@ronnoten She was the daughter of Scottish nobles but probably born in England. She was bought up in Scotland at Glamis. So if you think anyone who is born in England is automatically English then she was English.
the only member of the royal family to be born in scotland in the last few hundred years is the late princess margret. the royal throne has scots/german bloodline as the stuarts married into the house of hanover, not even sure there is any english blood on the throne.
thats what I was thinking, liked the half time display with the logs and reminded us that 'there was a war on' as the narrator said. I'm sure the vast majority was well aware
Excellent stuff... I'm just flogging a programme and tickey stub on e-bay for a 1944 England v Scotland match but the players names do not seem to match up... but it's great to feel the atmosphere as it must have been back then... Thanks ChicDhu
And not an ethnic minority to be seen. Bliss!

English King and Scottish Queen back then, of course - nice bit of competition in the royal household :)

90,000 in one place, with the Royal family stuck in the middle. I can only assume the Nazi's had run out of bombers by then. Barking mad.
