@DomoDoughty, Don't blame your generation. Blame the Music Companies and MTV. Music now is not Art but Product. You have to have a certain look, personality, etc, and the music is secondary.
It costs more money to produce and create new music like JB, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell (who the record companies chased out because she refused formulated music)
I just hope your generation looks into Soul, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Classical and any music that is unique.
@8bobthebuilder, Because the record companies have their own "composers" and musicians. They just need a pretty face to sell the product. It's all formulaic. That music is done very quickly, needing very little studio time. More time is spent on choreography than composing. The music differs little from song to song. Even MC Hammer stole Rick James music and a lot of JB moves & is out out of music because he is not an artist.
A True and Original American Icon......they should build the biggest statue ever made of him in his honor...best music artist and pure entertainer who ever walked onto the stage!!! He makes all the others look pale in comparison, although I love and pay homage to all the others who were GREAT, too! JB was just so much above the others, though. He is incomparable...the God Father of soul and funk. May he rest in peace.
@lenoxroad yes he could still kick it until he passed, loved his music always love the drum beats there where so funky I would play along to it on the drums

If you can manage to keep your seat once that first note hits, you have no soul and should probably check your pulse.

I love James Brown. I seen him at woodstock ( 99 ) George Clinton opened up for him, Blew them all away!!!

The music is great. What I like about James Brown and other great composers is how they combined 1 layer of the music over the other.
1. The guitar riff, simple but beautiful in it's simplicity, it needs nothing else.
2. The rest of the music floats on top of it.
Fantastic.
