Interesting if one wants to either see the stepped process for detonating the mines, or how a soldier can be ordered through each step. It would have been great to see the actual mines, with watermelons (or something similar) in close proximity. All the video shows is clouds of smoke. It could be M-80's for all we know.

Have you ever seen a claymore detonate IRL? the concussion is breathtaking it will rattle your teeth. When we watched the demonstration in field training we were 100 yards away and down a hill from where it was set off at and it was nearly defining. Also those men were on a test range therefore their BDU's were whatever issue that there unit was issued and irrelevant to what they were doing because they were on base.

As far as the Claymore there is nothing that one can use to visualize the blast, and potential damage causing effects. Which was why i suggested using something that viewers could associate. if a watermelon was to be pureed in 2 seconds, then a viewer would be able to visualize the potential effects of the blast.

well some can be detonated via proximity, but i doubt with lasers.......they could prob do it, in a theoretical sense.....but they typically use trip wires or something. Here is a clippet from wikipedia.

According to NATO, anti-personnel mines are prohibited(Although some countries do break this law). In Canada we do not use anti-personnel mines, although still have them in stock. They are slowly being taken out of the service. A Claymore, is now not considered a mine, it is a Defensive Command Detonated Weapon. And thus by NATO laws, shall not be set-up with a trip wire, pressure plates, infrared sensors, etc, and only initiated by a person controlling the detonator.

Yes, they can be used as mines, I will not argue the fact. Although in the Cdn army, we have no authorized means of initiating the dcdw except the assembly kit that is provided with the weapon(Green army only). Also, only a few trades, such as Cbt Engineer's, and infanteers spec'd pioneer's are taught improvised explosive techniques.

But it is HIGHLY illegal, and the consequences of doing so are extremely grave, not only to the soldier who set the dcdw up, but for the country as well.
