too bad the company went under and was sold in auction for 1 pound. sad no secopnd part. i hope another company will buy rights and produce HW 2. one of the best games i've ever played.
@HDN630 The problem with the game was one of two things, no multiplayer - a game with this much scope and difficulty would have a great multiplayer backing, but it would, and proved, to be too difficult to be viable. The other point was marketing. The game wasn't sold for what is was, and was largely ignored. More's the pity honestly, I still think back at the missions and enjoy the new strategies I think up even now.
And such inspiring exclamations by the 'pilots' such as : "Ha Ha fuck you", "I think I can wipe my own ass", "I'm nearly fucking dead", "Yo blow dat bitch away"
One of the most underestimated games ever...even today, it's still one of the best game I've played cause of the story, innovative gameplay and music...today games are so similar and superficial and focus on multiplayer mainly and that makes the game market worse every day...i wish that there was a sequel to this...
I loved this game - gonna get it out again! Story written by Warren Ellis (of Ultimate Fantastic 4, Iron Man, Dr. Who and Judge Dredd fame!), Tom Baker (a Doctor Who!), Paul Darrow and Glynis Barber (she from Dempsey and Makepiece and both from Blakes 7 the sci-fi TV series!), what is there not to love sound wise 0 and with graphics still good enough for today and gameplay to die for, everyone should search this game out!
One of the reasons I've bough the Level magazine back in 2001 was because it came with this game for free. It was a great game , not demanding on the system resurces , good enough graphics, and a very nice gameplay. The music is also nice and very suited. I recommend that you play it. It will give you a new perspective.
i have this game, but it's been a LONG time since i played it...i read that it didn't catch on mainly because it has no multi-player mode. p.s., in case you didn't know, the narration is by Tom Baker!
does anyone know how I can get the menu music? i love it but it's an extension I cannot open with any media player.Does anyone know a converter or some way to get that music in a mp3 or other audio format? Thx
its 22050khz stereo 16 bit raw wav, you could add a header manually, or use a 'load raw' option in a utility like SoundForge, specify settings, then you could re-save the file, good luck
Do you think that a copy shipped from Europe will work on a computer in the USA? I'm pretty sure that there was a second release for the US two months after the UK release.
A multiplayer mode would have been fantastic to play, but when you think about it, it would be amazingly hard to impliment, unless you make certain restrictions
where can i get this game now?

I don't understand people who criticise this game, for me, it is still an awesome game, with a really cool story, and quite good graphics.
I really enjoy this experience with Visconti and Magellan :)

Supreme game. A twisted Carrier Command for the 21st century. Just never 'discovered' by the masses. :(
I never did quite finish it, but I loved the sick plot.

One of the greater story lines to follow in single.

Yeah, it probably wouldn't be the same game. Just wishful thinking for more Hostile waters action. ;)
Any idea who the artist was that did the musical scores? Everything about this game is simply awesome, perfect harmony.

Awesome game. Superb game-engine, storyline and interface. I can't believe they never added multiplayer or released a Hostile Waters 2....
