President Bush ordered the Space Shuttle program to be ended by 2010, which was later extended to 2011. I don't think Obama is any savior, but at least get your facts right! He had nothing to do with it.

The manned space program was a large draw on government resources with few to no benefits. Why shouldn't we have cancelled this program? After all, It was basically a giant pissing contest between the USSR and the United States.
@drlf100 While I acknowledge the fact that many technologies have been born or advanced by NASA, I must point out that I was not suggesting that NASA was useless. I was merely making the point that manned space travel is fairly unneeded at the moment.

Mars is a large peice of land ripe for colonization, but first comes exploration.And not just many technologies came from nasa, everything made after apollo has had somthing to do with nasa, from computers to the metal in door handles.That is what's wrong.Democrats dont think about the future. You should do research.
@drlf100 Obama did not cancel NASA... it was a mandatory hault in space exploration to build a newer rocket that was planned before obama even came to office.... they are getting ready to land on mars....
@JUDALATION The Constilation program was in development before Obama, but Obama cancelled manned the manned space program, ending the constilation program, but now it is getting back on track, as cheaper designs which have not been aproved by congress or even all of NASA. And no, the new rockets are not designed to go to mars. They are by far (adjusting for inflation) the cheapest garbage nasa has rolled out. If Obama would realize that nasa is good, they might give them $.
