band? No. She would've taken Mattila as a model and go sing in the Met.
No, not ok, that's what I'm trying to explain. Tarja is worse than many other classically trained singers, but many of us can't really figure out how great her flaws are, because she chose NOT to sing opera. If she did that, it would have been obvious and disappointing. Anette, on the other hand, has a great technique in non-classical training, which makes her kick many famous arses in showbiz. Anette and Tarja can't really be compared. But I wasn't talking about Anette here, but Tarja.

Well I did not say I didn't like Tarja. I just said she's so not the best soprano ever. If you check all my comments in Youtube, you'll see I always say she has a good voice (without saying it's the best), but a crappy new band and that I would like hearing her perform her old lieds. The part that you say Arnette can sing ruins all your thoughts. I saw her live. She was one of the worst singer I ever saw in a concert. I was sad for the band and sad for her. Tarja has a great technique and a lovely voice.
I was one of the people that paid to see NW this year. I will not pay again for sure. That was comic. Pain made a great show. NW were average, Arnette was really bad. Even some boys and girls said they liked, they were just young people taking their first show.
I was one of those people who paid to see nightwish too, dude, i´m not a youngling and that wasn´t my first show, and I love Nightwish performance. I saw them in 2005 and it was very diferent, anette make a better show than tarja for sure.

I realized that there's no other band like NW for Tarja and there's no other vocalist like Tarja for NW, we are discussing: ''bad guitars, bad performance, which singer is the best, blah, blah, blah'' but there is one truth: TARJA SINGS AMAZING WITH NW AND NW PLAYES THOSE GREAT SONGS WITH TARJA. In other words:
Tarja sings this song really good, but the band sucks, no matter how harsh this sounds. The sound is raw, they're not "together", bound as a band, the sounds just don't click together. The main guitar is just out of everything, only the drums are good. Listen to this song in comparison to the Nightwish performance in Lowlands, in 2005, with Tarja. That's a band, this is not. This is a good singer with some background noise.
And, I have no freaking idea, WHY would you say that THIS performance is bad? Only thing that i don't like here is video quality, but this is live, and this is not professionally captured, AND it's definetely not Tarja's fault :P
If I had a choice of live concert: Nightwish or Tarja, I'd choose Tarja. Even if it would cost 2 times more.

Anette sings them good enough, and the creator of these songs enjoys her versions. Nightwish - it's music, not the voice. Tarja's band killed the song. Real NW song can be played only by NW, no matter who's the singer. If you like Tarja whatever she ruins: Smells Like Teen Spirit or Traviata (it was a true crime...), it's your deal. But leave NW alone.

As she was part of Nightwish for 9 years and contributed to there success and was the front woman of the biggest band out of Finland in years she has every right to cover this song. Its not all toumas dont be gullable and belive everything you read. And some people just because u maybe dont want to hear Tarja do this song again shes doing it for her fans.
I suppose his new productor bought them so she can still sing them, Most of the old NW songs are of no use to Toumas since Annete just cant sing them because well, she doesnt have the range nor the style, power, etc.

For christ' sake can be PLEASE stop comparing! The Anette vs. Tarja thing is so old now, no one cares anymore. Face it; Tarja is happy with her solo career and is doing well. Nightwish have moved on with Anette and if you don't like her voice, simply do NOT listen to Nightwish anymore! It's not that hard.
But honestly, stop comparing these two. It's not going to change anything. I am a Tarja fan and yes, I miss her with NW, but I like Anette too. If you don't, follow Tarja's career instead.

Even though I think you can't compare Tarja and Anette, they are both very good in teir own way... Tarja was the cold nordic ice-queen and Anette is more down-to-earth...
And one more fact: Anette can sing the new songs, but she does it in her own way!

Mmm. I've been trying to describe them in a sense and you just did it for me. Tarja's voice was cold, and mysterious(sp?) while Anette is warm and comforting. I thihnk it's impossible to compare Tarja and Anette. Anette is more rock-oriented while Tarja is classically trained.

If you just started listening to NW and you're not used to hearing classical vocals, that might be your first impression, but the more you listen to old Nightwish, the better they sound, where the more you listen to new Nightwish, even the songs off the album don't sound too good.
As far as live performances, Anette can't even sing Amaranth without faltering, and it's rather painful to watch and hear.

I'm sorry, I loved Tarja in Nightwish and I love this song. But it sounds really bad when not being performed by Nightwish. And I find it odd that she still performs it, especially since she didn't write it. And Anette can do the song justice. It just sounds different. Which tends to happen when a different vocalists performs a song.
But god. That guitar solo made my ears want to bleed. She could at least find a decent guitarist.

No tengo nada contra Tarja (hace algunos días me vino esta idea). pero me molesta que sea Nemo en particular, es una canción para mi ultra valiosa :). Tarja me calló bien después de la entrevista que leí sobre sus comentarios de Nightwish y Anette. Pero que no sea Nemo u.u xd, me gusta mucho más como lo hace Anette :P. Tarja me fasina solo con el tema ghost love score, me voy a la mierda,es muy hermosa esa canción, con sus grandes 8 octavas, aún así prefiero anette aunque tenga 1 octava

tarja tiene voz de soprano, por eso se la oye tan bien. anette no es soprano, su voz es mas aguda, pero lo hace bien. lo ke pasa ke las canciones de tarja parece ke son de ella y punto. son de nightwish y anette hace lo ke puede y con nota sobresaliente.
a mi me gustan las dos. pero anette es mi preferida.

Tarja tiene una tesitura de soprano, soprano= voz aguda, Anette quiza tenga un rango vocal igual al de Tarja, la verdad desconozco, lo que las hace diferentes es la técnica para cantar, una canta con "Head Voice" y la otra utiliza mucho el "Belting", Saludos.

Ok...you really never heard about different tastes. I´ve been a Nightwish-Fan for many years but I have to admit that I like many of the old songs sang by Anette (for example The Siren). I didn´t go to the concert "just" because of Nightwish and since that concert I love Anette as Nightwishs "Frontgirl". Yes, songs are different but this happens when the singer changes. It is not your taste of music but dont state your opinion as a fact valid for everybody.

I'm a person who has been taking classical singing lessons for a few years and believe me, I did have the time to get in contact with different voices and learn about them. Tarja has a beautiful voice, very melodic, with a rich tone, but she is not the best. She's FAR of being the best. And I'm not talking shit, like some others do (*rolls eyes*) If she were THAT good, do you think she would accept to perform in a band? No. She would've taken Mattila as a model and go sing in the Met.

No, not ok, that's what I'm trying to explain. Tarja is worse than many other classically trained singers, but many of us can't really figure out how great her flaws are, because she chose NOT to sing opera. If she did that, it would have been obvious and disappointing. Anette, on the other hand, has a great technique in non-classical training, which makes her kick many famous arses in showbiz. Anette and Tarja can't really be compared. But I wasn't talking about Anette here, but Tarja.

Well I did not say I didn't like Tarja. I just said she's so not the best soprano ever. If you check all my comments in Youtube, you'll see I always say she has a good voice (without saying it's the best), but a crappy new band and that I would like hearing her perform her old lieds. And please read my comments carefully before overreacting, I did not say Tarja is worse THAN ANETTE, I said she is worse than all those amazing opera singers out there. And that the 2 of them cannot be compared.

I was one of the people that paid to see NW this year. I will not pay again for sure. That was comic. Pain made a great show. NW were average, Arnette was really bad. Even some boys and girls said they liked, they were just young people taking their first show.

Tarja sings this song really good, but the band sucks, no matter how harsh this sounds. The sound is raw, they're not "together", bound as a band, the sounds just don't click together. The main guitar is just out of everything, only the drums are good. Listen to this song in comparison to the Nightwish performance in Lowlands, in 2005, with Tarja. That's a band, this is not. This is a good singer with some background noise.

Anette sings them good enough, and the creator of these songs enjoys her versions. Nightwish - it's music, not the voice. Tarja's band killed the song. Real NW song can be played only by NW, no matter who's the singer. If you like Tarja whatever she ruins: Smells Like Teen Spirit or Traviata (it was a true crime...), it's your deal. But leave NW alone.

OMG just NW sheeps posts here, if you don't know in the DVD ''End of and Era'' when they went to Sao paulo, Brasil, the interviewer asked Tarja if it was true the rumor about she were leave the band and she told her: ''IT'S NOT TRUE, IT'S JUST A RUMOR'' and that is too disresdpectful to me because there were the guys also and they didn't say anything about it because they already knew that they were going to fire her.

The way he treated tarja in that leter was so childish and imatture!Toumas is the real DIVA and obviously jealous of how big Tarja was becoming! That letter if you read it properly shows the real toumas bitter and jealous! If Tarja was not such an iconic front woman for Nightwish they wudnt be were they are. I tell you what I think of all this, NW without Tarja's voice isn't the same the same way as Tarja withouth Tuomas's music isn't the same! Its as simple as that... Tarja and NW were one brilliant combination, unfortunately her greed and her husband separated her from NW and we have to live with them in separate now. I can't talk for everybody, neither do I want to defend some idiots, but I personally watch her videos because I really much appreciated her singing with Nightwish and still appreciate it.
I chose the NW side in the 'conflict', but why couldn't I be interested the evolution of Tarja too?

Tuomas is not NW, NW is a band with 5 members because if Tuomas is the only member, OMG, this guy has eight armas and legs to play all the instruments and also to compose the songs and music .........hahahahahahha
No one in specific is NW because everybody needs everybody, in the past Tuomas needed Tarja and viceversa.
