I think the final scene of this movie is one of the most haunting screen images I've ever seen. A dirty, bedraggled young girl, dressed in the ragged remains of her dead sister's finery, alone, homeless (I don't call living in an abandoned, condemned building a home) singing an absurdly cheery song while walking along the abandoned railroad tracks. The camera pans back, giving the viewer a wide view of the sad, filthy, empty railroad yard. One of the saddest endings I've ever seen in a movie.
@cynthiacher I TOTALLY AGREE. I WISH I COULD IN THERE. IN THOSE DAYS. NATILE HAS GOT TO BE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN IN THE WORLD ' THEN AND NOW. NOBODY COMPARES TO HER CHARM AND WIT AND BEAUTY
@myrna2381 Well yes, that's true. But I really liked it. It's very underrated and it contains one of Natalie Wood's best performances. She was SO beautiful in this!
Love this movie and loved this song. I sang it to my daughter when she was a baby and it always calmed her and put her to sleep. I changed the words a bit so it was just for her. "wish me a rainbow, wish me a star. A wish you can wish me wherever you are. Tears for my pillow and stars for my eyes. I love you little Jeana, kiss, kiss night, night." She's 17 now and still remembers it.
I loved this movie. As a matter of fact, my first date with my very first boyfriend was spent at a drive-in watching it. It was chocked full of stars, Natalie Wood, Robert Redford, Charles Bronson, Robert Blake, just to name a few. I thought Natalie was beautiful even before her WSS days. RIP, Natalie.
@KellyGreen5555 You are very welcome Kelly!! I really love this film too & I wish it was more appreciated. Natalie & Robert had a great chemistry in the film & Natalie really lights up the screen. I have seen this movie tons of times & never get tired of it.
@KellyGreen5555 I can't tell you how many years I have been searching for this film. For some unkown reason it is imprinted on my heart and soul. I'm sitting here with tears streaming and remembering when I last watched this beautiful romantic movie...Thankyou thankyou
2:21....... spitting image of Catherine Zeta Jones! Thank you for sharing this MV!!! Her screen chemistry with Robert Redford was magical to watch. Natalie was so special and still so missed today. RIP Miss Wood.
@1cherrylane You know you're right she does look just like Catherine Zeta Jones in that clip. You're welcome..I'm glad you enjoyed it so much!! I love romantic movies & the pairing of Natalie & Robert was like you say magical!! :)
Thank you for your kind words for Natalie...I miss her too.
@1cherrylane I think Catherine Zeta has a pretty face, but Natalie possessed a classically beautiful one. Natalie also had such nuance and humour in her acting; I think Zeta Jones lacks both.
@leudrerrep Hey Stu!! I'm glad you liked my video so much!! :)
I had a feeling that you didn't get it so I figured I'd send it again..YT always has some kind of glitch..LOL!!
I can't get the song out of my head either but that's how it is with all my videos because I go over them so many times that I permanantly have the song stuck in my head so I know what you mean but with a great song it's o.k. :)
@BadZKarma99 Katie, I am a big Natalie fan too. She made so many wonderful movies. And this one has to be one of my favorites. She left us far too soon.... Janna
@ja3399 Hi Janna!! I have been a fan ever since I saw her in Miracle on 34th St. She was an amazing actress & made some fantastic films..she also was a very beautiful, loving & kind woman & sadly she left us way too soon.
Thankfully we have her image & talent forever immortilized onscreen. :)
you did a beautiful job on this...))

did you see jessica walter as t he nutcase in PLAY MISTY FOR ME opposite clint eastwood?
study her role and ask yourself one question:
could catherine zeeta jones play this role?
in fact, could ANY OTHER ACTRESS have played it so well?

Loved this movie, I just watched it for the very first time on NetFlix after reading about it in a new Biography about Robert Redford.

Catherine Zeta-Jones is a pretty woman but IMO Natalie Goddess Wood was definitely in a league of her own.
