  • some really good stuff here

  • This is a great video

  • i enjoyed this vid

  • really informative and interesting

  • Thanks for info. Good Video..

  • Amazing.. Good Video, Very Infomative..

  • nice ...

  • Wonder what the constellations looked like just before the last time the earth tilted off its axis. Could this help explain the Mayans calendar?

  • Sagan rhymes with Satan. He must be the Anti-Christ!!!

  • Those Egyptians were imaginative!

  • @capoman1 Egyptians were able to make pyramids, were highly mathematically educated and above all else they knew that planet wasn't flat while the "modern Europe" of the middle centuries thought that if you go beyond - you'll fall? How do you explain tribal people of Mayans actually having quite concise astronomical and astrological data? Were they playing tarot cards, maybe? Considering this video - Carl Sagan never studied astrology, yet he claims something about it comparing it to D.horoscope

  • @c1k4ml3kc3 Do you know what "astrology" is?

Astrology: the study that assumes and attempts to interpret the influence of the heavenly bodies on human affairs.

It has nothing to do with a civilization's knowledge of astronomy or mathematics.

In fact, I believe this video is a portion of the Cosmos episode: "Astronomy vs Astrology." Well you seem to be making some negative accusation about Sagan, but I am not really sure what your claim is?

  • @capoman1 You are idiot. Sorry. Bye

  • @capoman1 Asking me a question whether or not knowing what astrology is is quite irrelevant and giving a description about it without actually knowing it in the first place is a fail. You don't know what astrology is if you're referring to it with such a lousy sentence. Now, I wasn't talking about astrology but about Egyptians being able to use mathematical and astronomical data which makes them more scientific than actual middle ages and flat Earth/Drop from the ocean.

  • @c1k4ml3kc3 You still haven't made a clear assertion. You're happy to call me an idiot after one comment. But what is your assertion? You speak of the Egyptians' and the Mayans' "knowledge of mathematics and astronomy." But what do you mean to say; I really am not sure? Spell it out for me and the other readers. SUPPORT your case; MAKE your argument; I resent name calling.

I wish not to play a name calling game where you call me an "idiot." I would rather hear your entire thoughts; show respect

  • @capoman1 I'll gladly explain. I already said that I'm sorry.

  • @c1k4ml3kc3 I would be happy to hear what you have to say; to see a clear argument. You are obviously a fan of astrology. But you see most people think it is superstitious nonsense. There isn't a person that is close to me that swears by it; so no, I don't have alot of knowledge about the topic; and I feel there is a good reason why; cause I think it's nonsense. But is the definition that I gave not correct? If not, then explain. And I understand you are sorry. I am sorry for you.

  • @capoman1 Hehehehe :D you made me laugh, but you have the point. I shouldn't have said those things. I'm no fan of astrology, I'm studying it and learning it over a decade. But when you say how someone's "imaginative" while they've managed to proportionally examine and find even precession. Discrediting them like that without telling how advanced the civilization was not good at all. This was just a point as an argument against astrology (that this person didn't learn), to disprove constellation

  • @c1k4ml3kc3 The reason I said the Egyptians are "imaginative" is this. Sagan discusses the constellation called in the US "The Big Dipper," a kitchen tool, or in France "Le Casserole," a food item, in England "The Plow," Europeans saw "A Wagon." All very simplistic ideas.

Now even Sagan says "the most imaginative interpretation" is the Egyptians'.

Instead of "A Plow," they say "A bull, pulling a reclining man, followed by an upright hippopotamus, with a crocodile on it's back.!"

  • @capoman1 1. Egyptians never said that. 2. I disagree. 3. Supernatural comparison to astrology - fail. 4. Of course the one needs to research before they make a judgement. That's the difference between intelligent person as well as an idiot. :} Based upon what you've said I know that you know nothing about astrology nor methods used in it. You just wait for an explanation on a plate. Just like in this video. Have you actually seen an Egyptian believing in what Carl Sagan said? Reality? lol at u.

  • @c1k4ml3kc3 Is there any info about astrology in THIS video? Or do you mean in this entire Cosmos episode? So the reference to Egyptian constellations is wrong?

And so people who dismiss ferries, witches, and ghosts "without research" are idiots?

You missed the part that there is NO REASON to believe things that are not evident through your entire lifetime. Until these things manifest, one is not an "idiot" for not believing in them. They are simply holding the default position.

  • @c1k4ml3kc3 BTW, are you capable of making statements without calling someone else an "idiot?" Id on't think you are "sorry" about using terms like this; you just don't know that a person that can't make a solid argument WITHOUT the need to call names or use ad-hominem is not a reasonable person. You seem to act as if you have some answers, but you would rather call someone an "idiot" than share your "knowledge." Share your reasons, or just feel satisfied with childish name calling.

  • @capoman1 No, I feel quite satisfied with factors which you highly incline as...well...your assumptions and claims :} I feel no tendency towards spending any form of my cohesive capacities to reassure you or to further incline, allude or provide you informations considering, again, what's your claims or, from my point of view, your delusions. Calling someone "idiot" does have it's means, one of them to shorten my lifetime spent on a YT video, other to incline some sort of reaction...

  • @capoman1 In your case I did place an effort because I wanted to clarify certain things, however you keep bumping more and more assumptions as well as partly rhetorical questions considering the subject that you're not fond of, as I already have the proof of that taken your writings. However, I find illogical that you, after I told you how you wait things on a plate, actually expect me to share my knowledge with you. The only proof you'll find is the one you put effort on. That is - IF you want.

  • @capoman1 Was nice talking to you. Whether or not I'm talking about the video or not is irrelevant to our discussion nor i inclined that I've seen astrology in this video. It was a simple observation and compartmental factor based upon the actual data of people who're known about provided informations and who actually know more than given assumptions. Assumptions create more assumptions and not actual facts and truth. Provided video is a perfect example of "demagogic capacities" in action. Rsrch

  • @c1k4ml3kc3 You spent more time saying how "you don't want to answer and share" than you did spreading ANY amount of information. All you've shown is how dogmatic you can be, and shown how dogmatic superstitious thinking folk can be. As well as overuse the word "incline." You have presented nothing but "a resistance to presentation."

You say that I may find "proof" if I put forth an effort. So you have researched it, perhaps since high school? You're 23. Where should I and others look.

  • @capoman1 Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. I'm not here to spread information so that it fits your needs. I'm here because I watched video out of mere curiosity and, again, regarding Egyptians as well as astrology - this person failed. I'd rather spread truth than misinformation. You, while taking Carl Sagan as a valid source of information made a statement that Egyptians were imaginative. Which completely is based upon what Carl Sagan thinks, not the real truth behind the scenes. Farewell.

  • @c1k4ml3kc3 But I have found other resources that say the same thing. But that is not that interesting, if you could provide me with a single link to a source that may provide some information that would help the skeptic in learning the truth about astrology, I would sincerely appreciate it. If you have done research and found something compelling in your time, then sharing that source would be a benefit to the astrological community.

  • @capoman1 Ofc, and I find sources of the 13th sign used by astrologers all over the net, however I find it to be utter bullcrap :} and also proves m point that people are easily led by misinformation. Like in this video, for example. Based upon your writings, as well s daily horoscope references, I assume that you're from the U.S. I can't really help you since English isn't my original language, however the astrological community is more than aware of the books used as valid source of info.

  • @capoman1 I'd recommend staff at Kepler university to ask those questions, however I'd also recommend as a start "Lyall Watson-Supernature", I can provide this - I'll place on your profile, some links.

  • @c1k4ml3kc3 Now surely you would have to agree that the Egyptians had one hell of an imagination to come up with this interpretation from 7 dots haha. Thats the only reason I said they were "imaginative." Not to discredit their findings or their beliefs.

  • @capoman1 Now, what this person didn't knew was - Zodiac was never divided by constellations nor constellations play an important role in astrology. That's one of the most basic things to learn in it. That's why I find it illogical to believe to him just because of the title. If people allowed others to lead them just because of the titles we wouldn't be standing where we stand right now. I understand that you were referring to man in bull's ass, however that wasn't Egyptian. Was it? :]

  • @c1k4ml3kc3 But to tell you the truth, upon watching this video, I have NO opinion on astrology; none.

It may sound rude, but I also have no opinion on ferries, goblins, gargoyles, witches, ghosts, , Greek gods and goddesses, unicorns, dragons, angels, demons, or witches.

You see, here is the way my mind works: Until there is ANY reason to consider the validity of any characters, powers, or forces, there must first be some visible effect of that thing in our natural world.

  • @capoman1 The point is - people shouldn't blindly believe to others simply because they say something. People should research and spare some time to find the truth. That is, if they want. Now, you finding Astrology to be BS is your claim and your belief, however the fact is that you know nothing about it and that you're very well aware of it unless your belief is that great that you actually think that people shouldn't learn something before they judge to it. Here if you wanna chat. Regards. :)

  • @c1k4ml3kc3 So one doesn't need to "research" leprichans to determine the probability of a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Rather, the idea of a leprichan is NONSENSE until one has a SINGLE reason to consider it. The same goes for ghosts and all of the other things that I mentioned.

Finding astrology to be BS is the default position, the same position on ghosts and the others on my list, UNTIL astrology manifests as some CONVINCING mechanism. Right now it is connected with superstition.

  • Seems the votebots haven't struck this video. :D

  • @dagspoket

    they ragequit last episode

  • Refrigerators? Really?! Refrigerators?! WTF?!

  • @EldarReaper

with a monkey sitting on top

  • Arn't they moving compared to say, magnetic or geographically north

  • I have great respect for Carl Sagan, thanks for posting up these videos!

  • I've never seen the sense in constellations - after all, the stars aren't even gravitationally bound to each other!

  • Well if you want to think about it in any way it was a first try at classifying star clusters.

  • in the Faroe islands it is called Karls wagon

  • I think those Egyptians were smoking crack.

  • At 2:23 doesn't it look like the crocs tossed the guy at the bull's ass head first? Must be their way of entertaining themselves? Humorous Egyptians.

  • without necessary authorizations? lol go tell mommy hurry.

  • whahaha hilirious!!! Xd

  • "...maybe even mushroom clouds."

    =(

  • assfuct does have a point, but this is what the YouTube Guidelines say:

Only upload videos that you made or that you are authorized to use with written consent of the copyright holder. This means don't upload videos you didn't make, or use content in your videos that someone else owns the copyright to, such as music tracks, snippets of copyrighted tv programs, or videos made by other users, without necessary authorizations, doing so may result in the termination of your account.

  • @junkification

Not exactly sure, but youtube co-owns the copyright of many music video's and other stuff. So you're free to post those things on youtube. Don't know about cosmos.

  • Hey FFreeThinker,

How did you get "Most Subscribed Director" uploading pirated DVDRips of copyrighted PBS videos? This profile is NOT owned nor endorsed by the Ann Druyan estate, YET, you're a DIRECTOR using stolen videos you DO NOT own? Anyone can upload pirated content, there's not a single video here made by you? Hmmm... I would be careful, you could be shut down for illegal distribution of copyrighted content. As a YouTube DIRECTOR, please be careful, do NOT upload videos you do not own.

  • @assfuckt yeah, i'm sure Ann Druyan is going to care about it, i feel they all feel good that someone is putting "cosmos" out for everyone to get a glimpse at and fall in love with science

  • Look at the stars Mister Anderson... =D

  • Sagan has found GOD!.....in himself. Like we all should

  • My mind is my God and my body is its servants. It really is like a religion. When the servants die out so does the god. I believe it was the Greek who came up with the story that a god stole the divine fire and gave it to his favorite creature (humans). The divine is in us and that makes us the captains of our souls and masters of our destiny. Stephen Fry puts it very well in a dialogue with Christopher Hitchens.

  • ROFL (2:35) silly Egyptians.

  • so much WIN! :D:D

  • Carl Sagan oozed from the awesome sauce...

  • I always felt funny about these things about stars. but now I can feel their power in the name of culture.

  • I've figured it out. Sagan IS god. It's so simple!

  • HAIL SAGAN!

  • sagan is BOSS'n

  • i would give my life for him to come back, just because i know so many would benefit.

he is worth so much more than I am.

  • lol i would never see a hypo with crocs on its back

  • SAGAN IS LORD

  • Thank you for this lovely and informative post!

  • If there was one man poetic license was invented for - in terms of science - it was Carl Sagan. Coming from most other folks I'd be calling 'nonsense' and 'spiritual bull' on it.

Nix ~ thanks you for posting, as always.

  • Fantastic. Thank you.

  • Mind blown, yet again. Thanks for posting these.

  • Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • amazing

  • Very Cool! Carl Sagan was great and Cosmos is one of my favorite series of all time!

  • Another great Ep!

  • gotta love carl :)
