If you believe what you say it is your task to prove what you claim, but of course that would require an erudition that you lack. It is easy to make any number of unfounded assertions, but difficult to back up what you claim with cogent evidence. I think we both know that you cannot prove that Islam amounts to "mumbo jumbo" because if you could you would go into print and enlighten us all. Curiously as with many of your ilk, you are so convinced of your own opinions that evidence is superfluous

With respect, you forget that many intelligent and erudite people can put forward counter-arguments no less convincing. Personally, I think you can make a good cumulative argument for the existence of God certainly no less convincing than the atheist argument. Look at, Denys Turner, Swinburne, Keith Ward. All top academics...

well im a muslim and i know you have to believe in god and his prophet, but we shouldnt judge people on their beliefs and the best thing to be as a person is a good and honest one, so you should be happy that you are a good person, but still read about islam and try and learn more you will be surprised because islam is a beautiful religion and this man is a good example and the best example is the beloved prophet mohammad (pbuh)

@Omer698: I think his adherence to Sufism and Scholasticism is a reason why he is not appreciated by the Salafis. The Salafi thinkers have got very strong voice in Sunni Muslim lands. I am a little bit surprised at his too much adherence and obedience to the legacy of the middle-age tradition while he came with western background. But no doubt, he is an appreciable thinker and speake. In most cases he is far more better than the prominant Salafis.

Equally conversant in both traditional Islamic scholarship and Western thought and civilization. One of the mystifying capabilities of the human brain is embodied in the genius. He is genius and is an individual with astounding creative talents and distinguished mental abilities.

When do we humans get over all these old brainwashing religions that obviously can't be all true at the same time? E.g. British research found that praying for someone elses health even has the opposite effect of the intent. No religion would win if evidence was truly judged in a court of law. A TRUE GOD wouldn't care whatever religion you have (usually depends on where you are born!) but would care about your behavior!

Islam has it's own system. It is not extreme capitalism, i.e. get what you can at the expense of others, and it is not extreme socialism, i.e. everyone will get same share no matter if someone works harder than someone else. Islam encourages business and bersonal betterment WITH social responsibility - it is sort of the middle way. So if you are Muslim, you really can't be Marxist. If you are Marxist, then maybe you are Mu'min instead of Muslim? But, who am I to judge. No offence intended. Peace
