It's a shame that Moorer is really remembered in the general public as the guy who got knocked out by a fat old Foreman. But he was a guy competing in a weight class nearly 30-40 pounds heavier then his natural weight. Moorer was an absolute killer at cruiserweight, if it weren't for his knockout power he'd have been a dud at HW but it carried him through most of his HW career. He was a great talent.

@NeoOsiris19 As a Light Heavyweight, Moorer was 21-0 21ko's, had problems with alcohol and weight gain later in his career. Moorer came back well into this fight, but I gave it to Holyfield based on his early work in the fight, faded badly though.

Well...you are bright. I didn't say that Moorer was a legend did i, i put 'legendary Holyfield' which he is! If i were to put 'legendary Moorer' then i would of meant it, i didn't do it though. Tua is not a great fighter by any stretch & only has explosive power, fair play he can knock anyone out but that doesn't make you a good Boxer. By the way Tua is far from a legend pal, what has he done in his career? Both Moorer & Holyfield, especially Evander, won a lot in thier careers!

Moorer is a better all round Boxer then Tua yes, as i said Tua is explosive and caught Moorer with a great right. If MM was to fight like Lewis did against him, it wouldn't have happened! Tyson was a quality Boxer and no one can ever deny that, he had raw power and really good head movement. When Tyson fought Evander that was not the real Mike Tyson in that ring, every Boxing fan knows that. I'm not making excuses for him by no means, but that was not the same guy D'amato made a wonderkid!

He caught him with a gem of a shot in that first round and did do damage to Moorer, not forgetting the weight difference & the fact that MM was a Light-Heavyweight. Tua would never be undefeated even if he was in Moorers shoes, he is not a top fighter, he's a poor mans Liston. Obviously it's not an excuse on behalf of Mike Tyson but come on dude, everyone who is a Boxing fan knew that Tyson didn't train as hard, lived a bad lifestyle & was not at his full potential when he fought Holyfield. Take nothing from Evander though, he was a tremendous fighter and a living legend

I agree that Tua is a better puncher than Moorer. but Tyson (though overrated) could have been better than any Heavyweight in that era (if not all time). And everyone knows D'amato died before Mike won the title, but Kevin Rooney was a master at teaching defense, but that douchebag Don King fired him. so with the absence of Kev and the jail sentence, we were robbed of seeing Tyson's full potential.

We never saw his full potential but he never could have been the best ever. 1, he was small. He would never be able to go past huge brawlers like Foreman. 2 he didn't have the mental strenght needed. He never came back when he behind, couldn't overcome personal probs, he snaped in critical moments. He was great when things went good, whent the chips were down he couldn't cut it. In in hard times you see what a man's worth. Compare the way Ali came back after his exile and you know what i mean.

I agree and disagree. Its true Tyson lacked the will of some of the greats (ala Ali, Robinson, Hagler etc.) but what he lacked in heart he made it up in defense, speed and power. After Atlas left him, D'amato died and Kev Rooney was fired, Tyson didn't have anyone who had his best interest in mind. they encouraged him to get the early knock out & with that you saw is defense diminish. & Tyson ducked Foreman when he was old, I would've liked to see that fight.

It's true that Tyson went down hill without his old team. But I don't agree that you can make up a lack of heart. On a given time you are gonna fight a fighter as good as you are or better, maybe you don't have a good day, the ref isn't on your side, you get hurt in the fight... Then you gotta reach down deep inside to find the strenght to win. Guys like Ali could do that, he looked impossible in the eye and beat it. Tyson could never do that.

Nobody mentioned that Tyson was better than Holyfield, if they were to meet in the ring when Tyson was still with Rooney then that would have been a great fight! Evander is a legend and won the title on 4 different occasions, Tua has won basically nothing, that's what sets them apart.
