  • humiliating , yes, But no respect never for the Japanese , their treatment of POWs , the Japanese with this Bullshit Honour mentality and disrespect for surrendered soldiers. Now we know that Truman had to use the Bombs 3 years later.

  • today it is 70 years ago.tha tomoyuki yamashita took singapore.

  • Jap new generation will never know what that their ancestor did to have the country being so advanced and prosper today. Some Jap only know when they are on Sg history tour and the brutal truth of how men, baby and woman being rape, shot or kill by their people. How they torture people. If all they want are food and oil, why would they need to do the unnecessary thing? Authority bring out the beast in human. Things you had today are exchange by all the people's blood, not only in Sg, other too!

  • @kkll02 You should learn the whole detail on the textbook controversies. It is an excessive Hyperbole to state that the Japanese youngs are not learning anything about WWII. The main debate is the replacement of the term "invasion" with "advancing" This is the infamous neighboring country clause that caused a great controversy. The matter is not whether if Japan is educating about WWII. If you take what people say on youtube seriously you'll endup with a massive misunderstanding.

  • @Amagusdrop You don't have to side with the Japan next generation. I don't do my arguement based on youtube here. It is a well-known fact that japan younger generation know nuts about the WW2. No matter what term, the brutal truth, they never know. Have you even seen the crap apology that japan official mention in public years ago? It's so disappointing that they don't know what they say sorry for. It's disgraceful and insincere, they can't even do a proper closing on it.

  • @kkll02 perhaps you should take a few more classes in English before subjecting the rest of us to your horrible grammar/spelling.

Oh and Jap is a racist epithet not allowed on youtube, i don't run around yelling CHINK at people(no matter how ignorant) so you might have the same degree of respect/civility. Somehow i'm sure this is falling on deaf ears..... Oh and for the record my family served on the American side of the war

  • @kokkashugisha What a low class brat, another idiot who doesn't know how to attack people and resort to this level. If you're so good at it, go and be a english lecturer, contribute something to the society than waste your time behind a screen. And you don't run around yelling CHINK when you capitalise it, i really pity you and your horrible attitude that you DO DOUBLE STANDARD AND DON'T PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH. Lastly, WHO CARES ABOUT YOUR FAMILY SERVING WHO?!

  • @kkll02 It was capitalized to make a point, which you are obviously too dense to get. As far as my family serving, i mentioned it to point out i side with American and not Japan, but i will call out idiots like you who throw around racial slurs or consider wikipedia a credible source (lol). By the way, i am an English teacher so i do 'lecture' in it.

  • At the end of the day, the lesson for anyone is that, you will protect your own interest and your home. Nobody will do that for you unless they are also in the same boat as you, left without a choice, that is when the world or different people come together united and help one another. But if it isn't the same cause, without reason, nobody give a damn about what happen to your country as it isn't happening in our country. We got to be independent and depend on ourself only, never others.

  • Actually don't think too highly of the Americans, they don't meddle without a cause. They did not make the atomic bomb to save Sg. They did it to get back at the Jap that drop a bomb at Pearl Harbour. I don't know if they had sign an agreement not to bomb the country as i read in one book but the Jap did anyway. This is why Americans only drop one atomic bomb and telling them to back off. Hiroshima had some worthy deep damages which take years to recover and forces the Jap to surrender.

  • @kkll02 to correct myself: two atomic bomb in hiroshima and nagasaki but the greater damages is still with hiroshima and that jap government ignore the warning given out by the US, that goes to show how arrogant they are, belittling a big country like US, let alone smaller country like Sg, they certainly don't give a hoot about it, as if, they gain the right to snatch things from other country as if it is their own! It's a price to pay for thinking with a big head.

  • @kkll02 yes, the Americans are so evil, only saved China and all of Asia. RED China is soooo much better, killing more of it's own citizens than any invader ever did, hooray for Mao!

  • @kokkashugisha This is your attitude problem that doesn't represent the whole of US, i am glad that i still met good Americans unlike you, know what this means: bad apples are everywhere, since your english is so good, i don't think i need to explain more. Go check the wikipedia, the US work together with the UK and Republic of China to force Japan to surrender. If everyone think like you during war, it will never end.

  • Another documentary show that when Jap taking control and starting to blow apart of Sg, the Brit feel that things are getting too dangerous for their wife and children to stay and send them home, while the Sg people look on, at the port, thinking to themselves, we only had ourselves to defend and face the Jap. The Brit won't be there to help us anymore. Ironic thing is Brit can't stay by us when we face the worse but got the cheek to come back and want to rule us that is why the bad impression.

  • to children

  • I learnt bout this in my social studies lesson(yes, I'm too young for YouTube) I wonder why Japanese doesn't want to admit they started the war

  • Yes, Japanese are polite but when it comes to a war, you know the fact

  • I dun wan 2 DiE!!!!!

  • ごめんなさい.i am not from Japan but I learn Japanese

  • Can't understand anything that old geriatric is saying.

  • The surrender did not take place in a bank. It took place in the Ford Motor Factory in Bukit Timah Road. The site still stands and is now the home of the Singapore National Archives. This video contains quite a few historical innaccuracies.

  • Wow the British really got smashed in that campaign. No wonder we didn't learn it in history lessons!

  • im a singaporean and thanks to the americans we won the war. Anyway we are not in the british rule because during the war british only protect their country but not singapore so singaporeans prefer self-government

  • The British didn't even care about the Singapore and the Singaporeans. And why would've they? Singapore was only their COLONY and the British only colonized it for the territorial gain for their Empire. Nothing more nothing less. That only was how the Western colonies in African & Asia were in the westerner's view.

  • funny, it seemed that Japs were awesome. Don't forget the British main force had to stay in Europe.

  • @217andersen Awesome? Nah, the Japanese exterminated 20 Million Chink civilians in WW2. The more random kills than the Germans on Jews. But yeah this was the only battle/war where the non-westerner defeat a western nation. This is something what the Japanese can be proud of.

  • Let this be a lesson to everyone, not just Singaporeans. Stand up on your own two feet and don't depend on anyone. Don't be complacent and know that freedom is not free.

That being said, peace to all.

    From a fellow Singaporean.

  • fuck war, peace to everybody

  • full of shit, the japanese said they will not hurt us if we surrendered, look what happened after we surrendered

  • @MrOldestPerson I heard that the Japanese soldiers tossed Singaporeans into bomb craters and then buried them alive. Is that true?

  • Who's Singaporean here??? I am and thnx to Americans,Singapoire is safe again!!!!

  • @MissyCherryLuver2000 u got an american dick up your ass? Thanks to them we lost the war too

  • That is Japanese past. Japanese people will have to face the music.

  • thanks british

  • 4:00

  • No offence, but Japan if your watching this, look what you did to the poor innocent lives

  • 1942 singapore masih dalam malaya yang memerdeka kan singapore adalah askar melayu ketika itu

  • broader picture,

yamashita had 3 division with regard to the operation in singapore,

but there were other division sweeping through sumatra and he could call on them if need be,

added to this the royal navy was virtually destroyed n royal air force was impotent against the zero which seem to everywhere because of their range.Percival had no chocie but to surrender which his staff concur.

  • I'm surprised they didn't take down Sir Stanford's statue.

  • lolz what with the protect a cow ?? tumb up

  • forgive japan's past mistake - they changed already

  • @fanmbv31 i want to say sorry on tv

  • @paulandalfred along with ur grandfather.

  • Some British, US, and more generally ignorant Anglosaxon fucks often mock the French for their defeat against Germans in 1940, who was one of the rare French defeat in the long French history, but these turds never talk about Singapore fall or Pacific war in general, who was a disaster for English or US troops, the first 2 years.

    Bizarre, no ?

  • @Camarale cuz the French haven't won a war since napoleon

  • @SKTERBOY3221

You should open the right history books. Main WW1 battles were won by the French, like VERDUN in 1916, which is considered as the greatest battle ever by all real historians, with almost 1 million casualties on both French and German sides. The French lost 1,4 million killed and 4,5 million woundeds in WW1, for a population of 40 million..German population in 1914 or 1940 was almost twice, more than 70 million. It's easier to fight, when you can put more men on the battlefiled.

  • @Camarale "WAR", not battles

  • @SKTERBOY3221

I would say the same for US. WW1 was a collective victory, even if most of main battles were won by the French, as most of WW1 was fought on French soil. Apart the French,The most important allied WW1 contribution was made by British troops. Same thing for WW2. It was a collective victory. Even if US help was vital on western front, from 1943 to 1945, the biggest contribution was made by Soviets, from 1941 to 1945. It's there that 80% of German war machine was really destroyed.

  • @SKTERBOY3221

Even if Soviet casualties were appaling, around 4 million German soldiers were killed on eastern front, in 4 years. Not even 1 million on the whole main west campaign who was less than 2 years. US never won a REAL war alone. Spanish American war was a minor war. Maybe the sole real victory was during the Pacific war, but this campaign was a part of WW2.

  • @Camarale They all helped...do not minimize the U.S. contribution...without the America, the Brits and Russians could never have defeated Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany....that is a fact...and I say that as

a Canadian.....so many anti american idiots on the internet spewing their ignorance ad nauseum!

  • @Albertanator

I don't minimize US contribution. I know that they supplied Soviet Union with a lot of trucks, tanks, and various weapons and vehicles, but the blood price for final victory was mostly pais by Russians. They lost 27 million casualties in this war. US losses were only 416800, on all fronts, less than the French,600000.And this war was not on US oil. US contribution on western front, was above all made by air forces, who really heavily damaged German forces, industry, and cities.

  • @SKTERBOY3221

US WW1 involvment was useful, but almost a joke compared to tremendous French and German casualties. Not even 130000 killed, for 6 months of real fights, in 1917/1918, while the French held most of the front almost alone, from 1914 until 1918. In May/June 1940, the French lost 100000 killed and inflicted 45000 fatalities and 111000 woundeds to Germans, before to give up. All Europe was crushed by Blitzkrieg. England was saved by the Channel. Russians lost 4 million prisoners.

  • @SKTERBOY3221

It would have been funny to see US troops facing the Blietzkrieg. Not pretty.US army was a joke in 1940.Most of the job againt Germans was made by US air force in 1944. After WW2, the French won their main battles in Vietnam, from 1945 to 1954, without almost any air support, except the last one, Dien Bien Phu, in 1954, because everything was already fixed with Vietnamese for the French withdrawal. The French were victorious in Algeria, from 1954 to 1962.Algerians were crushed.

  • @SKTERBOY3221

Once again,it was a political decision.Since Napoleon, the French won a lot of battles on all continents, through 19th and 20th centuries And before Napoleon,France was the major power in Europe for centuries, when USA were still a desert populated by Indian nations. The French defeated alone entire coalitions through 1000 years. For most of the French during generations, wars were real things in their backyards, not watching Hollywood Ryan craps on TV, a can of coke in the hand.

  • @Camarale i said wars not battles.

  • the way the japanese behaved, it's pure human nature. put yourself in combat attire and fighting a war for more than a year, and you'll behave the same.....don't condemn the japanese from a spectator point of view. watch the news....the same thing is happening even now, around the world and don't condemn for the sake of condemning.

The british lost the battle of Singapore cos of a strategic mistake.

I'm not japanese, by the way, but it doesn't matter......

  • the british army was a disgrace. 100,000 men surrendered to what's remaining of 3 japanese divisions attacking from Malaya. with troops occupying Malaya, only 30,000 japanese were facing Singapore. that's 3:1 advantage in numbers and yet british gave up!!

  • @solaris5655 and they call the french cowards.

  • well why are the british in asia anyway fuck...gtfo

  • did the british really fight the japanese?

  • was that the ww2 british fighting japanese?

  • The Japanese were barbaric to the extreme, I would venture to say that they were far worse than the Germans even at their most terrible on the advance into Russia. Indeed, the willingness of Japanese soldiers to work after their surrender was brought upon by a guilty fear that they would be submitted to the same treatment they gave out. No respect should be given to the IJA... reading some of the accounts of their treatment of the Chinese and PoW's makes me ill. Thank God they were bested.

  • @Talbot6832 Their barbarity has tainted the image of future generations and I find it extremely difficult to reconcile the meek, civil and credible impression that their contemporaries have cumulatively developed over a matter of decades with whatever ideology with which they might have been possessed to be capable of dishing out as horrendous acts as these.

  • @Talbot6832 I still am unswayed by their admittedly influential culture which has unfortunately, at least to me, converted many to their side. Call me bitter, or even prejudiced, but I stand my ground - the history revisionism, among other acts reminiscent of an all-too-familiar nationalistic past is essentially a storm, which shall again rear its head after it is all brewed over.

  • Thanks to those dumbass British army, we have to have to Nattional Service when we turn 18!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It is the US power that save the asses of this arrogant British in War in Europe and in Asia, they the British understimated the japanese , Japan have sea, air and land fire power , they said the Japanese soldier can not hit a car at 10 meters, but they the British found out that the Japanese are hitting them at long distances, they built they singapoe defenses for nearly 20 years and declare impregnable and laugh at the Japanese but Japan conquered singapore in less 70 days DO NOT UNDERSTIMATE

  • @ceboym I think you need to consider some facts before making statements like that. This was Britains 4th year of a war on all fronts that had seen bigger countries than the UK melt away to the axis powers in a matter of weeks. I think it suffices to say that we had bigger problems closer to home at the time! The war was an all out effort on all sides, no single power could have won on their own. Good job we pulled together really

  • @ceboym US industrialism saved the situation but they suffered heavy defeat just like everyone else. They lost 100,000 troops in the Philippines remeber. The Japanese got the jump and took advantage of a situation where by Britain was at war with 2 other powers. By 1939 it was already apparent that British forces in Malaya would struggle to contain invasion. The speedy expansion of the Indian Army had left many units drained of their best men and officers.

  • 0.35-0.40: never fails to remind me of a group of monkeys on a tree branch.

  • After all these years, people are still arguing about who did what to whom in World war 2. Pathetic. All the while the muslims are sharpening their swords for us all. Indians, Japanese, Chinese, Americans, Israelis, Whites, we should all unite against the muslim devils!

  • Comment removed

  • japanese textbook didnt tell japanese that during Ww2 that their own army raped and kill and did many war crime.

  • @theif55 exactly and friend who live in japan say their child textbook omit so much details, it's a real shame for Japan youngster who live in a bubble world.

  • @kkll02 Oh come on do you really need to comment on something a year ago ?

  • @theif55 haha, i didn't see the date you reply but it is still something related isn't it?

  • but i admire the soldiers n percival...

  • well tis is wat happens if u depend on foreigners...

  • @DFORCE8228305 LOL!

  • the reason japan has the most earthquakes in the world...its because of wat their soldiers did during the war

  • @rishacrow99 lol retard superstition

  • I agreed with with @ denim98. It is a regret that the American did not drop atomic bombs on Tokyo. For what they had done in WW2, Japanese are not human beings. Until today, they are still considering themselves to be super human race. The rest of the world to them are sub human. Given today's China military power, Japan better shut his mouth up! One thing to remember, never never trust a Japanese for a leopard never change its spots!

  • @98555501 China will never be a major power. The entire country is still very poor, and a lot of people with AK 47s are not going to do any damage. Japan is a major nuclear power (though not officially). We can easily turn those millions of Toytotas and Hondas into thanks and submarines that wipe out your cities in seconds. If you hate Japan so much, then PLEASE don't buy a damn product made in Japan. U will soon realize u live in the Stone Age if you do so...all your electronics & machines.

  • @98555501 I have a japanese friend that is 11, he ain't bad. That was the past, forgive and forget dude

  • The thing that was the running singapore for the British should have been shot at the end of the war preferably by Scots and Aussies. This creature asked for reinforcements so he was sent an Army of Scots and Aussies(he never really needed) after letting them land he surrenderd them to the Japs without them having fired a shot. That thing was a real coward and caused these men torture and death for nothing!

  • hmm japan didnt even won the war.....

  • narrator's flawed. its the Ford Motor Factory not a freaking bank.

  • indeed because Americans were not primarally the Target

@Chihoosierguy because in the time America was not yet consittered enemy of Asia in general as they were in the following two decades for at the time the Brits/Dutch were the commen enemy of Asia Aussies were inprissoned because they were Braintains unwanted lapdogs who did all the dirty work in name of His masjesty they deserved force labor for there part of the suffering and ilegal occupation of Asia

  • 'the british defence would be bouyed by the rebuilt AMERICAN navy...In the push to the pacific.' So this video is not as much about the fall of Singapore but more of American Heroism in the war.

    Eww

  • @blackapple89er yanks have nothing to do with Pulau singapura !

eventhough General Immamura declaired the Yanks the Enemy of Asia Timur Raya

Chiangi prisson was filled with mostly Dutch/British and only a few Yanks

yanks where to work down the Rail road in bhurma

  • @Sungkawa Over 300 Americans died building the Thai- Burma railroad. That is much fewer than the Brits, Dutch, Aussies, but they were still there!

  • so my point is ,, no country alone could of won it, without the killing fields of russia, the russian winter and the english channel played a part to, wthout americas aid and industrial might, witthout us winning the battle of britian, and atlantic, our radar, and cracking the german codes, and our support of almost every resistance group in europe, without every one standing up, the axis would of won, im saying we played a vital part of that victory ,enough said,im off to bed lol

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish yes enough said. Amen

  • @vivek00 amen . looking with intrest how india is going to deal with this mosque situation

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish India could learn a lot from the amazing success of post war Singapore , just as China has

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

While "revisionist" history are often blacklisted, I would say, have a look at them with a pinch of salt. Some are blatantly Neo-Nazis masquerading whereas others hold some truth in it. I think we know politics well enough to understand that reality is unfortunately, not a clear cut of heroes and villians.

Likewise, take mainstream history with a pinch of salt as well, becasue it obviously does not serve a country's interest to write badly about itself (i.e. Japan).

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

I do not disputes the points you have laid out. What I like to point out is that if you look at alternative sources instead of simply "mainstream" history, you will uncover a wealth of information which is otherwise missing and paints a more complete picture.

History is written by the victors. I don't understand what is your point on "cheating". Germany begun re-armanent when it was clear that the victors of WW I did not adhere to their part of the treaty of versailes.

  • Jap criminal commendor was so arrogent

  • wheres the another part?

  • One usless spinless British General

and this comertator cannot get facks right

  • One usless spinless British General

  • The Brits were not much good as soldiers, they were " traders", who looted Asian countries for 200 years and wanted to continue for a 1000 years. It was only with the massive support of USA that they found themselves on the winning side .

  • @vivek00 thats a very silly and not an accurate view of the british at all, what state would india be in without the british makeing it as one, looted , take a look around you ,the roads the railways, your government, the universities schools hospitals, modern medicines, education, the abolishion of sati, the iradication of the thugee, yes we wer not perfect, no government is,but you got a lot in return to , how many indian prime ministers have been executed since we left

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish I think the Brits were as cruel if not worse than the Germans or the Japs . There were many instances of cruelty during their occupation of India. In 1943, while thousands of Indian soldiers fought and died for the Brits, 3 million Indians died of starvation in Bengal because they exported foodgrains out of India. Churchill refused to send grain ships even though the USA and Australia were ready to send them. He asked why Gandhi was not dead if there was a famine in India

  • @vivek00 ive heard that story before ,obviously you have little knowledge of the atrocities of the japanese and the germans did , there is no comparison at all,, indians did not fight for us, they fought to defend their homeland against the japanese , who would still be in occupation if they would of won the war ,, were did these exports go to , they didnt come here , food was rationed until 1950 here , some food ,eg rice was sent to indian troops in the middle east, british troops basically

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish Please read the book "Churchill's Secret War" which has given a well researched analyses of the reasons for the 1943 Bengal Famine.

  • @vivek00 basically ate tins of corned beef and hard tack biscuits, since when have indians cared about other indians anyway, yes there were uprisngs in india , and occasions were british troops opened fire on the crowds , by certain officers reacting to the crowd, in amritsar, but that indira ghandi did the same , storming the golden temple , what about the black hole of calcutta were rebels killed men women and children and threw their bodys down a well,

  • @vivek00 wars and famines would of continued wether the british were their or not, did the british ever commit a nanking ,like japan did, or commit the most brutal tortures on POWs, not just POWs but to local natives, the japanese did not liberate SE asia for the asians, they invaded and occupied manchuria, korea, parts of china, dutch east indies ,for oil, malaya for rubber, burma, they occupied vietnam threatening the vichey french, india was next , and thank god they were stopped at imphal

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish India is like the EU, holding together as a democracy for the first time after rule by invaders for last 2000 years. . And even as the Brits left they tried one last trick to keep this region volatile by creating Pakistan, now the hotbed of terrorists. You should hear what Hans Rosling has to say about the rise of India and China : Hans Rosling: Asia's rise -- how and when | Video on TED.com

  • @vivek00 In a lighter vein do take a look at the similarities between Indians and Brits . Papa CJ on Youtube

  • @vivek00 and kohima, hundreds of thousands of burmese ,phillipinos, chinese ,malays etc were all brutalised by the japanese, they saw them as nobodies ,even lower than us, as for the nazis , well i couldnt explain enough what they were like, ask the 30 million russians, 6 million jews and millions of poles and other nations, as for indian companies buying british companys that all started with thatcher and this world market, she destroyed manufacturing in britain

  • its not just indians buying the last of our steel mills, its everyone else to , blame thatcher ,blame the EU , it is a disgrace of our government why were in such a state ,, while im here , britian gives billions in overseas aid every year, 600 million last year to improve roads in southern africa, while we drive over pot holes here,, india to receives tens if not hundreds of millions from us in aid , yet you have nuclear weapons and a space program , thats how crazy we are

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish The colonial mindset ,snobbery and a belief that they were a superior race is what led to the down fall of the Empire. They never thought the Japs could fight. They thought they were the best in the world whether it was technology , warfare or administration. Japs destroyed that myth forever. Now Brits are becoming famous for disasters like the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

  • @vivek00 that snobbery is around today ,, no different to your caste system , but not as bad , theres snobbery amongst your rich in india, what do they do for the poor, charities here care more for your poor than your own government ,child labour and poverty is rife all over india . as for disasters , wrong again,, oh obama did his best as he hates us... that rig was an american contractor , the people who died were american, BP is a multi national company 45% investors are american

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish You are now blaming Obama and USA for British Petroleum's Gulf oil spill. ...Just like some fanatical Muslims are saying that 9/11 was a CIA plot. You Brits are getting USA into all kinds of trouble and blaming them . You convinced them to attack Iraq because your PM said they had WMDs.You are stuck in Afghanistan along with them. It might end up worse than Vietnam. Very few Brits want to join your Army. Soon you may only have Gurkhas to protect you.

  • @vivek00 and BP employs more americans than british, its called BP not british petroleum anymore. the americans were to blame,, as they were when the torrey canyon tanker ran aground by cornwall late 60s, and the piper alpha oil rig disaster in the north sea was american, and you sould know all about bhopal disaster , no american procecuted, thousands dead ,and suffering, its still not been cleared up and victims got less tthan 600 dollars each, thats america for you

  • @vivek00 as for defeat by japanese , wasnt rocket science, why and how we lost in malaya and singapore , it was neglect, indifference and a dozen factors , by the time of pearl harbour , we had been at war with germany for 2 years,,most of our navy was in british waters ,the med or atlantic, our army were mainly in northafrica or britain, america was no where near joining in . britain and the convoys in the atlantic was the priority , singapore defence was neglected and under strength

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish An attacker should have a 3 to 1 numerical superiority to have some chance of success against a well entrenched defender. Yet time and again the japs and germans showed they could attack and defeat bigger brit armies. it is time for Britain to outsource their military too.

  • @vivek00 the japs at singapore although smaller in number ,were superior, had tanks, control of the air, more experienced and better led, singapore ,when you look at it wasnt suprising, they also routed the americans in the phillipines, as for the germans, for example north africa, rommels was a smaller force, but our tanks were useless against a tiger and 88mm flak gun. 30,000 brits routed an italian army of 300,000 ,

  • @vivek00 the japs were just suicidal fanatics whose aim was to die for the emperor, we just wanted to get it over with and survive, once we got to imphal and kohima ,when we eventually stood , and had the right equipment , then we pushed the japanese back, the 14th army was never fully equipped to take the japs on until late in the war, if we had rearmed when japan and germany did ,they would of found us a tougher nut to crack,

  • @vivek00 the germans to outnumbered us , in france , in 1940, it was only at al alemein were we had superior forces in numbers, it was the germans who were dug in ,and us, well the allies , who beat them fair and square, even with all the german defences, our main fault was bad leadership, when we had the italians on the run, in africa, our leaders split the army , half went to greece, a disaster, leaving rommel, to invade , if we hadnt of gone to greece,we would of captured libya b4 rommel

  • @vivek00 in all germanys victories and japans victories it didnt matter, japans and germanys cheating, building ships they souldnt, and rearming, germany italy, japan, hungry, romania, and all the other axis allies, for all their might and agression they got beat,by anglo/american/commonwealth and soviet allies, they had their chance at singapore, the atlantic, leningrad stalingrad they blew it , they tried and they lost ,no country alone won or lost ww2

  • @vivek00 japan ,had been building a huge army up ,and had experienced troops who had been fighting since th early 30s, they broke all restrictions, building huge battleships, and navy, while our navy was cut and we only had a small professional army . the japanese landed in thailland , we thought malaya was impeneratable.

its wasnt , they had tanks ,we didnt, they had air superority , our 2nd class fighters destroyed on the ground, we sent 2 ships against an air force ,no contest

  • @vivek00 and although we had more troops, they were inexperienced , less than 20thousand were british , australians a bit more , the biggest section were indian troops, against agressive better trained and better armed and better led army,, if there was no german front , and we had our best troops, best armour, and RAF spitfires, and all our navy ,the japs would of been beaten . as they were beat in burma and in new guinea and the pacific

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish What baffles military historians is that even with half the number of tired soldiers , Japs attacked across Johor Straits, with well entrenched Brits holding the opposite bank. Norman Dixon has analysed it in his book" The Psychology of Military Incompetence". Stupidity seems to be a tradition of British generals. Even in North Africa they were out gunned by a smaller German force, using improvised 88mm AA guns and fewer tanks.

  • if you thought the japs did it to liberate asia , your totally wrong , and the empire anyway had run its course , and india were going to get their country back, you wanted it now, and you got it ,,,,, look what happend , muslims wanted their own country , east and west pakistan broke away , inter communal violence on a mass scale, ghandi assasinated , and we got the blame lol, even after all that , if we were so bad, why did india stay in the commonwealth

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish Japan was forced to attack Pearl Harbour and Singapore because of trade barriers. They lost the war but they have won the economic war. Now China and India have joined Japan ,after being shackled by colonialism. As they gain a dominant place in world economics the West will be forced to accept a new world order, like it or not. India started out as a region ravaged by 2000 years of invasions and plunder. But even with such a huge back log they have made great progress

  • how is the commonwealth games site by the way,, nice bridge that was lol , i saw the workers there living under tarpaulin covers in the open during the monsoon rain, nice way to treat the work force hey

  • Comment removed

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish You are beginning to pay for the sins of your ancestors. Brits destroyed industries in India during their Industrial Revolution. British labourers were just as badly treated by their masters. No wonder Communism was born.

  • @vivek00 and if were not good at being soldiers, how come just a relatively few thousand brits rule a country of ,in 1933 300 million people, doesnt say a lot for you does it,, out of the 100,000 plus allied troops at singapore , less than 20,000 were british, there were more indian troops, indian troops with respect were some of the bravest soldiers in that region, so im not anti indian,

  • @vivek00 you would of been begging for the brits to come back if japan would of occupied india, you dont know how lucky you were , as for being there a 1000 years , rubbish, we knew the empire had run its course , and with pressure from america and the new UN handed it back, we did more in ww2 than you like to believe, we defended ourselves ,and repulsed the nazis , without american help, yes they supplied us, but everything was bought for, nothing given, supplied by our merchant navy

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish The infrastructure of railways and roads In India was built by Brits to extract raw materials during their Industrial Revolution. The grand buildings were built to last a millenium of colonial rule. Too bad they had to leave it all behind. And now Indians are busy buying up iconic Brit companies like Corus, Landrover , Jaguar and even British East India Company. Brits seem to prefer take over by Indians rather than Chinese or Japs for the same reason.

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish erm to be really fair... There were many contradictory events which shows otherwise to Germany's intentions towards Britain. The evacuation at Dunkirk was not possible if orders were given NOT to advance on the city. Also, it was the Russians who tied up the majority of the German army in World War 2 on the eastern front... the western front in comparison... was rather lack lustre.

I think you should research more into that era and review alternative considerations.

  • @D04S02B04 hitler did not give the order , so the majority of regular army did escape, there plenty of what ifs, if hitler had kept his nose out of army affairs , the germans would of captured moscow , and beaten them, knocking them out of the war , i

  • @D04S02B04 concider this, if britain had fallen, its navy captured, no german city would of been bombed, the hundreds if not thousands of planes, realeased to the east, the massive expense f the atlantic wall, those resources put to fight to soviet, there would of been no valuble artic convoys and no american aid to the ussr either, 95% of soviet trucks were american, as were railway engines, and valuble materials provided by americans, these could not of been delivered if britain had fallen

  • @D04S02B04 all those american trucks and other vital aid russia got, so they could concentrate on making tanks, it all helped, if britian had fallen, germany would of controlled the atlantic, the med ,the suez canal, the arabian oil fields, ,who was to stop them, america didnt have the power, at that stage, the german navy would of linked up with the japanese, plus the u boats plus the italian and vichey trench navies, who we wouldnt of sunk, america would of been isolated ,unable to do much

  • @D04S02B04 so as for the soviet union without britain, germany would of had full resources , and all its army navy and airforces, and use of british factories to back them up, as they did in all occupied europe, and if russia would of got beat , that would of left the axis in control of unlimited resourses ,far exceeding americas, in control of atlantic, indian and pacific oceans ,america who had been isolationist , would of well and truely been isolated

  • @D04S02B04 without the british/canadians, american forces could not have got across the atlantic, while your right the vast eastern front the majority of fighting went on, the western front was hardly lacklustre, el alamein, tunisia ,were more germans were captured than stalingrad, monte cassino ,anzio, all through italy fighting was as hard as anywhere, as was normandy and around caen,,

  • 2:31 that's what she said

  • stupid percival. see the march of japanese rapist to the city of singapore with their small dick.

  • i think most warriors are braver than us lol

  • During surrener negotionas 4:18 Percival .. the coward keeps looking to his left . He is looking to a very Junior officer as if to say "What should I do next ? " What a disgrace . the stinkin Japs were at the end of their supplies and almost out of Amminition , and the COWARD surrenders to an inferior force ..

  • The british came back after WW2 and want to regain their power.. The chinese, malay and indian had already lose fate in them.

  • my poor mummy as a child born 1938 died 18th August 2009, she suffered untold pain during this time.....people should never EVER forget the children of war......

  • WTF is protect a cow lol..

  • Fuck the British for their stupid arrogance

  • it's weird that they leave Australians out in this video. haven't they forget that Australians were part of this battle?

  • I know I wish Japan behaved more honorably towards Asians but it felt good to see an Asian country kick a kick a colonial powerhouse like that!

  • @xxxdieselyyy if the Japs had behaved more honorably , they would have won the war and the hearts of the people of Malaya. They would have treated their own sick and POW better and would have plenty of replenished troops.

  • @denim98 You think so? Really? The US was going to bet those fuckers! What did the Japs own planner of the attack on Pearl say, "we have awoken a sleeping giant"

Our industrial might went into overdrive. We were making ships and planes quicker than the Japs could sink or shoot them down.

  • @chihoosierguy The people of Malaya was expecting the Japs to liberate them from the Birtish who ruled for 120 years. Instead the Japs were even worse oppressors and enslaved the people.

  • @denim98 oh shut your yapping. You treat the non-white people (Indians, Chinese, Malays) that fight for the commonwealth much worse. It's just that now Indian people are the wealthiest in UK while you whiny white ass eat up the state's welfare.

  • @Microglia1 You must be blind. I am Asian and my comments are not stupidly-racist rants like yours.

  • @denim98 Just go to Australia and see how you get treated as a Muslim. Hating Japanese people is what keep the rest of Asia behind. Instead, u should learn Japanese and try to emulate as much as possible our way of life, and your country won't be so backward.

  • @Microglia1 At least they dont kill , murder, torture , rape , beat u up and force u to go hungry for 4 years and force u to march to your death like those Japs.

  • @denim98 It's commonly said that the dog would never bite the hands that feed it. Are you absolutely certain that the Brits and Dutch NEVER raped your women, exploited your country's resources, and treated your people worst than fleas? I think you're the epitome of a historical revisionist or a very educated sponge of Western propaganda. I commiserate with you. We're Asian after all. I invite you to Japan and talk about the War with the young people. They would never deny Japan's cruel past.

  • @Microglia1 Japan cannot compared herself with other colonial powers coz Jap are cruel and merciless. Westerns powers may have colonize and exploited Malaya but they did not mass-murder nor mass-rape nor mass-enslave nor mass-behead Malayans

  • @denim98 U are impossible to reason with. Your name is kind of ironic to your "stance" on us "japs". Japan makes the world's best denim...so if you like denim, then you're missing out on the good stuff by your hatred. YOU were never beaten up nor had your family raped. You learn to hate "the Japs" by watching videos made by the British, who will go on to make videos about how easy it was to take over the entire Malayan region. Your country is named by whites. At least, Japan fought back.

  • @Microglia1 My great-grand parents and relatives died by the hands of the Japs and because of that, my grandparents were orphan and poor, We have relatives who commited suicide after being raped by beastly Japanese soldiers. Stop trying to be an apologist for what your soldiers did in WWII

  • @denim98 I am sorry for what happened to your family. That is all that needs to be said. Keep blaming Japan gets you nowhere. Malaysia is semi-industrialized and u need our help to become a full trading partner. You seem to have a benevolent attitude for the British. I hope you have the chance to live in Britain and Oz for some time. Then, you'll see how much they hate your skin color and religion. People that kiss up to white colonials are the ones that keep your country down. not "japs".
