His tone is so strange. I hear what sounds like 60 cycle hum, and some very single coil-like characteristics. But other times it sounds like he's definitely using a humbucker but its the same guitar. Eddie is the man.

He uses a whammy pedal for the tea kettle effect. Notice that when he went to do that famous lick from eruption, he ran to where his pedals were, then he steps on the whammy pedal. you can set the whammy pedal to go higher in pitch when you press down on the pedal.

hey just wanted to let you know that it is not the same neck that is on the guitar now. its a similar one but that guitar went through so many neck variations that there is no way that it is the same neck

That is the same neck. Look at a picture and look at that neck. Look at the two dots at the twelth fret and see how close together they are. Its the same. That neck is not scalloped. Ed has never had a scalloped neck on the frankie.

Actually the "Brown Sound" was the tone he got in the studio when he played through his famous 100 watt Marshall Lead. This is NOT the "Brown Sound". This was an experimental tone, which is why it is the only concert where his tone was quite this weak and clean.

Eddie's playing is actually flawless. If he added tons of reverb and distortion and delay and wah like everyone else it would sound incredible. His tone here is really nasaly and weak, but as I said, his playing is flawless. Tone makes a HUGE difference.

You tremolo pick the note and as you're picking you slowly turn the pick so its almost perpendicular to the string and it creates that harmonic noise.

Summer you are a tool - and you can't spell - EVH is the best guitarist ever, anybody after is a sad copy. I stood out in the freezing ass cold to buy tickets for these two shows. We didn't fing out until we got to the counter it was festival seating. One of many VH shows I attended, these guys were great.
