Are you not aware, instanttraveller, by the way you have spelt it incorrectly, that Spanish has been spoken in North America much longer than English. Consult your history but I have a feeling that Anglophone Americans are not instructed about the real historical facts of the U.S. Ponce de León was the first coloniser to establish a settlement in San Agustín. Furthermore, just look at the names of 1000s of toponyms, e.g. Los Ángeles, San José, Florida, Colorado, Oregón, Montaña etc... : )

But how is that going to affect the fact, the theme throughout all of my videos that children, born in the United States are not learning English well, and that is putting them at a disadvantage in the world that now depends on English. @1seckelman If you lived over here you would realise that languages are important e.g. in the United Kingdom if I want to work in Wales as a teacher, which I am, I would have to learn Cymraeg, as per law. If Hispanophones do not want to learn American English then so what? They have services in Spanish now. @1seckelman As a Spaniard I am glad you acknowledge the Spanish heritage in the US in the first place, which many others don't. Of course the US have always been predominantly an Anglo-Saxon, English-speaking, Common-law country, and inmigrants should learn that language in order to integrate into mainstream America. A "No English, No Citizenship" makes perfect sense to me. But Spanish shouldn't be regarded as "just another" foreign language either, "alien" to the US. History proves otherwise.

Having different languages is no menace to a nation. Here in Britain we have English, Welsh and Scottish Gaelic, plus Cornish to a lesser extent so do not fear it.

I live in the Twins Cities and we don't have the large minority communities like they have down south. Why does it primarily seem to be hispanics in Largely Spanish-speaking communities who have the most trouble learning English? Look, you don't have to be here many generations to have success in America. Many Ethnic groups have proven that, including many Latino's, Asians, Arabs, Africans, Europeans, Indians, etc.

we should all bebilingual, never sacrafice ur language or culture for adjusting to a new one. Education wise,our ability to learn has more to do with

cultural,economic factors. Learning english doesn't eliminate fear, discrimination. Many learn english, but aren't as resourceful as an American whose lived here 4 generations or who've economic access to information.

So u may remain in ugly financial/education cycle if u don't have money, connections, higher education & r discriminated against.

No way in the world can 90 % of Spaniards have degrees when 15% of the whole population is under 14 years old and about 10 % are immigrants from other countries. Actually only 38 % of Spaniards have a college degree and 45 % a high school diploma. That is contrast to the United States where 85 % of people have at least a high school diploma. Get your facts correct, PLEASE.
