  • Very good intro into Cisco Switches! Thanks Man.

  • In order to save a copy of your config file on your computer (which I assume you're trying to do) you have to have a TFTP server running on the computer you wish to send that file to, and then enter a command that will copy the file from the device to the server running the TFTP program. Email me and I have a nifty, lightweight, TFTP program I used to use.

  • Sorry... I'd also like to know how to "reset" or restore the switch to "factory defaults" to be able to go throught the initial setup myself. Thanks.

  • The original video was much longer... this was just for a class. To erase the config file just type "write erase" and then "reload" to reboot it. If the device is password protected so you can't get in, you'll have to perform a break sequence during boot up and delete the config manually.

  • @hotblooded103f

He showed you how to erase the start up config. also you would need to use the command

    Switch#delete vlan.dat

I think that is what you are asking

  • Great info! Thank you. I just got a 3548XL to learn on. Can you give me some info on how to save a switch config file?

  • I just took a look.. the command is

    copy run tftp

and then on the next line it'll ask for the tftp server IP
