i have never played a flight sim for civilian aircraft (but plenty of COMBAT flight sims)... but one thing i dont get is, why do the passenger jets that carry so many people have no HUD to show the landing cross that most modern fighter jets have?

i simply do not get it.

but in low vis, like the one in this vid, wouldnt it be really damn unsafe? with the HUD and all the usual instrumentation (the cross and where the aircraft's going), it's easier and safer, isnt it? tbh, i felt pretty damn insecure when i was watching this vid. like it'd crash any time.

i'd imagine that an aircraft the size of a 737 or larger is not as responsive as a nimble fighter, especially when landing. so unlike a fighter, it's harder to go around and do the little adjustments.

@maimutul1 Both are pretty good and handle realistically, but the iFly has better interior and exterior textures than the PMDG. The PMDG has more features though.

@scotplane - Actually it was really cool because he was able to see the rabbit... the white strobe light that runs up to the red side-row bars. Per FAA regulation (which I believe is mirrored by ICAO,) this allows the pilot to continue down to 100' above TDZE, by which time the runway or red side-row bars would have been easily visible. I can see that even in this video the Captain's voice is coming from the right channel only, especially when you make public announcements. I have asked in the forum for help on this problem but they couldn't help, so I no longer use FS2crew because my right speaker is very from where I sit, so that means that nothing will sound correct when it comes from the captain. Just bought both of these for FSX and love them! Had a couple of issues with the MCP altitude not changing no matter whats pressed, and if given voice command to FO to set FL350 then it will go as high as FL090 and then stop but he says its set to FL350.... Very strange but im sure its something im doing.

the only thing i hate is that the cockpit kills my fps... i have a 5450 of 1gb and 4gb of RAM and my fps inside are of 10-15 as much in airport movements ass apps or TO, but the outside view is over 30 fps with a 33fps limit set. how can i fix it or its just like that?

A little joke . When you say like the real operating checklist . Well doesn't it say to have the runway in sight when you are at minimums @ 5.19 minimums is clearly heard and no runway in sight. But well it can't be completely like the real thing . Great Vid reviewing it soon

@ferrarimaniac2011 Almost, but checking at the GPWS and minimums callouts in the landing, the DH is about 140ft. This will make a CATII landing if RVR is about 300-450m.

In CATIII landings minimums are even lower. DH is below 100ft. for CAT3A, 50ft. for CAT3B (this is over the threshold) and NO DH for CAT3C landing (fully autoland with 0 visibility).
