  • Great video! :) I've only been into a few of their songs but I love what I'm hearing on this. Would anyone mind listing the names of the songs?

  • @EnigmaEternus: For I'm a really social person xD I've done a list with all the songs, incl. the starting and ending times. Maybe nazgulol would mind putting them into the video description, so that question doesn't reappears a douzen times?

  • So, here's my list of the songs used for this video:

    0:00 - 0:19: She is my Sin

    0:20 – 0:29: Angels Fall First

    0:30 – 0:42: Forever Yours

    0:43 – 0:50: Dead Boy’s Poem

    0:50 – 1:26: Wishmaster

    1:27 – 1:38: Dead Boy’s Poem

    1:39 – 1:45: Deep Silent Complete

    2:08 – 2:50: Phantom of the Opera

  • @EndOfDeceive Thank you so much! :) We all appreciate it.

  • @EndOfDeceive

Ok... But that is my video right?! hahahaha (Y)

  • @nazgulol: I just wanted to be useful xD

  • @EndOfDeceive

And you were.... I was just kidding, don't worry about that.... ;D(Y)

  • @EndOfDeceive

Hello, check the live performance of devil and the deep dark ocean.

    You will find a B6 and a C7.

    Here's a poor quality recording

    /watch?v=4XoZ0WLEFC8

  • @MrNakhrul Are you telling me that Tarja has hit a B6? And a C7?

  • @andreez1

The link I posted still works, go check for yourself. Too bad NW did not perform that often songs from Oceanborn.

    /watch?v=4XoZ0WLEFC8

The dispute at that point was between B6, C7# and C7

  • @MrNakhrul daaamn. I never knew Tarja could go so high!!! what's the minute?

  • @andreez1

    At 2:54 - 2:56.

Maybe someone will find a better version, I know for certain they performed this live flawlessly many times in 1998-2000

  • @EndOfDeceive I love her operatic voice; it's so haunting.

  • @unevilGenius

    Phantom of the Opera....

  • what's the song from 0:52 to 1:26??

  • @glendalikesapples

The song is Wishmaster, also the third album from Nightwish... (Y)

  • Comment removed

  • the best? just because she reaches some notes? Her voice is always the same, there are many singers who use their voice in many different ways, tarja doesnt

  • It's cool to hear this kind of thing. I only recently became familiar with "scientific pitch" and realised the extent of my own range A1-A-4 (Bass) and G3-G5 (Head on a good day) Have been known to croon (badly) along to Nightwish songs, but obviously the top note elude me.....as I do have male genitals! hehe

  • @skingaz

I'm man and reach a F6,(My range: Gb2-Ab6)but is not big deal, it's a matter of practice and vocal health (Y)

I don't really care about range.... What matters is timbre and afination... And it's hard to find anyone (at all) that sounds like Tarja (:

  • @nazgulol So, your range is around an octave above mine at both ends then? (starting in Baritone) I agree, range is a matter of practice. I've been playing around with my own tonight, and getting some in tune stuff below what I'd normally call my "bottom end" I don't think you can say it's "no big deal", as many CAN'T do it! hehe I agree too that tone is vital, as the late, great Ivan Rebroff proved! Tarja is fabulous though, and I love her tone!

  • @skingaz

    Couldn't be more right.... (;

  • @nazgulol Singers of Amberian Dawn, Coronatus and Operatika kinda remind me of Tarja's voice sometimes. But every singer has unique vocal timbre.

By the way, I think I heard Tarja going lower than A3 in a live performance.

  • @nazgulol

    Finally someone having some sense!

Thing is, childish people need to find APPROVAL for their own tastes. That's why they look half baked technical reasons (like range, agility and all that crap) and social consensus (like 'yeah your taste is good, I like that also').

I am a dude, my range is wider that Tarja's also .. she's a woman ffs.. but I sound like a donkey :)

Tarja is one of the best (for me, THE best) voices alive. Period.

  • @nazgulol F6? Really?? I'm not professional singer, but I am happy to result of F2 to F5 :)

  • @NesteHukka2

    Actually is a G#6 hahahaha..

  • @nazgulol nice range I Have E2-E6 i am a coloratura mezzo soprano

  • Song at 2:10?

  • @DDKPDK The phantom of the opera :D

  • Comment removed

  • amy lee rules, too

  • @MissRitaLee

    Amy sings OK.... (Y) ;)

However, Amy uses much more high chest than Tarja....

  • Whats the name of the song @ 2:00?

  • @PaEvWi

The song is "Beauty and the Beast"

  • @nazgulol Thanks :)

  • I can give two better examples of her higher range. The note she hits in her cover of Still of The Night and, if you listen carefully, a brief note in Devil and The Deep Dark Ocean which almost sounds high enough to enter the whistle register (although not quite). Has anybody ever heard Tarja's full chest voice? I would really love to hear her belting out a note that doesn't use her classical voice, although I know that she always sings classically.

  • @joshieboy15

    Yeah... (Y)

  • @joshieboy15 I think she does chest voice in The Siren.

  • @evanescence9314 You're absolutely right. I completely forgot about that!

  • @joshieboy15 @joshieboy15 Hi! I remember you asking if we had ever heard Tarja belt a high note. And besides The Siren, there's a Nightwish song called Nymphomaniac fantasia in which she belts a high note. at 2:26 ;) I hope I was able to help.

  • @joshieboy15

Yes! look for the song "slaying the dreamer" in end of an era live.

2:26 when she says "tell me why"!

  • @TheReignOfTheKnight I was never sure if she was using her chest voice for that part, thanks!

  • @joshieboy15 Tarja belts out in ''Romanticide'', ''The Siren'', ''Poison'' and ''Still Of The Night''. There are more songs where she belts, but these are really awesome! She also sings in chest voice in ''Smells Like Teen Spirit''.

  • @FrozenMermaid666 I forgot about her Smells Like Teen Spirit cover! I really like the sound of her chest voice. There's something very unique and soft about it. She has such a deep speaking voice that it's interesting to hear her using that tone when singing.

  • @joshieboy15 Yep, that's so true! I love her chest voice, it's so powerful! She should sing more songs like that! I heard her singing that cover a few years ago and it's still one of my faves, and I must admit I never really liked that song before hearing Tarja singing it, hehe! Tori Amos also did a great cover of ''Smells Like Teen Spirit''! :)

  • @FrozenMermaid666 I want to hear more covers by Tarja! And I want to hear her really belting out some gorgeous notes, hahaha.

  • @joshieboy15 Me too! I hope she belts out some really high notes on her next album! :D

  • @FrozenMermaid666 I'm sure she won't disappoint. She never disappoints me anyway!

  • @joshieboy15 I totally agree! Her voice gets better and better with every new album! :)

  • @FrozenMermaid666 Oh it does. I can't believe how mature and developed her voice is compared to her Nightwish days. She has come so far. I'm proud to have witnessed such a beautiful transformation. She has grown from a shy little Kitee girl into a world-class classical woman!

  • @locoluuk Tarja's highest note is not Phantom of the Opera. Haha. She can vocalize an F6, but, if I remember correctly, she said she did not like to do it, for she feared that it would damage her voice.

  • how you can determine what pinch is it ? :D you must have an amazing ear :D im jealous of that...

  • There is also an F6 in Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean

  • what´s the final song??

  • @agominator

    Phantom of the Opera....

  • @nazgulol :-)

  • @agominator: Phantom of the Opera, studio version.

  • What song is this at 1:46? Please answer

  • @unevilGenius

The song is "Beauty and the Beast"

    ^-^

  • That F6 actually sounds more like a G#6, Or at least that's how I always heard it.

  • @Spydrfish

    Yes ^-^

  • She measures contra to lyric soprano. Her high voice is still there, but she's brought the low voice down.

  • @Marshallsatten

    Yeah, I know that... ^-^

    Thankx

  • @nazgulol Excuse me....

  • @locoluuk

Would the best be Maria Callas? ^-^

  • @locoluuk

wow... I'd love to see that great vocal range....

    Post it... Pleeeaasseee.... ^-^

  • She is just a Godess. Tarja Turunen, Godess of Metal

  • @GrissyPink7y9: She's definitely one of them, but there's plenty of women in metal with killer looks, smooth voices, and excellent vocal ranges.

  • @MultiShifties

    I agree... ^-^

  • I didn't think she was a sprinto... The more you know...

  • @xmetalxbitchx

    Yeah... That's right, she's not 'sprinto', =]

    she's soprano lirico spinto...

    She really is.... ^-^

    Thanx

  • @xmetalxbitchx oh my bad, sorry, I type too fast and don't check xD

  • Please. Could you make a video with Melissa Ferlaak and Helen Vogt?

  • @Vintagecomputer

Well, I have listened some songs of Aesma Daeva and liked very much... But I have to download and listen all discografy of the band to make the video... O.O"

  • @TheExClaims

Don't be so sure... Her vocal is low, but that´s because she is Contralto...

    XD

    Her best is low...

The video is pretty good, you'll like ^-^

  • I mean her solo carrier, put all in one video

  • @Iza56

    Oohhh... yes...

I'm planning to do that... I mean, after... That's because I'm making another video now (Cristina Scabbia's vocal range)

Ah, I'm also planning improve my Simone Simons' video later. Have you already watched it??

  • 1:48-2:07 beautiful. What about solo?

  • @Iza56

    I'm sorry... Solo? What solo?

  • her lowest note is a lot lower than f3 cuz in ciarans well she sings deeper!! her highest note is Eb6 in POTO at End Of An Era...and i think F6 or higher in the studio version of phantom of the opera...the last note on the slide is VERY high. listen carefully!!^^

  • @EndOfInnocence1991

    Yes... I know that...

The last note of the my video is possible a G#6 in the end....

    Thanx

  • @EndOfInnocence1991 In "Child in Time" she hits a higher note live than POTO. ^^

  • Hey! What is the song of the minute 1.30?

  • @naacho91

    Dead Boy's Poem, 6:02 ^-^

  • You're wrong. Her Phantom of the opera in the album version doesn't have a F6, I never even listen a C6. Her live version has a D6 if I am not wrong, but it's a little low yet, 'coz the scores marks an E6.

Her low note is an A3 in the song Away, so you're right there, she's an A3 and might be a little more now since she's older. In addition to that, her voice is damaged since she has added weight to her lyrical voice.

  • @lasseforsure

Well, listen the phantom of the opera, she really sings that... And actually is not a F6, but G#6....Thanks anyway.....

  • @JJLopesz 5 Octaves voice nowdays !

  • @JJLopesz You're right. I've read an interview where she says her highest note is "C in 3 octaves" - or something like that. Perhaps she hits higher notes when she's singing some opera arias like "Song to The Moon" for ex.

  • Her lowest note on My Winter Storm is F3 in "The Seer" (officially confirmed on her blog).

  • @gratbil

    Thanks.....

  • @gratbil

But In the especifications I put " Nightwish Only"

    Thanks Anyway.....

  • @locoluuk

ok you're right about the world record, but Georgia Brown sucks really bad, she havent' control and ability, highest notes are like annoying whistles, and the lower ones haven't intonation... now i know why you have 5 octaves but you aren't a singer

  • Bull that F6 was not an F6.

  • @locoluuk

world record is 6 octaves, if you have 5 why you aren't a fomus singer? maybe your F6 comes out at 3 dB?

  • TARJA RULES!!!! 4Ever!!! lml

  • what is the song at 1:55??

  • @blackhoumor that's "Beauty and the beast", from when she was on Nightwish ;)

  • @WibbityWoobityWoola1 No, sorry, but you're wrong. That note is F6, 'cause for frecuency

  • @JJLopesz That is imposible. Tarja only have F6. She can't hit up more

  • @Decipher900 You're Right. For me is Sharon Den Adel, just cause she's my favorite XD

  • @rey982 She didn't even take any singing lessons.

  • @Decipher900 Exactly. Still so, she is so good singing

  • @JJLopesz

    Show me....

  • @nazgulol I'm going to make her vocal range, when I finish it, I'll show you

  • @nazgulol according to english wikipedia (search, can't link here) she has a range of at least 3 octaves. i also remember some articles saying she has 3-3 1/2 octaves, around on the web. anyway on the same wiki page they say that on my winter storm only, her range went from f3 to d6. i'm just reporting, i can't sing or play or whatever! ;)

  • @hissingatrocity

    The wikipedia is wrog.... Surprise....xD

Actually her range is to F3 to Ab6....
