Can you please identify your source of information for your statement comparing the lost of forest to the emissions of a coal plant? I have a very difficult time believing that statement. Lakes and rivers are not void of plant life and usually have a very diverse and full aquatic ecosystem. An aquatic ecosystem may not be as effective at CO2 - O2 conversion as a boreal forest, but I am willing to bet it comes close.

Exactly. Those mini plants were the beginning of the evolution of the "hydro electric generation". They all have the same basic principle: to dam up rivers,creeks and lakes all in the name of POWER! That is not good.

Hydro is THE ONLY good source for power humans have...and we are being raped on the price of electricity when it requires absolutely no power consumption or waste of resourses to transport..unlike oil which needs trucks, per hour labour, etc. Hydroelectricity just needs upkeeep on power lines. Everytime you want oil though someone has to drive it or pump it...
