the worst part was, someone (possibly me) was farting and the train had shit circulation. Thankfully, I'm 187cm, and was the one in the middle holding onto the roof keeping everyone standing. Fuck that, i think i'll take the cab in japan.

Now people can arrive at any time in, I think, a 2 hour window, so the same number of people travel on a much larger number of trains.
If I was in one of the trains I would attempt to make an unobvious gap between me and the wall and stay still while packing. Then when it looks like almost everybody is in, move away from the next person and enjoy my spot in the corner.
I am not, but I have my reasons why I do not like Asian Women and so do others. If you would not like to know then do not reply. I can tell you in full detail exactly why I'd rather not be in that train. I am guessing you are a "Koreanophile."

I've lived in Japan many years and I have lived in cities with populations with people of all races and have learned that not all people have the same views are the same and different people look different and have different attitudes, but if you've decided you want to hate about half the women in the world and stick with your own, or had some bad experience, enjoy... its a free country.

The people don't want to take the next train cause they are on schedule, so they have to be pushed this way. I was in Tokyo in 2008, and I love their Subway system and trains, I just never did the rush hour. I think as a tourist it's fine to avoid Rush Hour and just chill out til it's over, then go out and ride. I'm an American and I totally think Japan is cool.

if you are near the door, you get off, let people off, then get back on. almost intuitive, no? you are standing in someone's way, so you move. I saw some drunken Americans standing right at the doors on a train in Tokyo who couldn't grasp the concept. That was also really funny to watch. They were holding on for dear life as a mass of people tried to get off the train. It was as if they thought the train would leave without them, or they'd have to pay again just for stepping onto the platform.
what I would like to know is how many people suffocated and how many had their bones broken etc. this is not funny. anyone who has a teeniest bit of empathy and/or who can at least imagine, if not remember how it feels to be squashed that way should feel sick instead of laughing.

seriously, this happens only on 2 or 3 trains out of 500 in the tokyo area. In the 3 months Ive lived in Tokyo Downtown Ive never seen anything like this.

if you are near the door, you get off, let people off, then get back on. almost intuitive, no? you are standing in someone's way, so you move. I saw some drunken Americans standing right at the doors on a train in Tokyo who couldn't grasp the concept. That was also really funny to watch. They were holding on for dear life as a mass of people tried to get off the train. It was as if they thought the train would leave without them, or they'd have to pay again just for stepping onto the platform.

Keep in mind that this was taken in 1991. It's less crowded in 2008 (See "Less Crowded in 2008"). I've been riding trains like this (a little less crowded recently) for 24 years now. They're not fun, but I've never seen anyone die from it. - LHS

Facts: This was taken in 1991 on the Seibu-Ikebukuro Line. It's not so bad now thanks to flextime and also increased numbers of both trains and train lines. The original title was "Actually Full Train in 1991 (Why Flex-Time is a Good Idea)" (posted to Google Videos and then copied all over the place). Considering the amount of misunderstanding it has been generating, I'm sorry I posted it at Google Videos in the first place. - LHS
