I am not Chinese, but I have studied some of the Chinese culture and language when I was in school, so watching this anime for me in Japanese was a little confusing at times b/c I find myself still trying to distinguish between two cultures, though I was able to understand what the author was trying to get at. I can't imagine how uncomfortable it must have made you! I'm very sorry! I feel terrible too that Shuurei dies ='(

Or, since it is strongly suggested that she may be the reincarnation of Bara-hime, the clan was trying to take Bara-hime's powers or resurrect her. Either way. Because Bara-hime was the captured flower of the leader of the Hyou clan. (the some-80 year old guy that looks young)

saiunkoku monogatari is a really good anime but the atmosphere of the anime needs work because of it it makes it hard to watch the anime. needs to lighten up in a sense. i would rate it a 3.0 or so. u should stil lwatch it
