  • that had a perfect launch, almost no tire spin.

  • can I get one with a sbc?

  • @Warblade118 yeah sure if you have the time money and resources but it wouldnt be a 10 second car

  • @eaglesdood16 Even though my comment was kind of a joke why wouldn't it run 10's with a small block chevy? The engine that's in the atom in this video makes 450HP, a small block 383, for example, would have absolutely no trouble at all making 450HP. Hell, I think you could buy crate engines with that much power. Probably weigh more than the engine it has in the video, but a hell of a lot cheaper.

  • @Warblade118 A 383 engine is probably bigger than the whole Atom car.

  • @FreemanAndCo Well I said it was only an example, didn't I? Besides, an all aluminum ohv V8 only weighs about 450lbs and is about 25in long, 21in high ( with carb, no air cleaner), and 21ins wide (no exhaust) it could fit. If they can shoehorn one into a crx, you could fit one in an atom.

And as I said before, the comment WAS kinda a joke.

  • more like 150 hp,this car is a 1000lbs,500 kilo's,with 450 hp this is almost 1000 horsepower per ton.It should, set up properly go in the 8 second range at 160 plus. The math says it should go 7.60 at 175 mph in the quarter.

  • @inagod Go on their website, there is a 300 HP option... Oh and they got a V8 500 HP version coming out. Research shit before you comment dip.

  • I have a supercharged SVT focus and it sounds identical to the atom, unfortunately its half as fast :(

  • @c4menace and a ford

  • hey i would say 4 secs no way the drive shaft could be able to take all that strain it would buckle i say a 1 sec and i say maby 1 sec lol plus deppends on the driver .... can he shift ????

  • yea that motor is capeable of achieving around 8-900+horsepower to the wheels :) it runs tens with like 450ish and a lil supercharger running MAYBE 12-15lbs. k20s can run 32safely on a STOCK MOTOR,that car can easily see 6-7seconds the way it is with simply building the motor and shit dude

  • I agree with part of what you say but....dude....Where in the hell did you hear K20's can handle 32 lbs of boost on STOCK internals? Unless you meant 32 lbs of boost safely for a WEEK, you extremely mistaken.

BUT, with a good engine build and a fat turbo boosting that K20 to anywhere between 6 and 900 whp, (being that this sweet little Atom is RWD), 7 second 1/4 miles are very realistic for how light this car is. 6 sec 1/4 mile's would take a disgusting amount of money, but still 100% possible.

  • NOT supercharged and NOT a stock engine

Turbo charged (as you can see at the rear of the car there is the intercooler)

    Fully built engine.

The car was never ment to be a drag car. It was running street tyres when it did that pass

  • I liked Veyron ,then ariel'(ek)...

    Fuvk bike and...()

  • and only 25 times as expensive!!!!!!

wow adding "veyron is faster" to car vids on youtube.

    you win at the internets!

  • hah what a turd!

  • lol turd

  • hey buddy your a fucking retard. Thats a honda motor in that bitch, so that means its the power of dreams lol. Turbo it and fully build it and have that fucker at around 88whp and you'll prolly run 7s or 6's!!! NO PROBLEM cause it only weighs 1300lbs

  • What muppet would build a 2.0 ltr engine to make 800 hp? And who would put a turbo on a car which is fun and fast because of the quick pick-up from na engine or super charger?

The Atom is not meant for drag racing so get notions of 'NOS' and slicks out your head...some people just don't get certain cars.

  • @jonnytooze choosing the right turbo can make a smooth broad powerband that starts at 2500 to 3krpm you can autocross or track, its only the dyno queens that use massive turbos and get a max hp tune that have that ridiculous turbo lag

  • listen fucktard, theres no way that turbocharging it would get its time down by 4seconds!

  • i like the one with the cobalt supercharged engine in it. i havent driven the honda 1 but im sure the power is about the same. bad ass car either way

  • almost same price ,eh?

  • wow!!!! that thing is brilliant

  • That 150hp boost doesn't really show here...

  • over a second faster in the quarter and it doesn't show?

  • It would have been faster if he had stayed out of the rev limiter, good mechanics cant spell.

  • If you helped put it together, you probably wouldn't use the abbreviation "cos". And you would probably spell "engine" correctly, aswell. Besides, the Stig using a stock atom 300 on Top Gear was faster than this, as was Clarkson in the same car, this was actually kinda slow.

  • This Atom has a eninge built by CPL racing.

The car was given to CPL without a engine and CPL put a fully built turbochagered race engine in it as well as other stuff.

    The enigne makes 464bhp.

I know all this cos i helped to put some of it together.

  • The atoms come in both an ecotec version and a vtec version. The ecotecs run from 140hp, 205, 225, 245 and 300hp. The 205hp ecotec will do 0-60 in 3.3 sec and the 300hp in under 2.8 or 2.7. Ebutruo is right though, that one right there is a custom one-off vtec that was turbo'd and is making around 400 hp give or take.

  • this particular atom has been turbocharged. its not really that much faster than a "stock" 300hp supercharged atom.

  • wow... is that the stock engine thats been modded or did they swap it

  • The Atom comes from the Ariel factory with several power options of 220, 275 and 300hp. This is a one off hand built Ariel Atom capable of over 450bhp. The engine is a Civic Type-R which has been completely re built to the highest specification. The power to weight ratio is over 900 bhp per ton! and gets to 60mph in under 3 secs.
