@DavrosTheGreatHealer It's a gargantuan film that knows everything. Nolan in this movie alone predicted the 2008 recession, the failure of Obama, and the London and France underclass riots(the movie predicts a worldwide riot, actually). It also shows how poor people can be faked into applauding a billionaire's suppressive antics if he acts like us. In this trailer alone we see how Bruce is convinced to abandon his father's benignity and pick up Ras' pessimism as the proper way to live.
@Tripp393 The political and ethical messages a film provides dont make them less or more boring though. I viewed the film from the perspective of a Batman fan and it was boring, in my opinion, to the nth degree.
@DavrosTheGreatHealer That in my opinion is closer to the correct interpretation to the film than those who say it's a "good" film. In my opinion one can only praise this film or hate it, anyone in between is never going to understand this film. The movie blew my mind from beginning to end, so I expect someone out there to be bored by it from beginning to end.
This movie was the best comic book movie until the Dark Knight came out. It is a great origin story and has plenty of great moments. I'm not sure how you can love the Dark Knight but hate this.
I want to take this trailer, just the trailer, into a time machine and go back to 1966, and track down Adam West. "Look at this," I'd say. "LOOK! AT!! THIS!!! YOU SEE ANY SHARK REPELLENT HERE?!"
it's so much better than TDK... and soon the world will notice, at least if the ledger-hype and hyteria ends some day and bale get's the recognition for his brillance he deserves
@Schnulzenfan0207 People like you piss me off. Dude these were practically the same mvoie. I cant understand why you would go so far as to hate on any one of them. This is Nolan's work. he's made comic-book history twice now. Why does one of his movies HAVE to be considered shitty by some? This gave me a long-forgotten feeling of excitement and acnticipation as well as pride. TDk was able to give me the same feeling yet again. They are both incredible and dont need to be compared but viwed whole
@Schnulzenfan0207 It's not the ledger hype. I loved that the plot kept me guessing. And yes, there is one. A very simple plot, actually. Joker acts out elaborate schemes of trickery, violence, and bribes to orchestrate an amount of chaos in order to try and prove his point that man is a violent, instinctual creature.
Yeah man they said it was boring because the first half of the movie is just bruce wayne as a kid playing around well i have to agree this movie is really boring at the negining what do you think ?
@alaindiazaran You mean the temple scenes no those explains batman's past and they're the best...but maybe you like the batmobile scenes or the city panic however batman begins was the 2nd greatest batman movie after (The Dark Knight) did you watch it??
yes i watched the dark knight but TDK is completely different it begins with action not telling a story like batman begins batman begins boo the dark knight bow down
@alaindiazaran There is a story in TDK. It's elaborate and requires a lot of focus, but essentially the Joker's just trying to make people kill each other to survive. Orchestrated Chaos being the methods.
@kordian012 TDK supposedly takes place one year after Batman Begins, I actually like this movie alittle bit better than TDK, it was more focused on plot and the psychology of the Batman character than is was on purely the villains like Harvey Dent and Joker in the, it was almost as if Batman took a backseat and became a secondary character in TDK, it was mostly about Harvey and the Joker.
@CommanderSavage there is a black and white story "two of a kind" from Bruce Timm in comics "Batman black and white" :) in this story Harvey Dent is in the center of a :) this is my favorite short story :) must read :) I also like ""Case Study", here Joker is in a center :)
They told me there was nothing out there, nothing to fear...
but the night my parents were murdered I caught a glimpse of something. I've looked for it ever since.
I went around the world. Searched in all the shadows. And there is something out there in the darkness, something terrifying, something that will not stop until it gets revenge...
Zsasz lives for killing, only this. The presence of the Scarecrow was less developed compared to his real ego, Jonathan Crane, but he became my fav. villain in the series. Ras'Al Ghul is great here too (a "living immortal"). He's dead, but not really. (Batman AA is nice to know the characters). It's crazy that we didn't see the Joker as the first vilain in the new series... but some underrated villains can become interesting. A great movie for fans.
I think these new Batman films are what the new James Bond films SHOULD have been. They portray a more serious, realistic, gritty, character-driven version of the charactet, but, very importantly, WITHOUT sacrificing the gadgets and spectacular comic-book action the fans adore. Bond went gritty but, mistakenly in my opinion, abandoned the near-future technology, e.g. laser watches. Batman rightly includes sonic vision and the batmobile, etc.
@AchillesEightyThree Wow, very well put. I was thinking something like this when I watched Quantum of Solace, thinking they'd made it too pedestrian and had taken away all that we had enjoyed from every previous Bond film and essentially discarded the amazing elements to make it more 'real'. What a mistake. There is a very interesting correlation here between these two reboots and how one succeed immensely and one sadly failed.
These new Batman movies transcend the superhero genre. Spiderman 2 is a fantastic superhero movie. Superman is a good superhero movie. But even when compared to character dramas or classic crime thrillers, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are exceptional movies. Nolan and all the actors did a brilliant job and I can't wait for the third movie. I'd love to see how they fit Catwoman into Nolan's quasi-realistic take on Gotham City.
@dolphingurrl1 Batman isn't my favourite superhero. BUT: His movies are the BEST! I wish that Marvell (the comics I like better) will have movies like this as well) Christopher Nolan is a genius.
@davick1 Wait till you see what he dose to Superman man of steel!! thank god DC have Nolan! he saved them, Marvel had been making the best movies before Batman Begins!
Marvel's movies only started picking up with Iron Man.
