I never liked the idea of naming a system 2 or with a letter to denote the change of name.

You have the Xbox and the Xbox 360, the Playstation series. I like that Nintendo keeps things unique. Maybe call it the Dolphin. :p I'm just kidding, but I do think it should have a different name. I actually like 3DS better than DS2 because to me, a number implies just an upgrade on the current system. Now, if they named it the DSOVER9000, then that would be an epic system name. :p

I don't know if people are ready for a new xbox 360 and ps3 i mean a new wii that is fine but we don't need any new xbox/ps stuff because it is just a waste of money and just like they did with the old xbox after a year or 2 of the new xbox they will shut down the internet of the last one :( and + it was only like 4 years ago when the xbox/ps3 came out and they are still some of the best consoles out there today.

Nintendo should not have called his next handheld as "3DS", that end up sounding like it was just one of the many variations of the original DS.

I do not see a problem to call their next console "Wii U",there never was a variation on the Wii for the same problem with the "3DS" be present on it.

I think Nintendo does not have to change the name of their console, but also believe that if they decide to change the name, this year's E3 is its deadline for that.

Adding a number after something tells people its the next new product. Labeling just by letters has always confused consumers. Still there was no confusion over what the DS was over the Gameboy advance. Though buyers didn't know at first that the DS was the successor to the GBA. Took awhile, but by the time DS lite came out, it proved its dominance of the portable market. If Big N called 3DS the DS2 wouldn't be that much confusion for consumers.

Well Wii has been on the marked since 05 and has sold around 94million units. Also it´s not like it´s dropping that much really, 11,8 millions bought Wii last year compared to PS3 14 millions and XBox360 13,4.

Wii is a clear winner of this generation (in sales) and most people who are interested in the Wii or Nintendo have bought it by now.

Honestly I think that they should not have the name wii in it at all. The name wii is commercial suicide. Wii U, Wii 2, Wii HD, Wii have another system. As long as it drops the name wii, which is renowned for casual gaming, it may be able to win back the hard core gamers, but a power house system will be a turn away for casual gamers (price mostly). The name wii on Nintendo's next system may kill it.
