I still prefer the DB5. Don't get me wrong, i love the E-Type aswell, but the DB5... Hmm... I think it looks better. And, the image. I mean, i believe you're gonna feel like 007 if you drive one.
@cerbman1 I know your comment is old but let me answer. You are comparing 2 different things: an Accord in a drag race and a TT on a lap around a circuit.
@cerbman1 You're making the same mistake again. The TT did not race the Accord in this video. Put it another way: if A=B and C=D, that doesn't mean that A=C.
Performance is irrelevant. Thats not what they were bought for originally. Each cars looks have their fans - Aston' classic beauty vs EType sex appeal (fill in your female equivalents here). People (especially Americans) forget that Jags had a definitely vulgar image in the '60's (scrap metal dealers). The Aston was/is deliberately overpriced. An even better illustration is the DB7 and XKR. Basically the same car but the Aston, at over double the price, sold like hotcakes!
As I watched this video I had a vision of a very wealthy and intensely nervous man watching as The Stig drives his car (especially the DB5) around the track. Yes, the Jag sounds amazing IMHO.
Slower than a Range Rover. I keep wanting to buy a classic car, but the old farts who own them overvalue them while never driving them. They are just pieces of garage furniture to them. Cars from the 80's look better and better every year.
I would still get the aston, its just cooler. And I would get everything modernized from the engine coolant system to my suspension. That is World Class fine.
They didn't mention how old cars don't have 6 airbags, different "modes", and could be worked on by their owners. With todays cars theres so much stuff under the hoods in such tight areas and even then count on obtrusive styling to give you trouble too!
Would everyone be such a DB5 fan if it hadn't been promoted so well in the James Bond movie? I think the Jag is by far the more beautiful car, and obviously by far the faster of the two. If Jag had given one of the E types to Roger Moore to drive for the Saint series (as was planned by the producers) I think the E type would be even more popular than the DB5 today.
1960s is almost like the British Leyland period where cars are only made to go n stop at your destination n who cares about engineering but i gotta admit both cars are beautiful n during the 1960s their performance r greater than any cars during hat period....well.... apart from Ferrari but they are good during the 60s u gotta admit that
In my opinion the 60's produced the best looking cars of all and that includes American ones as well. You can't argue with a 62' Corvette or the original ford gt40.
@DyeTyme i agree as i was in Singapore 2 weeks before, i saw a China brand called Chery copying a design from a Chevy Spark!!! WTF?!?!? Are china really sucking in making car? If yes than do not make cars just continue making rifles... like Russia
Its not that slow. For a hand built car, made in 1964, not designed to be a supercar it goes pretty well. Then being compared to modern day, one of a kind cars which are designed only for performance and too go fast.
@TheSheepboy007 Atleast they're quicker then old VWs, Beetles look good but you'll need to do some work if you're going to win any races, or sign up for Herbie Goes to this foriegn country.
@NobleM15fan Trust me, I absolutely love that car, and I think there are 2 or 3 cars that look better than it: DB5, DB7, and possibly DB9 (hard to compare an E Type to a DB9, though, so I left it out)
@872463051 I prefer the original Vantage to the DB5 (in its day, the original V8 Vantage was called "The Gentleman's Mustang". DB5's still a very good looking car though.

Audi TT V6 vs Honda Accord, which is quicker? The Audi, of course, so how could the Jaguar lose to a Honda but equal the Audi?
cerbman1 10 months ago
@cerbman1 the original was slower than the honda but the tested the modernized Jag
xX01RKXx 7 months ago
@xX01RKXx It's the same car, look at the number plate. Clarkson is not completely honest, many things to do with him are staged.
cerbman1 7 months ago
@cerbman1 if that is the same car than that means that a honda accord is faster than audi tt which is completely false
xX01RKXx 7 months ago
@xX01RKXx Exactly, I rest my case.

Can't believe they actually took those things around the track. I'd be way too afraid to do that. You can't replace these things easily.
