wow, thats impressive... One of the best ive seen! But like almost every video like this ive seen, the tank doesnt quite look in place... im not sure why, but something about it doesnt seem right.
@Regent116 hahahhahahahha dude. the 3d scene was in 3ds max, not after effects. all he used ae for was the camera shake and the compositing. which by the why kan2032 is the best fumefx compositing i have ever seen along with the tank, seriously amazing dude, the guys at blur got lucky when they found you
@Regent116 You realize you have no clue what you're talking about, right? There is no vignette at ALL in this video... He was mimicking the exposure of the camera changing because of the light of the fire. Look at a real explosion. He did it just right. And what the heck does your explanation at number 3 even mean?!! Do you know anything about 3ds max OR After Effects? Explain yourself!
@grayfpx Don't remember the exact spacing, but the grids were around 500x500x500 or so, made sure to utilize most of my 8 gigs of ram, took about 2 days to sim and 2 days to render on my single quad core 8 gigs of ram. (not including the tank, which probably took another 16 hours or so to render)
@Farbenkrieg Actually, I can't remember ever doing any FumeFX tutorials. Though I've learned a lot about other things like particle flow, thinking particles, etc. through tuts, Fume seems to be one of those plugins that I just learned through trial and error, and with tips and tricks learned from co-workers.
If you wanted a Fume tutorial though, I'm sure Allan Mckay's "FumeFX Essentials" is likely very good, as his stuff usually is.

HA, now I know all your secret Paul Sheehy (uploader)
1) To make shot realistic - u added camerashake. wierd one though
2) to make shot look good, u added this wierd emo blur, I mean the blackness around the corners.. that layer probably has overlay blending mode
3)you did 3d sceen in after effects. good job there ;) so you can see that everything is 3d while u wobble camera
that's it. i can do the same now.
Well except the fumefx knowlage.
How did you do that the BOOM clouds are shaded?!??!

forget it, k?

Looking great man. You could have saved time rendering the tank putting a single render on a card though, there's no big change of perspective.

is fumefx a plugin and can it be used for maya?
ahbmal 1 year ago
@ahbmal It is a plugin, but for Max only. Maya's equivalent is Maya Fluids, which comes built in.
