I agree with you in some ways, but disagree in others. No Dragon Ball/Z did not focus on an emotional story, but even so I think the background story is what makes it so well put together. The connections between past and present characters. The relationship between Goku and Vegeta was always my favorite part of the manga/anime. Still, Naruto does have deeper emotions and deeper stories, so its still awesome. My top 4 favorite animes: Dragon Ball/Z, Death Note, Naruto, and Full Metal Alchemist!

Sad thing is, the creator, Masashi Kishimoto, has hung himself up on Naruto for 10 years now, so except a few short stories, nothing else. Luckily Naruto is probably ending pretty soon, seeing the current situation in the series, and i thin Kishimoto realised he can´t milk it forever. So unless the series get even stupider than it already was by adding a new villian, we might soon see some fresh work that might be good, cuz, you know, Naruto was really good in the start.
