Catastrophism isn't a new phenomena.

What seems to be under appreciated in these solar system crossing extra solar object postulations whether planets, brown dwarfs, or neutron stars is the total catastrophic effect an object like this would have on the orbits of the planets around the sun based on the inescapable laws of physics.

Newton's law of universal gravitation, (The force is proportional to the product of the two masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.) would already have caused very observable detrimental effects on planetary orbits. A brown dwarf, think planet Jupiter size mass, or a neutron star have significant gradational effects. The closer a mass this size gets to our solar system the greater the effect its mass would have on our planets orbits.

The solar system planets orbits aren't changing therefore there is no planetary, brown dwarf, or neutron star mass object close by and getting closer.

The design of our solar system is extremely fine tuned and the earth is in a very narrow habitat for life zone orbit. Perturbations in the orbits of the planets would take hundreds of thousands of years for a new equilibrium (as we have now) it be established and there would be no guarantee the earth would still be in a life habitual zone.

@FOR87884 on the contrary lots of evidence to show our solar system has had many catastrophic effects-earths tilt, devastation of mars atmosphere,our moon was once a planet, neptune spinning on horizontal axis, asteroid belt, venus cataclysm, rings of saturn(lunar debris), and many more. something has had a number of devastating effects on our solar system. also much evidence to say ours a binary system as are most star systems.99.99% earth life extinct from cosmic disasters.

This Marshall Masters guy is a phony crook. He has no credentials in the field of science, other than when he was a CNN producer for their Science Segment. He spreads this fear about Planet X, and has cleverly changed his position whenever his predictions were wrong. He claims to care about humanity, and he criticizes the US monetary system and yet he is making money off of peoples fear. And to top it off he isn't qualified to even make these crazy predictions calling Comet ELenin Niburu
