Julia was my heroine growing up. While other kids were playing sports and chasing the gender of their choice, I was poring over Julia's cookbooks and videos, especially the "how to cook" video series and her two volume "Mastering the Art of French Cooking."
This was hilarious t watch I'm sure she had a blast doing it.
I sure hope the movie is flattering to her, I couldn't bear anything critical. She was such a wonderful person I miss her terribly.
I am friends with a very diffficult lady who is critical of everrything and who used to know Julia Child, amongst all kinds of other really famous people. She rolls her eyes at plenty, tears a new one for quite a few, but when I asked her about Julia C. she got very serious and said, "She was incredible, like no one else. She had a brilliant mind. There will never be another like her."
She's incredible. Once some station did a show called "Refrigerators of the Stars." They just dropped in and asked to look inside their refrigerators. Julia's fridge door was full of beer. That's when I knew I loved her.
I must have every cookbook by Julia - have watched every episode - including the famous Saturday Night Live episode - but have to admit - this is a new one for me. Great!
does anyone have the commercial she did for the Public Broadcasting Stations? I think she did those back in the mid-90s or so. She knew how to laugh at herself and it was soooo funny!
look...i'm telling you. That confused the hell out of me. When she pulled the souffle out of the oven I was like, is that how it's supposed to look. Weird.
I can only assume from the title that this refers to the fact that burnt food is mainly the carbon remains of whatever compounds originally constituted that particular foodstuff.

The host of this show totally reminds me of Ronnie James Dio.
I just found out he died in 2005....

I saw the movie and they did a great job portraying her as a real person with hopes and dreams and food as her passion. Meryl Streep was fabulous!

My husband's PR person was Mrs. Child's PR person at the time of her death and he says the same glowing things about her that your friend does.
