  • I think that Mike Smith has a good goal in 2009 but in 2010,it is bad....

  • That horse that finished behind Zenyatta in the 2009 $5 million dollar "Breeders Cup Classic" has won 6 million dollars and 7 Grade I events.

Zenyatta + Gio Ponti = 20 Grade I wins and over 13.4 million dollars in earnings.

  • It is strong.

  • So Andrew Beyer once again wrote an article to discredit Zenyatta. The last paragrapgh of the article reads "When racing fans of the future look back at the record of a mare who excelled on long-forgotten substances called Pro-Ride and Cushion Track, they are apt to regard Zenyatta as a historical curiosity rather than an all-time great racehorse."

I pray that Zenyatta kicks some serious butts in BC and proves Beyer is wrong!!!

  • I cant believe she managed to beat the Great Twice Over, how is that possible? What a horse she must be

  • Lmao Zenyatta Pissed all over these , FACT , Whats the storty with Zenyatta now , wish she'd race in the Arc

  • This was scary. She TOYED with this group.

  • Zenyatta to Saratoga !!

no more detention barn rule for new york racing

  • You never know. Rachael could get a easy lead and just cantor home with Z a tiring 4th.

  • @whatitis117 If you look up the times and distances of both horses on Wiki...Zenyattas Handicap races have better times than Rachel on the same distance and Zenyatta is carrying 129 pounds.Zenyatta would dust Rachel at 1 1/8...or 1 1/16 easily...Mike Smith said a Jockey knows when a horse is giving all its got...and He hasnt felt that from Zenyatta yet...He also said He and Zen would sit 8 lengths back on Rachel til its time to kick.

  • The way Rachel Alexandra look's in 2010, it's almost obscene to even mention her name in the same sentence as Zenyatta's. Simply put, Zenyatta was in 2009 and is in 2010 just too much mare for Rachel. I don't care what kind of splits Rachel run's. She's not going to tire out Zenyatta. This big, behemoth mare can run till the cows come home. These days, Zenyatta wouldn't have to break much out of the exercise canter she won the Apple Blossom in to run by Rachel in the stretch. IMO.

  • Say whatever you want about Zenyatta, but replay doesn't lie. She passed all these colt's like they were backpedaling. So say she's not for real if you want? But she's 16 for 16 now. And I don't care if you're racing donkeys, that's hard to accomplish. Just ask Sea The Stars. He lost to a bunch of donkeys in his first lifetime start before he went on to greatness.

  • I hope we can see a repeat of this at churchill this fall (:

Good luck for the rest of the year!

  • Zenyatta coming flying on the grandstand side...the most beautiful words I ever heard:)

  • Zen is clearly the better horse, but rachel still earned horse of the year as a 3yo

  • @cmcgarth1O Winning the BC Classic should have given it to Zenyatta. SHe TOYED with this group. Didn't even get going until the furlong marker.

  • @UglyFemaleHypnotists 1 race doesn't guarantee hoy

  • Rachel Alexandra has done thing's that normal fillies don't do. I'll acknowledge that. But she's also been a bit over-hyped as well. Her reputation was forged in races with "prestigious names", certainly not with "prestigious competition." Zenyatta is just too big an physical for Rachel to hold off in the stretch. Period. It's not rocket science, it's "NATURE." Zenyatta just has that "God Given" ability to run down and run by whatever horses lay in her path. No disgrace to lose to this Queen.

  • @GBeret83 Same goes for Zenyatta, she won the Classic against not prestigious competition. I think its crazy that ppl are even debating who should be horse of the year, Rachel in the Haskell was unbelievable, romped the Preakness from the outside post, won the oaks by 20 lengths in a canter, sorry but its a no brainer

  • @cmcgarth1O You are right. It is a no brainer. A no brainer that Zenyatta deserved to win. First off, Rachel didnt even show up at the breeders cup. No, it wasnt because she had a rough campagin already, or if the poly wasnt too her liking, it was because Zenyatta was there. Jackson can make all the excuses in the world he wants, but he will never, ever, have Rachel beat Zen. And thats all that there is to it.

  • @cmcgarth1O The only reason Rachel won by 20+ lengths in the Oaks is because the others weren't really horses, they were donkeys. Rachel's mile split was 1:36 at the La Troienne same as the Oaks. The big difference this year is there are tougher horses running against her. No more 3 year old baby fillies and immature 3 year old males.

  • @GBeret83 And beat the older horses aswell

  • @GBeret83 Like Zen is normal? Both of them beat Summer Bird, and Rachel had a huge pace edge in the Haskell when Summer bird dueled to 110 and change. Zenyatta had a full head of steam at the wire, and is so much better than everyone it's not even close. Rachel is ducking her.

  • @UglyFemaleHypnotists why do people assume they are ducking. Lame!

  • Dr. Fager was an excellent sire.Sired champions Dearly Precious, Dr. Patches, La 'Alezane...and lead the sires list once. Over 10% SW.

I rate Dr. Fager in my top three of all time and as is the nature of things sometimes he is #1 and sometimes #3. ;)

But, I more compare Rachel to him than Zenyatte in terms of type and quality. He went as far as he could as fast as he could and I think Rachel is a lot like that. Though possibly more tractable.

Neither of them rates with him though.

  • @Helzapoppin03 You can't find Dr. Fager with a flashlight in most modern pedigrees. Northern Dancer, Blushing Groom, and Mr. Prospector are the dominant sires from that era. Their children are dominant now, particularly the ones that cross them.

  • I seen all of the great race horses since 1954 and I never thought I would ever see a horse as good as Dr. Fager. Zenyatta is the best race horse I have ever seen.

    Buddy Hogan

  • I think even Sheriffs underestimated HOW STRONG ZENYATTA IS. That is why when Moss asked him to run Zen in 2010, he didn't hesitated.

Why Rachel is even mentioned with the same sentence as Zenyatta is unbelievable.

Look at the ease she was passing GIO and still gapping out at the finish.

  • Time for Rachel to be crushed like a cheap beer can.

  • Rachel is a wonderful champion and one worthy of recognition. However, Zenyatta deserves a mantle all to herself. Special does not begin to describe her. She truly is a horse of a lifetime.

Rachel by no means is "cheap" per se. In the final analysis, she simply is not in the same classification as Zenyatta. At least in my opinion.

  • For sure

  • Don't be an ass. So is not "cheap" brat

  • @sthygersen, and if Jackson ever actually grows enough balls to actually put her on the same track as Zenyatta, she will be.

  • @sthygersen Quality Road changed his name to Rachel?

  • Oaklawn offered up $5 million if both Z and RA race in the Apple Blossom in April. They also changed the distance from 1 1/16 to 1 1/8. Let's get it on!!!

  • Sweet video been wanting to see it thanks.

  • Zenyatta will race in 2010 !!!

Lookout racing world. the queen is back

  • shes the queen of santa anita, has she even won at belmont? never mind longchamp...

  • So the 2009 world horse rankings were announced a couple of days ago.

Sea the Stars was officially the world champion with a rating of 136. Goldikova 2nd on 130, Rip Van Winkle 129, Fame and Glory and Zenyatta on 128 and Rachel Alexandra.

Sea the Stars is officially rated the 9th best horse of all time. He is the best horse I have ever seen race.

  • same here, and everyone who wasnt alive for dancing brave must say the same, best 3yo colt in a long long time, and as i already said, and the handicapper obviously agrees, goldikova is the best mare in the world and has been since zarkava retired

  • I think both of these horses are amazing, and if there was a year for a share in HOY this should be it.

And if Zen does race in 2010 like the rumors say, Apple Blossom with RA. My money would be on Zenyatta.

Like I said, I love both of them and they are both great and I feel lucky to have been able to see them race and witnessed something spectacular with these two fillies.

  • Ericcontroversy,

Reading through the comments, you are really pissing me off with all of your crap talking about these two horses and a racing surface. Obviously there's a best dirt horse, there's a best turf horse, and ther's a best poly horse. So why can't you just shut up and see how amazing these two beautiful mares truley are. Horses like these don't come around often and here we have 2 in one year and all you can talk about is how one is better than the other because of racing surfaces.

  • unfortunately twice over and gio ponti and not even in the same book as goldikova. dont forget zarkava was by an arc winner and wanted 1m4f, she still had the pace to some from last and easily beat a world class miler. just astonishing, she truly was UUUUUNNNNBBBBEEEEELLLIIIIAAAVVAAABBBLLLLLEEEEE!!!!!!!

  • nah i just think the american form was really poor this year. i mean mine that bird? cummon,,,summer bird...legend? unlikely

  • Gutted that Rip Van Winkle couldn't spoil Santa Anita's day by upstaging Zenyatta. Never mind, still love you Rip.

  • I honestly don't understand why Zenyattas win in the Classic is getting diminished because she ran against turf horse? Their better turf horses than the sad group you call older horses Rachel won against this year. You know Gio Ponti, a horse ZENYATTA beat will probably be Older Male. So stop complaining about the turf horses, they're very good. Gio alone, has four grade 1's this year, Twice Over, Rip Van Winkle, these are verry good turf horses.

  • rip never ran his race so dont use him to justify this form, gio is a decent tool and twice over is a group 2 horse

  • Except twice over won a group 1 race so get your facts right. And gio isn't decent, he's pretty damn good so don't start diminishing the field.

  • a substandard group1 stick to ure racing al stick to mine

  • twice over was beat about 30 lengths in a real group 1 race at sandown, his best run to date was probably 6 lengths second to new approach in last years champion(the race he won this year) thats what a real group 1 horse does to twice over, beats him at least 5 lengths because hes not top group 1 although finally proved he could win a weak group 1. as for gio, well hes the best turf horse in america whick really doesn't say much this year as ure turf horses are shit lol

  • Your so full of it why can't you just enjoy the rarity that is Zenyatta and realize that she'll never come around again? Not many horses, actually only one in modern day can stay undefeated. Personal Ensign and Zenyatta. Very RARE. And again stop diminishing the field.

  • the fact that u do not even recognize Zarkava who ran only last year, tells me everything about your tunnel vision of america, use dont see outside america. zarkava is the greatest mare ive ever seen and she makes zenyatta look slow, if u dont believe me have a look at what she did as a 2 and 3yo. as i said, ignorance must be bliss

  • Zarkava ran only seven times and TWO YEARS ago, smart one. Hardly close to Zenyattas 14 or even Rachels 8 race streak. I'm not diminishing her I was only referring to US horses, my mistake for not mentioning it and I know all about her. If your going international Maykbe Diva and even Ouija Board deserve recognition too but I'm not. I'm talking about US horses and Zenyatta trumps all. I love how you RANDOMLY bring her up, If I recall we weren't discussing her whatsoever...

  • makybe diva and ouija board are not in the same paragraph as zarkava, not even on the same page. zenyatta is a second rate zarkava, she could never have dun what zarkava dun at 2 and 3. simple. can only imagine if they had kept zarkava out at 4 and 5... u not think about that. u not think about how she beat GOLDIKOVA on the BRIDLE over 1m and 1m2f and goldikova has now been the best mare in the world for 2 years, that is the kind of horses u need to destroy if u want to be called a great.

  • sorry she wasnt by an arc winner, was thinking dalakani there but thats who she went to breed with last year, nun the less she was a mile n half filly who had all the gears, all the class, and zen mite have got to her arse, maybe

  • cmcgarth10------Obviously there are few fans in the U.S. who know as much about racing and the horses as you do, So, we all humbly bow down to you and offer our thanks for allowing us simple people to share this space with an authority like you. But, despite our ignorance, we still love Zenyatta and consider her a great horse, perhaps one of the best fillies ever. OH, and since you're such an expert, how many angels can dance on the head of a needle?

  • 3 if u count ure mum

  • she retired unbeaten arc winner, same style as zenyatta, same noseband, green colours of the aga khan, u see, use are all a year late with ure wonder filly, because zarkava is the one and only queen of this decade, like it or not. and if im not mistaken, the decade just ended, so zenyatta has no claim to fame on a worldwide basis lol if u want to take the blinkers off and watch her in the prix vermille

    /watch?v=U8h62nadtuw

shes the one who misses the break by 12 lengths

  • Hey duh Ra did way than Z did at 3. Who knows she may come back bigger and stronger.

  • I dare for duhru4real to comment back to me

  • Lmao!!

  • That was just a great, great performance by a great thoroughbred, male or female. Zenyatta is truly one of racing's best, and she proved it on this day. IMO.

  • she is AMAZING

  • nicely said crazyesox..

  • remember this Rachel is a little girl. the best may be yet to come. that's not to take anything away from Zenyatta. she is very worhy of respect.

  • Duhru Zenyatta ran against same field every race and then against turf horses in teh Classic. I like her alot, but you are knocking things that are not true. have a good one:)

  • I do totally appreciate your enthusiam for her but MA running 100+ Beyers in stakes in not a 15K claimer. Cmon man that's just crazy. Anyway you love Zenyatta and that's awesome. Enjoy the sport.

  • Beetle. Macho Again and Bullsbay were trounced in the GRADE TWO (2) (2) Clark. Those BEYER are as overrated and as overhyped as Rachel. Case in point, all those idyuts wise guys from the east coast who said NO WAY to the Zenyatta based on her BEYER HAHAHAHA and then when she won those shameless hacks then blames the track. WOW talk about classless!!

  • @beetles Yah Zen ran against the same field from California and the reason being is just like Jackson, no sane owner/trainer would send their best females to run against the monster Zenyatta.

The only time these top mares (Music Note, Cocoa Beach, Careless Jewel) showd up in Cali is for the Breeders. At least, they showed up. Rachel was so SCARED! I didn't know Summer Bird and Mine that Bird were turf horses? Makes no difference THEY ALL LOOK LIKE SHTLAND PONIES next to the HULKING MARE lol

    lol

  • dude get a fucking LIFE, every day you come to posting comments about this weak mare, rachel is goin to be HOY so shut the fuck up, dude something is every single day, every minute, DAMN!

  • Lil gurl Rachel looks like a fking shitland pony next to this humongous mare.

WHY DA HELL would we want a SHITLAND PONY like lil overrated Rachel HOY? HAHAHAHA

    fking hilarious

  • lol a wouldnt say she was weak but this race certainly was

  • Look u idiot listen to what u just said U said that RA was scared CORRECTION Her CONNECTIONS were scared Id vote for RA because she won grade1 races against colts and older horses She beat Belmont winners DaTara and Summer Bird And Kentucky Derby Winner MTB and won the Kentucky Oaks by 20 1/4 lengths Now Zenyatta ran against the boys once im not saying thats her fault its her connections fault they didnt give her more chances to beat the boys and Id vote for u to once again suck ur own DICK

  • DaTara hasn't been the same since his wire to wire win in the Belmont in 08, matter of fact, I believe thats the last race he won so thats hardly an accomplishment, and Zenyatta beat both birds and only had to do it once, and neither came close to her so your argument isn't that impressive.

  • What are u talking about Zenyatta only beat both birds once because she only met them once now im not saying Zenyatta got lucky or isnt a great horse at all im just saying that id vote for her as horse of the year

  • EXACTLY. She only met them once but she beat them both, at the same time. Didn't take two races to do it! And now your just confusing me, you are voting for Zenyatta for HOY? Because that''s what you wrote....

  • No I ment that Im voting for Rachel and its not her fault she couldnt beat both birds in the same race she couldnt because it was never a time when Mine That Bird,Summer Bird, and Rachel raced at the same time

  • So? Zenyatta still would have won hadidly on any track, any time, instead of making the "she's had a long campaign, she's tired, blah blah" She wins HOY

  • I like both horses but for someone to say this Breeders Cup classic would be tough for anyone else to beat because of "the class of the horses" is crazy. RVW was nothing. Summer Bird was beaten by Rachel and Zen. Gio Ponti is a turf horse. The rest were nags. Go look at other BC classic fields. HOY will be tough. Might have to say Rachel by a nose.

  • JaxRun. who da fk you think your kidding. PULL YOUR HEAD OUT OF OVERRATED RACHEL'S BUTT...lol

  • JaxRun. Do you see Macho Again or Bullsbay on this field? Were they wearing invisible cloaks? HAHAHAHA Makes Rachel's Woodward a 15K claiming race! LOL

  • fuck me, first yank ive heard who didnt fall for the hype, ure spot on, curlins classic was so much stronger than this, and theres been better than curlin, too say this is the horse of all time is the most ludicrous, ignorant thing ive ever heard

  • Zenyatta beat nobody all year and a crap BC field. Seattle Slew,Secretariat,Alysheba,Silver Charm,Giants Causeway, etc never won it and no one remebers them right? Haha what an idiot u are!. I could care less what you say now. You just make idiotic false statements

  • Rach travels to numerous tracks, takes on top fillies, colts, older male and set or tied records in almost every race. All as a 3YO fillly! Zenyatta ducked a wet CD,ducked males in bigger races and ran in one place aagainst same field and pathetic BC field. Ha what a joke

  • you are an idiot!Zen is all class. ra is as well. she could have entered the classic and settled it but decided to rest. dont take that away from zenyatta, she is one of the greats, male or female. Remember Ra beat 3 yr olds all year with 1 race vs older males(A VERY WEAK FIELD). mOST OF HER WINS ARE AGAINST 3 YR OLD FILLIES. Zen is the horse of the year hands down.

  • Umm Zenyatta is a nice horse. never said she wasn't. Rach faced boys how many times? "most of her wins against fillies". HA! Preakness,Woodward,Haskell. All girls right? Geez yeaqh I'm an idiot. ha!

Rach will be HOY. HOY is not one race is all year. Zen faced same field at same place all year. Hmm why didn't they run her the big boy races in CA all year for more money??

  • Sorry for calling you an idiot, your just not smart. I just get frustrated with this attitude toward zenyatta. She beat the best fiel assembled all year. RA in my opinion did not face a field that good. I think the first filly/mare to win the Classic has to be HOY. RA's front running style would have been compromised against the class of horses in the Classic. Zen got it done when it counted. DOn't be a hater.

  • I'm not smart? She beat a turf horse,a overhyped european and Summer Bird(who RA killed)in the BC!. What best field? Don't be a hater? I'm not. But RA did what 3yo do not do. Beat boys, older and set records. We agree to disagree. but I'm not smart? Look at Zens races. Same field BC avg field. Hey maybe they get Co-HOY

  • You just have to look at Zen running against the same field every time and then beating a mediocre field on fake dirt in the BC. Is she good, yeah shes nice, but she did not do what RA did as a 3YO filly and set or tie records everywhere. They would'nt even run Zen against boys or out of town. She ran in BC because it was on fake dirt.

  • WIth the weak shytty 3 year old, Winning Colors and other good fillies would have done the same or better than OVERRATED RACHEL..LOLOLOLOL

  • Don't apologize, this guy is an idiot! What Zenyatta beat in one field was better than what Rachel was doing all year long.

  • rachel must not have dun much then

  • Buddy, the Breeders Cup was created in '84, so you can automatically take out Slew, and Secretariat. Alysheba WON in 88. Where are you getting your facts from? PLEASE, look this up before writing comments on youtube PLEASE.

  • Whatever Rachel Who wins from now on, she's already living in the shadow of mighty Zenyatta. R Who will be forever the second female to win whatever!

  • What did Zen do at 3yr. Not what R did.

  • @ameadwell9999

Simple. These wonderful people, her connections, left her alone to grow up and become the bad monster mare that kicks serious ass and remains undefeated forever.

BTW I don't visit pages of things or people I don't like. I don't see a reason to. And I won't give a thumb down like you did. I have a life and better things to do.

  • Alexandra will go undefeated in 2010 and win the classic and you will never here about Zenwhatever

  • @ameadwell -

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Only very strong horses can go in classic...but rach could go undefeated racing 7 to 8 furlongs...

    lol

  • 7 to 8 furlongs LOL.

I dont think you have seen all her races.

    Wait till she turns 4.

  • rachel will probably be another surfside at 4...sorry dude

  • Did Surfside win the BC as a 2yr?

  • @ameadwell.

True Rachel will be undefeated in 2010 racing in 4 1/2 furlong races. HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • I've always been kind of curious how Zenyatta would have done on turf. As well as she run's synthetics she may have been just as awesome on the grass.

  • Every time I see this I keep asking myself how did she do it? Although I know she did, I always don't believe it and I am always surprised in the end. That was Stupendous!!!

  • In this 2009 year alone, Rachel Alexandra:

    1) has set TWO stakes records for time in: Martha Washington, Mother Goose

    2) has set TWO more stakes records for largest winning margin in: Kentucky Oaks, Mother Goose

    3) was the ONLY horse (male or female) ever to win the Preakness from the far outside gate

    4) was the ONLY female EVER to win the Woodward

    5) TWICE, came within 1 second of breaking the TRACK RECORDS (at Belmont and Monmouth)

    6) had the HIGHEST Beyer Speed rating this year of 116

  • Too bad for Rachel! No chance of beating the legendary Zenyatta. AND it would be worse if Zenyatta wins HOTY. Rachel has no chance next year. She can't enter 3 year old patsy races.

  • Once again Rachel is the champ and Horse of the Year why would she run down a bute sucking cala runner when she is the Queen of racing in the only part in the world that matters

  • @ameadwell.

Once again Rachel is the chump! and Chicken of the Year why would she hide behind you a Rachel tit sucker lol

  • Wow good one. Undefeted and ended with a bang in the BC classic. I could never call Zenn any names because she is after all a great race horse I find it pretty retarded u can call Racheal names but I understand. Its gotta hurt not to win HOTY.

  • ameadwell: why would overrated Rachel winning HOTY going to hurt? She hasn't won one Breeders Cup race yet. Hardly anyone could name HOY but plenty knows Personal Ensign. If Rachel does not win a Breeders cup race, she'd be another Surfside. Forgotten and nothing more but a whimper.

  • Rachel would look like a shetland pony next to the BEHEMOTH ZENYATTA.

Now why would anybody vote a shitland pony HOTY? LOL

  • Lol. Yes she may be small but Champions come in different shapes and sizes. Just look at John Henery or Northan Dancer should I keep going. Looks do not decide who is Champion why dont you try a different sport.

  • Ya ur right no chance she better ship to a bute track and maybe shell win.

  • On dirt, on synthetics, on turf, or in a Winn Dixie parking lot, I'll bet Zenyatta to beat Rachel any day. Rachel would be out front setting quick fractions but Calvin Borel could not stop the runaway locomotive called Zenyatta from running her down and blowing right on by her just like she did against the best 3yr.old and older colt's, not only in the U.S., but from Europe as well in the Classic. JMO.

  • @GBeret83: Rachel would get a load of that huge monster and she'd whimper like a little bambi.

  • Ya right what ru on the juice too

  • She did not beat the best. Get ur shit right man.

  • If Zenyatta did not beat the best then what does here Woodward showed. She beat CLAIMERS. HAHAHAHAHA

  • Long live the Godzilla mare Zenyatta, she did fantastic...I watched the race live, it was the xperience of a lifetime!

  • Who would Rachel be hiding from?

She is just a 3yr filly that has done the impossible. What would be the reason to bring her to the BC to prove what? Do you think Race horses are like cars?

  • @ameadwell:

Impossible? sht! she beat grade 2 (TWO) horses in the woodward. Nothing impossible about that.

Detara can't even win claiming races. Check it out.

Why do you Rachel is no show in the Breeders. She'd be dead last behind Mine that Bird.

  • Claming horses are stake horses in Zenyatta land. thats ware all the wanabe runners go when they cant keep pace at the real tracks.

  • Anyone notice Macho Again got creamed

in the CLARK .grade 2 today. lol and rachel a. barely beat that sorry ass grade 3 horse.

  • I'm sure Zenyatta feels like Godzilla when shes all cranked up on her Juice (Bute).

  • Rachel will win horse of the year for the simple fact that she beat better, males and older males and the toughest races at any distance at the most important tracks.

  • how in the hell they gonna make a poly horse horse of the year...? this aint europe..

  • @ericcontroversy The mare can run on dirt. Weak dirt horses are thankful her home is on poly.

  • Zenyatta is brilliant! Unstoppable.

  • Zenyatta ran one of the best and most powerful races in her carer on the dirt.

  • on dirt 1 time....RA beat males 3times on 3 different tracks...on dirt...

  • Big Deal. Who did she beat? lol. A bunch of crap.

  • @stivo1975 Yah. who da fk did yellow belly Rachel beat. Macho Again an allowance horse and Detara who can't even win a claiming race? HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • Rachel beat boys.

    Zenyatta beat men.

Zenyatta two world championships - Ladys Classic and Cup Classic/

    Rachel = Zero.

  • she did that running on concrete i mean carpet i mean poly track...shit this aint france its the good old usa we run on dirt! thank god the breedres is at church hill next year...see what those west coasr horses do then...

  • Sunday Silence and Zenyatta the heart , will, fight and pride of the west.

we'll see ya next yr. church hill downs : )

  • yeah right...they gonna get they ass kicked like lava man did when u came east..

  • @ericcontroversy Why do you think Rachel hid like a yellowbelly scared lil gurl from Zenyatta?

  • rachel connections said from the start they wasnt comming to cali to run on that crap they run on out west! zen connections had her at church hill this year but took her back to cali cause they said they didnt like the track! all the dirt horses who went to cali to run at the bredders didnt do shit running on that bullshit! praise god the breedrs is at church hill in 2010...this america we run on dirt..whats next yall wanna run the kentucky derby on poly crap?

  • @erriccon: Give it up man, OVERRATED YELLOW BELLY RACHEL hid from this HUGE MARE! RACHEL IS NOTHING BUT A CHICKEN! a big cluck cluck cluck!!

  • she so scared thats why she ran in the preakness...she so scared she beat the boys 3times not once on carpet! matter of fact RA won 5grade 1 races this year ZEN won 4.....and yeah RA did that on dirt...3different race tracks also...

  • @ericcontroversy Rachel couldn't beat this mare with Zen carrying 150 lbs, running backwards on a 870 yard race. It's like GODZILLA(Zen) stomping on lil bambi (Rachel) lmfao!!

  • He travelled more nots than zenyattas prize money

  • How many group 1 races are there in the american season between a mile and a mile na half

  • conversation before the classic

m8 shows me ticket for 40 win zenyatta at 5/1

me - thats good value, shell probly be favourite over there

m8 - thats why i took it, who do you fancy

me - its between rip and the filly and rip has the best form

m8 - i know, if he goes 11/4 on the tote ill take a bit

m8 - what do you hink about midday

me - good chance...cecils got twice over in the classic anaw

    m8 - thats nae chance

    me - i know

  • knowing bill mott and allen paulson they would have shipped cigar over for the breeders cup. and please enough with the Rachel had more races crap. the HOTY isn't decided until DEC 31 witch means any thing can happen. for example Summer Bird is running in Japan for the Japan cup dirt. and if he wins that he will be a strong consideration and if not possibly HOTY. HOTY isn't decided in August or November its december 31.

  • Uh NO they would keep him far away from the Turf and for that matter the synthetics. Do you recall Cigars unremarkable career on turf????????????????????

  • how can horse who finished behind twice over seriously be considered for horse of the year.

  • Anyone thinking SB for HOTY must be throwing the BC.Classic out since it was run on "plastic". Now that the battle is joined for HOTY between RA and Zen I'm hearing a lot about dirt vrs poly and turf. Seems the east coasters think you ain't nothing unless you run on thier rock hard super fast dirt tracks. So toss SB loss in the classic, toss Haskel too, (tired right after the Belmont) and win in Japan and SB has a case. 4G1 wins is 4G1 wins. So yeah if he wins in Japan he got a case.

  • FYI, I think you have to run in a US race to be concidered for our horse of the year award so Rip (and Twice Over?) might get a few votes too. Hard to image USA voters giving it to a Euro horse that only ran here once but .... If I am wrong here someone please correct me.

  • Twice Over deserves it for longest traveller and he beat the mighty Summer Bird. He is the true Horse Of The Decade

  • This rachel/zenyatta debate is ridiculous. People state Rachel won a race over Poly so she likes synthetics. IT was an allowance race as a 2yr old!!!! Next this fake track may be obsolete once the sale of Santa Anita goes through. Strong rumors of a return to dirt. If this happens Zenyatta's achievements will be ambiguous during the odd ball period of Synthetics. This is the equivalent of having Michael Phelps race the 100mm butterfly in a river.

  • The problem with your bs is one of Zenyatta's best race was on dirt where her kicked demolished another Eclipse champion. So for those saying she is just a synthetic horse...well that's for those whose head is up Rachel butt.

  • And earned a miniscule 104 beyer as a 4 year old. Rachel did that as a newbie 3 year old. Brownie Points beat Ginger Punch that day.

  • Beyer numbers are totally bogus for a horse like Zenyatta. Zenyatta had no chance at all of winning the BCC according to the Beyers, instead she ran the highest Beyer of her career. If you want a good laugh read what the "guru" himself Andrew Beyer had to say B4 and after the BCC in his Washington Post columns.

  • she is a poly horse...its a reason she didnt run at church hill when they had her there..

  • ericcontroversy,

It is better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

  • lol

  • The state of Ca outlawed dirt tracks so no Santa Anita will not be returning to dirt until Ca repeals the law. It appears the PETA folks think dirt tracks are inhumane, and there is some merit to that claim if the tracks are not deep and well maintained. The NYT even suggested that Santa Anita be perminately awarded the BC, due to the safe and fair for all (euros) nature of the track.

  • PETA thinks horseracing is inhumane. I'm tired of hearing about them.just like the whole horse slaughter thig they are getting on my nerves

  • The NY boys would be happy to consider Zen for HOY if she'd only interrupted her training for the Classic to run in a prestigous Big Apple race like the Beldame, which Music Note, a filly Zen's toyed with twice, won at 1/5 And the second place finisherr? the great Unbridled Belle, a 17 hand girl just like Zen? Could Zen have beat her? We'll never know, will we NY boys because Zen stayed home to run a final quarter in46 to blow by a tired old boy like gio Ponti with her ears pricked.

  • there is sense in america after all

  • I believe Zenyatta deserves Horse of the Year for this. Its a bit cowardly that RA's owner didnt enter her in the race. But I believe that if we really want to know who "the best is there should be a match race for them. But, in my personal opinion, Zenyatta deserves this because she has a perfect record where as RA does not. And if you believe RA deserves it, I would love to hear your reasoning. I think we can all agree on one thing, however, that both fillies are pectacle to behold.

  • RA owner didnt wanna race her on poly track! this is america we race on dirt! RA beat the boys 3times zen beat them once on polytrack...

  • Well there's my point. They didn't let her, but can you tell me why? Was it because she did poorly on poly, or was it because it hindered her, not enough to interfere with her performance, but just enough to not want her on it?

I know this was only one victory, but I am certain that if she were challenged again by male competitors, she would still win.

  • Horse of the YEAR. Rachel is perfect in 2009. Rachel raced more months than zenyatta's half year. Someone on another post asked a great question. If Cigar (who hated Turf) ran this year would you knock him for not coming to a FAKE track for the Breeder's Cup. Think Not.

  • Forgive me if I am wrong, but I do thank you for responding. You have your own opinions and I have mine, but you are entitled to your opinions, I am not here to deter you from your beliefs, I only wanted to state my own opinion.

However, Rachel Alexandra does NOT have a perfect record. She came in place in two races, and sixth in another, which ruins her record in my eyes.

And I held not animosity in regards to them not letting RA running on poly, just voicing my opinion.

  • hi everyone

please, tell me who is better horse between ?

Zarkava,Zenyatta,Rache Alexandra and Sea the Stars ?

    Thks

    +++

  • zenyatta by about a length over sea the stars

  • Zenyatta would have eaten Sea The Stars for lunch, Rachel wouldn't even be a snack.

  • I am a less than casual race fan; but this was amazing. By far the greatest race i have ever seen. Makes me want to think of taking more of an intrest in the sport. I would not have even checked the race out if it wasnt for Jim Rome. Thanks Vansmack. I cant get enough of watching this race. the announcer said it best....This-is-un-be-lieve-able

  • Zenyatta was impressive...........although, "Sea the stars" still would have taken that field apart, big shame he wasn't there.
