  • Tyson is the most overrated fighter in history.

  • Marciano beat a poor bunch in his time. He did not face any class punchers over 200 pounds. Both Archie Moore and Walcott were "old men" about 42 years and 38-39 years respectively. The blown up light heavy from Britain was a joke. Btw, "the old mongoose" was also a blown up light heavyweight. Still he floored Rocky as did Walcott. Roland Lastarza should have gotten the verdict over Rocky but he was robbed. I am certain that Liston, Foreman, Tyson, Frazier and Lewis would have knock Rock out.

  • @TheEnlightened77 Found out the little bias shit-stirrer havent i.

Marciano beat a poor bunch? So ezzard charles was poor? (I think not regarded as the greatest light heavy in history, and dont forget marciano was only 185 too) And yes they were similar age marciano 30 - charles 32 marciano beat him fair 2 times no excuses!

La starza - Marciano 1 was close but marciano was only at the beginning of his carrer (which he started late proffesionaly in boxing terms by the way 24)

  • @TheEnlightened77 And if you want to talk about old fighters look how Ali fought an even older Archie moore at 45, then stood over him gloating after he knocked him down like he was some sort of arrogant king! you tell me who was the better man, Marciano helped him to his feet when he knocked him out!

You want to talk about padded records? no heavy in historypadded their records more than mike tyson, name me one prime great fighter he fought and beat? YOU CANT!

  • @TheEnlightened77 Lets talk about padded records - ALI - TYSON Padded their records with older fighters more than any other heavyweights (Including marciano)

Ali - archie moore 45 LOL

    Ali - cleveland williams 37

    Ali - henry cooper 36

Sonny liston (not a lot of people know this but nobody knew listons real age as he was born from a family of like 12 and was thought to be 5 years older than he really was which would make him around 38 years old when he fought ali maybe older.

    I could go on.

  • @shotgunshawzy how about ali-foreman, ali- frazier or ali-coop., etc

  • @prjerry7 Always comes back to Ali frazier this Ali foreman that, Ali-Foreman was a complete and utter fluke everyoner knows this Foremans tactics were retarded that fight do you actually think charlie goldman ( marciano's legendary trainer ) would have fell for those laughable tactics from Ali? I think not anyway marciano could go 40 rounds if needed, and yes Maciano was superior to frazier Ali says this himself, frazier beat ali with one hand (his left hook) marciano had more weapons

  • @shotgunshawzy frazier had more weapons then just a left hook, the reason frazier beat ali with it is that Ali was blind to only the left hook.

Fraziers left hook was more potent then marcianos.

Marciano only defended the title against old men.

Frazier, Foremen, Coop., Norton & Shavers were ALL better opponents then ANY Marciano faced, Ali beat them all, kayod most

  • Comment removed

  • @prjerry7 Charles and Walcott (on the night he fought for the title) woulda smashed Norton , cooper , Shavers , and also possibly frazier........ your clueless.

  • @shotgunshawzy Charles and Walcott were all ex-champions and old men when they faced Marciano.

Foreman, Norton, Shavers and Frazier were all in prime shape when facing Ali.

The only decent fighter Marciano faced who was in their prime was La Starza, who almost beat Rocky.

Fraziers left hook was more potent then Marcianos.

  • @prjerry7 Holy jesus what are you talking about, Ezzard charles was only 32 years old yes 32 AINT OLD! when he fought a 30 year old marciano and the 37 year old walcott when he fought marciano and got knocked out fought the fight of his life! ...........(Lennox lewis also peaked and got his biggest fights when he was 35! )

  • @prjerry7 And your failing to mention or your bias or totally clueless that marciano hospitalised and put in a coma a good young promising fighter in the form of "Carmine vingo"....... i dont care wether or not marciano's left hook was as potent or more prominent than fraziers it was still devasting as proven with the joe louis and harry kid mathews, it still dont hide the fact that marciano's right hand was 100 times better than fraziers and that he had more weapons at his disposal.

  • @shotgunshawzy walcott stated Ali hit harder then marciano, he was also much faster [onbviously] and bigger.

Dont ever site Marcianos fight with an old Joe Louis.

Marciano only fought old men and the few upcoming youngsters he fought were kids. A former welterweight almost kayod Marciano.

Tyson, who hardly defended his title, defended it more then rocky

  • @prjerry7 How many times do i have to repeat myself to you EZZARD CHARLES WAS ONLY 32 YEARS OLD when he fought marciano that aint OLD! Hahahahaha what in the holy fuck' are you talking about Walcott stated Ali hit harder than marciano? Hahahaha how the fuck is he supposed to know? He never fought Ali & if you believe that then im guess you must believe in fairies too? Hahahaha stay off this page you bias tool Ali nut hugger.

  • @shotgunshawzy Charles was nowhere near his prime when he faced Marciano, he had already previously lost a fight against Johnson, Valdes, Rex Layne, Walcott, etc etc. Charles was more of a Tyson, his prime was when he was MUCH younger.

Archie Moore, a former welterweight at the old age of almost 40, dropped Marciano n their fight during the second round. Later on he fought li, was kayod earlier then in the Marciano fight, and clearly stated Ali hit harder.

Rocky dodged Liston, Ali did not

  • @prjerry7 Old men Old men Old men a clear sign of an uninforrmed an Ali nut hugger, deep down in your heart you know im right & it pains you to think of your hero getting K.O'D from one of the finest men to step between the ropes....... seriously its getting to the point where i dont know who is worse Ali fans or Twilight fans? You decide you come across as a guy to be the expert on both.

  • @prjerry7 Ali - cleveland wiliams 37 shot up crack head .....184lb 36 year old Henry cooper (ko'd Ai everyone knows it prime too) 45 year old archie moore li knocked out then gloated......Liston probably 50 years old.........i could go on on night yet you say marciano padded his record? get out my sight you cluless bias fool.

  • @shotgunshawzy Ali destroyed Cleveland who was in his prime during their match, had 9 consecutive wins before Ali destroyed him. Yes he did drugs, so did Oscar de la Hoya during his prime C:

    Ali destroyed Cooper.

Archie Moore wasnt in his prime during his Rocky or Ali fight but he stated Ali hit harder, was faster and of course more technical.

Ali fought Liston in his prime, Rocky dodged Liston, though i think Liston was very inconsistent.

Ali NEVER fought Rocky, how did he get kayod?

    Learn

  • @prjerry7 A 37 Year old shot up cripple gun victim crack head Cleveland williams was in his prime when he fought Ali? hahahaha who told you that? santa? LOL a 36 year old (easiest cutter in history) Henry cooper 184lbs knocked Ali out who then had to cheat his war doding ass out of that one to knock out a 45 year old grandpa archie moore .....then these stupid rigged iston fights was the so called greatest? PLEEEEEEASE you need olie harder than that to fool me your a fool of a fool.

  • @shotgunshawzy

Cleveland was in the top of his career when he fought Ali, there is no doubt about it, he had 9 consecutive & impressive wins before Ali destroyed him.

Also, you need to get educated; Ali destroyed Cooper twice and was never kayod by him, heres the vid; /watch?v=XxX9Ql_LZtM

I love how you ignore Ali fights against prime George Foreman/Frazier/Shavers/Cooper, etc. which were all better opponents then ANYONE Rocky fought.

ps; im no Ali nuthugger, i dont think he was the GOAT

  • @prjerry7 Oh and by the way La starza got smashed to pieces this fight if you hadnt already noticed LOL or if your talking about their first fight when marciano's career as a pro had just started, it was a split decision only because marciano got a point deducted from an accidental low blow otherwise it woulda been a unanimous points victory and this nonsense that he could ever defeat marciano would never have been spoken of.

  • @prjerry7 Marciano could bang you out with either hand his left hook was awesome too ala Harry "kid" mathews.......fraziers right hand aint got shit on the rocks suzie q.

  • @prjerry7 Jersey joe walcott and Ezzard charles are both hall of famers Norton , Cooper, Shavers are nowhere near their class........Ali himself learned a few tricks off of joe walcotts style.

  • @prjerry7 Click that little link on the right hand side there - Muhammad Ali Talks About Rocky Marciano - have a nice evening.

  • @prjerry7 Also find it amusing that foreman didnt get a rematch with Ali...........

  • ROCKY MARCIANO LIKE MICHAEL JORDAN IS THE MOST OVERRATED ATHLETE IN SPORTS HISTORY...ALI, NORTON, FRAZIER, FOREMAN, HOLMES, TYSON, HOLYFIELD, LENNOX LEWIS HELL EVEN MANNY PACQUIA COULD BEAT THE LIVING $HIT OUT OF ROCKY"FIXED FIGHT"MARCIANO

  • la starza never ate meat

  • @normalguyable

You're right...Coley beat Marciano ...but they were amateurs not pro...

Marciano wasnt beat like pro in his career!

    Cheeres

  • To bad there lying saying that Rocky Marciano was never beaten. HE GOT BEAT BY COLEY WALLACE!!!!! THE MEDIA LIES....not trying to sound racist but the white media back then wanted to make it known that the "white man" was unbeatable, and coerced people into believing it by shunning the facts. Make sure you look up COLEY WALLACE if you dont believe me.

  • dude, they're boxing.. not dancing in a fucking electro club! wtf with this music? damn, if you don't have the original audio nor the audio copyrights, at least you can make an effort and put on some audio from the movie, or AT LEAST a good music, according to the clip!!

  • what's with all the shite fucken music?

  • La Starza won the first fight.Where the hell is it!!!

  • STUPID FUCKING SHIT-ASS MUSIC

  • the best song to listen to that goes with rocky vids is the song The Legacy by UBAD.

  • music and effects are really off putting and out of place for this type of vid

  • Too many clueless boxing fans on youtube, then again my guess is most are too young to know anything in great detail about the older golden age of boxers, that said its not their fault, i wish i was born in the 40's to witness all of it..........Going into this fight LASTARZA was a Good lookin man & a underated top pro, but after it he was hospitalised & looked like the elephant man.

  • @shotgunshawzy La starza was still a good looking man after he healed up.Hollywood good looks and a real gentleman.I met him when he was in his 70's.One of the nicest guys I ever mer met.

  • Poor choice for music ...... geeeez.

  • @elfernman WRONG i think it fits well, the opening lyric - YOU HAVE THE BRAVEST HEART - thats whats marciano was all about, HEART !!

  • Check out the look on Rocky's face when the ref stops this. It's kind of like a pit bull dog that has just been called off. Rocky was a destroyer.

  • The end of this fight is very Tyson-esque with speed and power.

That uppercut if it fully connected would of killed most people!

    I love Marciano!

  • GODDAMN WTF WITH THE SONG HOLYDOGSHIT

  • @sugarfrankjr - Yeah, I agree. That's really poor background music. It's got no relationship to boxing or that match. Like many others, the poster ruins the video by placing inappropriate soundtracks like that. He just BUTCHERS it. Plus the quality of the video isn't very good.

  • LaStarza was one tough guy to get-up from that sledgehammer he took that put him through the ropes. He had the same fighting spirit it seems as the Rock but just couldn't hit Rocky hard enough to dismay him. LaStarza later had to have surgery on his arms from the beating Rock through to the forearms.

  • @triggert531 LaStarza really would have been better off as a light heavy but like everybody else he wanted to be where the money was.

  • Rest in Peace, Roland LaStarza.

  • BORN TO BOX!

  • supposedly la starza disrespected marciano before this fight by saying he was too easy to hit, he made him suffer big time

  • 1 word.....ANIMAL ( gentleman outside the ring )

  • Rocky 6 sempre n 1

  • Please remove the songs from the videos,, it destroys it!!

  • Great vid of a truly magnificent champion!

  • That LaStarza a tough customer, and good boxer too. Very under rated. He gave Rocky a tough time, 'til he ran into 'Suzy Q' (Rocky's right hand)

  • I was born on this day, and Rocky is my hero.

  • Lastarza was a very good fighter/boxer.

  • 53-1

  • Archie Moore lied.....when he said Ali hit harder than Marciano.

  • @sherom He probably hit him more often, but no way he hit as hard. Chuvalo hit harder than Ali. I watched him train for their fight in '72. My old coach, Elio Ius had a much harder right hand than Ali.

(former Canadian HW champion... big hitter.) R.I.P Elio... He had a heart bigger than the Pacific Ocean, too

Over 400 guys at his funeral a few years back

  • I think Ali fought Moore in 1962 so Archie was either 46 or 49. Ali was still a LHW't. Moore made 175

  • the the encryption said 'birth dates.' Coincidence?

  • Two guys I believe could have whipped Ali in their prime: (Besides Rocky) Ezzard Charles (Perhaps one of the most under rated fighters of all time) and Joe Louis. Louis maybe the hardest hitter of all time, including the Rock... and I will take a 30 yr old Archie Moore against Ali too.

  • I always loved the sport of boxing and one thing I learned, truthfully we really can't say who would of licked who "IF" they met in the ring. Look at the way George Foreman handled Joe Frazier with ease but Ali knocked out Foreman after being beaten by Frazier. You really never know but it is always fun to pick someone. I think Ali could of handled Louis then again, who knows. They were both great fighters. Have a great New Year!

  • @RangerRob2009 Best comment I have seen here in over 2 months. Maybe I can beat Sam. Sam can beat you. Doesn't mean I can beat you. Cheers

  • you are all out of your minds to think that Ali can beat Marciano.... Marciano would win hands down and that's because I just peeked through like... 5-6 of their fights.. so I'm an expert in this matter. Marciano wins. k tnx.

  • this is amateur boxing man

  • you're amateur boxing.. OOOOOOOOO

  • No serieus boxing expert in the world gives Marciano a chance against Ali.

I love Marciano but why must everybody line him up against men like Ali, who is much bigger-faster-heavier-stronger then Marciano? It wouldn't be a fair fight.

  • They actually trained together after Marciano retired and people used computers to calculate who would win and Marciano won. Also, Ali acknowledged that Marciano is no joke in the ring, even while pushing mid 40s into the 50s (and Ali was still on circuit). Marciano would win. Besides has Ali ever literally rearranged someone's face before? Marciano = hardest punch ever thrown in boxing.

  • Not stronger, and Ali coulnd't hit as hard

Serious boxing experts disagree with you. problem is, you are like me. You favor the one you like as a person, and Marciano a much more likeable man the Gasseous Cassius

  • I admit that saying that Ali was stronger then Marciano is controversial. But remember Ali was much bigger, suggesting that he could putt more weight behinde his punches. Also look at his record he koed some big men. Foreman was never knocked out in more the 60 fights, except against Foreman. But the biggest evidence is Archie Moore, who fought both, he said Ali HIT HARDER then Marciano. So i believe that even in punching power, Ali was the better man.

  • If Moore indeed said that about Ali, then I am very wrong. Moore is better qualified to judge that than any of us. Amazing that Moore fought both guys, They were born about 30 years apart, Ali and Moore

  • Yes he said that. I saw it in an interview. And indeed he is best qualified to say that. I don't think that Moore was 30 years older, I think Moore was about 46-48 i think and Ali in his early twenties. Moore was even a old man when he fought Marciano. He was one of those fighters who had a extreme ong durability, i mean a long career. The man know what he was talking about.

  • Thanks for that. There are TWO birthdates for Moore. One says 1913, and I the other says 1916. His mother claimed the 1916, if memory works right.

He was either 39 or 42 when he fought Marciano. Amazing, He won the world LHW title when he was either 36 or 39

  • @sparwood8 Moore born either in 1913 or 1917. Ali 1942 or =/- a year

  • Comment removed

  • Lucky to be born in just right time. Anyway at 46 years old he would have gotten beaten by Rocky worse than he ever got.

Though gotta respect how he still wanted to fight as a old man eventhough he had so much money that he wouldn't have needed to do anything for the rest of his life. At least if he hadn't spend them.

But anyway good for his era and maybe your favourite but don't go joking too far he wouldn't have beaten Rocky anytime.

  • Where on the film is all this "famous arm beating" I heard so much of?

  • You would have to ask ALI..he made the statement. Who knows how long it took to make the films? There were 2 films made apparently. Each with different results.

  • What's great about Larry Holmes? Only second in title defences to Joe Louis, most KO's in a row as Champ, gave shots to the most undefeated younger contenders, possibly best left jab, most active as Champ, 29 year long career, great ring generalship, never lost his fast hands, plus could take a punch, didn't duck anyone. Plus, you have to like a guy who was working since shortly after he could walk, always spoke his mind and could have a career in stand up comedy.

  • Yeah in his title defences there are lot's of bums and rookies and then some sick old men like Ali. Like I said he ruled a very weak era. Had he been born 10 years earlier or later he would have been nothing but cannon fodder for likes of Foreman, tyson or Ali adn Joe Frazier. After he lost his first fight it must have made serious impact mentally cause it was all downhill. But anyway it was seen how afraid he was of Tyson when they fought, Tyson would have destouyed him anytime so he was lucky.

  • WELL PUT

    .

  • First off, Marchegiaanoouu, rifleman522, bruiser35, thebrian420, are all usernames that swaggingrebel uses to agree with himself and hide behind when he wants to sound semi-normal. What normal 15 year old boy has imaginary friends and constructs a whole fastasy world to support his delusions? Like I've said before, get some fresh air, sunshine, meet some "goils" they're not so bad, leave mom's trailer once in a while, but leave your neighbour's frillies alone on the clothes line, she'll KO you!

  • OOH! Grandpa got little disillusionary! This "swaggerinrebel" do you see him often, can't stop think about him? And all these other imaginary friends you are seeing. Don't worry pops you can get some medicine to get rid of your hallusinations.

Hey you are not 15 anymore, you are at least 60 but don't worry life is not over yet, you can still go outside and meet some people maybe they will even talk back to you. I don't know what "goils" are some of your imaginary friend again?

  • But one thing I can take as a compliment, if you seriously think my english is good enough to believe that I am native english speaking american.

But anyway I am proud of being european and not part of your ignorant country. Like it has been proven many time just by viewing pages like youtube it's full of arrogant shitheads and crazy jealous people.

  • Let's get 1 thing straight Mike. BRUISER35 is NOT...REPEAT NOT... a user name associated with ANY of those others that you choose to mention. If you are inferring that I sound (?) semi-normal then that is your prerogative. I have neither the time nor inclination to address such an inane statement. I make what I consider to be reasonably intelligent comments about subjects that I have some understanding. By the way, I gave you a green tick for 1 of your comments. Semi-normal. Your words PUGCAT.

  • Actually youre wrong thebrian420 was my old myspace account just FYI. I dont know about those other names but they aren't me

  • Ali stated after the making of the Super Fight that he could hardly lift his arms because Rocky hit so hard. Rocky always finished his fights the same way that he started them...FRESH. ALL fighters have problems with some fighters. Because one person can beat another does not make them any better than a person who can't. It's just the nature of the game. Try it ..I have.. 35 times. Not a champion but I beat some that very good fighters couldn't.

  • @bruiser35 , Ali was not allowed to punch Marciano hard while Marciano was given the freedom to throw his best punches at Ali. It is to give a handicap to Ali being much younger, taller and heavier than Marciano. Watch the fight and observe the "kid glove punches" of Ali while Rocky keeps on coming swinging and not fearing that Ali would hurt him. it's because Ali did not have the intention to hurt him. That's part of the deal.

  • full body shots were okay, no hits to the head, that were the rules.

and marciano could destroy a body good, he broke bones and blood vessels not only once, almost killing a guy called vingo in 4 rounds.

and ali teased him by hitting his toupee of, he said stoo or ill punch for real, ali couldn'r resist, punched it off and got a suzy q to the right, went down and screamed he wants another 2000 $ to go back in the ring with marciano.

he couldn't imagien what suzy must have felt like in Ms prime.

  • LaStarza was tough to go the distance with Rocky and then want to come back for a rematch. I'd be having nightmares about going 15 rounds with Marciano and I sure as hell wouldnt want to get in the ring with him again

  • I don't see what's so special about Larry Holmes? He was just uninteresting bum who fought in a very weak era. Rocky Marciano would beat that bum easily. Look at how scared he was of Mike Tyson when he made a litle comeback fight to cash it out from Mike Tyson's popularity. After he lost his first fight it was all downhill and the losses just kept coming. Mike Tyson would have destrouyed him in any day so would Rock!

  • All of you who are using statistics like reach and height, style, and everything else always miss the point. In the ring, none of that shit means a thing. Who would beat whom in a match that never happened is pointless speculation. You know who would win any fight? The one with the most desire to win, combined with stamina and power, so any fighter can win or lose a fight at any given time. The statistcs mean nothing.

  • I wish poeple faught like that these days, it would be so much easier xD

  • Stats say it all. Rocky WAS the greatest. However, nobody has mentioned Joe Lewis.Look at Lewis in HIS prime. Knockout power in either hand, speed and talent to burn. Clay was as close to Lewis in everthing but pure power. Lewis was far and away the BEST of his time and NOBODY had his technique until Clay came along. Take away Clay's mouth/bullshit and he was majestic to watch but for pure skill and power Nobody surpassed Joe Lewis.

  • I agree with you about Rocky and Joe Louis. In my opinion, as far as style, I think Walcott was closer in style to Ali, than Louis was. Louis had very little footwork, and stood directly in front of his opponent for the most part, but boy could he make you miss and he could punch. Walcott, of course he did not have the speed of Ali, but a lot of his time was spent fighting while he was stepping back, much like Ali. Just my opinion.

  • Sure Rocky would need to take some hits from Ali to get close but Ali would not be able to avoid Rocky for full 15 rounds if that would be the limit of the fight. When Rocky gets close, Ali would be at the disadvantage cause then Rocky's reach disadvantage becomes and advantage.

Also Rocky would never lose like Liston he would never give up a fight. He simply refused to lose and his attitude was more like he would rather die than lose a fight.

  • Very true Marchegiannnoouu. Also, Ali and Dundee both admitted Rocky was much harder to hit than he let on. Have you seen the video Wide World of Sport 1976 where Ali speaks of Marciano and his power? He also admits Marciano was better than Joe Frazier, and he admits he doesn't know if he could have beat Rocky.

  • Yeah I just watched it earlier. It was interesting and another video where Ali admits Rocky would be hard opponent for him

  • Rocky would knock Ali out in about 6-10 rounds.

  • Really?? Rocky by KO, are you smoking crack? Let's see... Ali in his prime was the most elusive heavyweight ever... an un-hittable target for men his OWN size..

How do you see Rocky's little guy frame getting close enough to hit Ali without being whacked back out of range constantly by cascading jab, cross combos...?

Rocky goes the way of Liston... maybe not a KO, but he resigns from the fight realizing that he's just not built for Ali... too short.

Also take a look at the shot Ali took from.

  • Fraizer... If an out of his prime Ali can get up from that kind of shot without being counted out, I think the chances of a Rocky Marciano KO are non-existent. I actually don't think Marciano even has the reach to make it happen.

    Frazier: 5 ' 11 - 73" Reach

    Marciano: 5 ' 10 - 68" Reach

    The Greatest: 6 ' 3 - 80" Reach

make your own comparisons just keep in mind that Ali dismantled Sonny Liston (6 ' 1 - Reach: 84" !!!) twice.

  • Out of his prime Ali actually showed first time that he had really great chin. Just look at "prime" Ali facing Henry Cooper. Ali wasn't carefull enough and Cooper took the chance and knocked Ali down. Ali looked really dizzy but was saved by the bell and his corner got him back conscious.

Frazier and Ali had 3 hardfought wars. Frazier was mainly one handed fighter, left hook was his strongest weapon but Rocky had knock out power in both of his hands and his right hand was much more deadlier

  • yes i would rather lissn to the korean commentators ...would be more realistic than this music and Marchegiaanoouuu you shouldnt write fucking korean commentators...fucking rasist

  • Oh sorry man if you felt offended. I just thought cause you seemed to like the word "fucking" so much so I wanted to use it on my sentence too and that was the most suitable place for it.

  • And this song is a piece of shit too...

  • There's no possibility that Marciano could have beaten Ali... shove that computer simulation and the fucking refrigerator sized computer that made it, up your funky ass.

  • Marciano absolutely destroys Ali. That loud mouthed piece of shit would be nothing agaisnt the greatest of all time Rocky Marciano!

  • That loud mouthed piece of shit was the fastest fucking heavyweight ever to enter the ring... Marciano was too old school for Ali, he'd have gotten hit from every conceivable angle numerous times.

In addition, Rocky was way, waaaay too short to ever have gotten inside on Ali without taking enough combos to drop...

An Ali, not in his prime, knocked out George "Fucking" Foreman. A primed Ali drops Marciano in 8, if for not other reason then that he literally "HULKS" over the rock.

  • Ali would not drop Rocky. George Foreman was knocked out from sheer exhaustion. Ali was brilliant strategian and George trusted too much on his punching power so he drove him self way too tired. Young George Foreman had poor stamina, Rocky on the other hand is said to be the best conditioned heavyweight ever. Ali would not get him tired the same way he got Foreman. Rocky had just an impressive chin that Ali would not be able to KO him. His chances would be on TKO or decision but I think Rocky

  • you guys know ZERO.....Next to Ali he was the greatest ever......would have ko'ed even a young Louis......Patterson ? don't make me laugh....Tyson ? NO shot....Frazier ? i don't think so.....the only two guys i could see giving him a possiable problem are ALI AND MAYBE FOREMAN on pure size......woulod have kicked Holmes ass just like spinks did....give this legend his due

  • kompanionidiot!!! Youre a real idiot ..why the freacking fucking hell do u put music on fights??

  • Would you like to listen the fucking korean commentators instead?

  • i was alive...Marciano fought in a weak era. I know boxing very well. Marciano could punch abd was an icon for sure but no way he takes on the guys coming...maybe Paterson...but Liston? Ali, Frazier, Foreman...if u know boxing u know that he would have not fared well. Still gotta love the Rock. Punch? Unnatural. A great!

  • Woaah, that incredible right of Marciano on LaStarza's face!! How can he stand up after that brutal combination???

  • Wow a lot of opinions in here. I just have to say this was a great fight. Marciano is my all time favorite but Roland was a tough sob to go the distance with the rock. I wish boxing was still like this. I missed out on the era of truly great fighters. They don't make em like Rocky, Joe Louis or RaStarza anymore

  • now they all have nicknames, but marciano really was rocky, a train, a blockbuster! Homage to this great fighter!

  • may god forgive marciano...rest in peace rocky

  • Yeah A MISCARRIAGE! three years and 2 losses later. FINALLLY La Starza got his rematch. It's always something with Marciano.Old shot & often light guys. THen there's the mob connection. Then there's the 49 and 0. I mean why not 50 and 0. The product of very good post war and suspiciously manufactured icon. Always looking back & never looking forward at contenders. When he did look forward he quit. Some icon. 49-quit. An exciting fighter to watch but so was Ward vs Gatti. Neither the greatest.

  • Why don't you ignore him, then?

It's amusing to read the mass of disappointed for Marciano's legacy.

  • I love Marciano! Truly. Great fighter?..u bet! Nice guy?...none nicer...why do I critique him?..because I don't want young boxers to ever think that the Rock's style in something to emulate. Why do I care? ..because my grandson is an amateur boxer. I want him in and out, side to side, Sticking and moving and thinking I love boxers and only Marciano could be Marciano. I create an opposite which causes debate. Through debate knowledge is gained. How could anyone not LIKE the Rock.

  • The second fight was not a miscarriage of justice or "bought." La Starza got his ass pummelled! He was in the hospital for weeks. But LaStarza was one tough SOB to take all the abuse plus the broken blood vessels in his arms. They don't make Rocky's or Roland's anymore!

  • The scoring for the bout was 5-4, 4-5, 5-5, but La Starza lost on a supplemental point system used by New York and Mass. at that time. La Starza's record at 37-0. According to newspaper reports, the decision was "universally condemned around ringside as a miscarriage of justice". La Starza maintains to this day that he deserved the decision, saying "The fact is his manager Al Weill was matchmaker for the Garden. I would say that had a lot to do with the decision." Marciano was owned by the mob.

  • Wow......look at Relentless Rocky pound and step and pound and step and pound and step to victory over LaStarza. That referee could really move eh lol

  • Marciano had broken many blood vessels in Roland's arms. La Starza wasn't the same afterwards. He ended Jou Louis' Career and Carmine Vingo's. Walcott wasn't the same after that devastating punch. Marciano killed him in an early round in his second fight with Walcott.

  • he is the legend

  • The true GREATEST!

  • heart of a lion........hard work.......and natural punchimg power

  • Hahahah Rocky is plaing with him :D

  • By the way good video mate i liek the music suits it n Rockys just my best boxer

  • someone tell me what boxings all about do you have to be a great boxer even if you aren't that heavy and aint that good at lifting weights but you got heart and you won't give up you keep fighting is that any good or is that jsut useless ?

  • Hey triggert531, if Cus hadn't died Tyson might still be Champ. Who did Tyson beat? Off the top of my head, 4 heavyweight champs, plus he was the only guy to stop Larry Holmes. Without Cus' influence Mike Tyson imploded. Even a 45 year old Larry Holmes would have given the LaStarza or Marciano the "Jaime Howe treatment", neither of them would have any real business being in the same ring with Holmes.

  • good video to the GREATEST!

    What's song name?

  • From the first round to the end... Rocky is searching for you... there is no escape... if you accept the battle you'll be beaten... if you avoid the collision... you'll be beaten! So... you choose!

  • i dont know why you would ever want to get up from a knockdown against the rock...

  • Anyone who doesn't think Marciano was a great fighter does not know boxing.

  • UNFORTUNATE marciano was in with muppets tell EZZARD CHARLES that......it's just a god dam shame the way he left us...... if we r talking ALI-MARCIANO.. .. the ROCK would have finished what FRAZIER didn't and should have

  • Ring Magazine's Fight of the Year (1953), referee Ruby Goldstein. LaStarza was a great fighter of proven ability. Rock actually held him up here following irritating claims by LaStarza before the fight. Afterwards, from the hospital, LaStarza would say that he wished Rock had just KO'd him sooner. Marciano had untested endurance, resistance, stamina & power. Greatest fighter who ever lived. LaStarza had to undergo surgical treatment for broken bones & blood vessels in his arms.

  • laStarza is my uncle... he is bad ass..

  • Marciano was also matched with old men who's "best days were already behind them" Joe Louis is no exception, he had lost his quickness. LaStarza just was never all that good. What name boxer did he ever beat, other that Rex Layne?

  • Pugcat with a great point, now put in the name Mike Tyson PUGCAT and you get the same answer....who did he fight...old men past their times, tomato cans, ect. everytime he came up against someone willing to fight, Douglas, Holyfield, Lewis, Williams, McBride, He lost. However this guy Marciano never lost. So if everyone calls Tyson the best, what does that make Marciano.....like superhuman....I guess so, since the comparison is perfect.....don't you agree? , No? Thought so.

  • Lastarza was a terrific fighter, actually. Several argued that he won the first fight with Rock. Lastarza was unbeaten then too at an official 37-0. The second time he fought Marciano he was offically at 53-3, which was damn quality stuff. After he fought Marciano the second time, he was really shot for his career. Marciano really damaged him. Still though, Lastarza was as quality an opponent as you got and he deserves credit and so does Rocky for besting him.

  • LaStarza had a good career boxing other club fighters, Marciano Vs LaStarza sold a lot tickets in New York City, no doubt.

  • If it's so absurd, why does it hit such a nerve? What ever happened to your plan for world domination? Why does the "Pinky and the Brain" theme song come to mind? "What are we doing tonight, Brain?" "Same as every night, Pinky, try and take over the the world!"

  • First off who ever said I was black? The only guys Marciano fought who were over 6 feet tall or over 200 lbs were old club fighters who weren't big punchers. Rocky boxed small and SLOW, what choice did he have with that 67 inch reach and boots glued to the canvas? The sight of Floyd Patterson who had speed and foot work, gave him "back spasms". How many little guys who waltzed around flat foot got title heavyweight title shots after 1956? Zero, Roland LaStarza was a good club fighter, that's all

  • PUGCAT: LOL, so, according to that statement, you think Joe Louis was an old club fighter who couldn't punch big? LOL. Louis, was about 6'2-which is in fact, over six feet tall. He was over two hundred pounds of muscle, 69-2 with 55 KO's when he faced Marciano. Couldn't punch? Club fighter? I had no idea.

  • hmm...marciano retired because the thought of fighting floyd patterson (???) brought fear to his soul- pul-leeze already! gotta brooklyn bridge ya want to try sellin' to the rest of us while your at it, pugglsy?

  • watch Joe Frazier vs George Chuvalo for a real heavyweight war!

  • what is this music?it's awsome,please e-mail me

  • pugcat, you talk outa your black slag arse,Marcian woild have ko F-ing Holmes,f-ing big tree trunk homosexual!!haha

  • songs gay, so are Rockys oponents

  • Neither of these little hacks would have been contenders in the sixties or seventies, let alone being in with any era Larry Holmes, he would have gave them both the Mavis Frazier treatment, KO'ed either of them in 3 rounds or less. Even a pre 1960 George Chuvalu would have worn both of them down and knocked them out, watch the Mike DeJohn match, but hey, he fought like a sissy, the Washer Woman!

  • This rematch should have happened immediately after the 1st fight but Marciano looked the other way.

  • La Starza almost won his first fihht with Marciano. One judge for Rocky, one for Roland, and the ref called it even. They had to go to individual points to give Marciano the split deceision.

Anyway good video, but the disco music is silly.

  • ummm..lets not forget why marciano didnt KO him, he was still hung up about putting 6'4" Vingo in a coma.

  • Lastarza was awesome too.First to go the distance with the Rock.

  • You're right about LaStarza being awesome, however both Don Mogard and Ted Lowry had gone the distance with him prior to the first fight. That said, LaStarza was the first man who went the distance with him without being content just to survive, he was winning most of the early rounds until the Rock wore him down.
