What i do is make sure that i'm running as less services as i can, you can find out more about windows services at: blackviper (.) com

Always have an anti-virus, i have kaspersky running great for me, use firefox as my web navigator.

Download freeware Ccleaner to clean up your hard drive from time to time and also use auslogics disk defrag to defrag my computer.

Make sure you have the minimum of items at start up which you can find by running msconfig and have my boot run both cores ....etc...

@dajoeng it came with my laptop it's called the Dell Dock by Stardock, but you can find a better from Rocket Dock.

no problem, mine took a while too. you might want to run ccleaner at least once a week to keep your pc clean. i'll be making a startup improvement video too.
