  • Their's a guy on utube that thinks just like Buzz (NO JOKE), username: (exposingthecults) his current channel. To hear his views about women, type: (Mrpleasantpreacher-sexist) in the search bar, it will be under (pokerslut530). I PROMISE YOU, YOU WILL LAFF YOUR ASS OFF XD, ENJOY.

  • Love this show.....The Jeffersons are a Classic

  • excuse me. isn't that Charlene from Claudine with Diane Carrol and James Earl Jones? remember she was the daughter that got pregnant at the end.

  • When the show first started George constantly referred to Tom as a honky. After a few seasons Sherman Hemsley asked the writers to stop having George call him that, as he felt that the characters were friends and he felt George would not use a racist term on a friend. When the writers refused to stop Hemsley simply mumbled the the word every time he said it, forcing re-shoots. Eventually the writers stopped using the word.

  • Sherman Hemsley is actually only 11 years older then Mike Evans. Hemsley is also 21 years younger then Isabel Sanford making her old enough to be BOTH their mother's! LOL!!

  • Isabel Sanford did not want to do a spin-off. She told producers that she was happy with her recurring role on _"All in the Family" (i971)_. When they told her that they were writing Louise Jefferson off of All in the Family, and moving the character to the Jeffersons with or without her, she decided to stay in the role.

  • "Look who she maries xD"

  • "Oh, and my friend is such a nice fellow too."

    LOL

  • Man, I was waiting for Florence to let that idiot have it. He had it coming.

  • GO FLORENCE!!!

  • HEY FLORENCES GUY IS'NT HE A NEWS CASTER ON CHANNEL 5 NEWS BACK IN THE DAY

  • @sierria64 He newscast til 1971-2004 his death. He earned himself a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. Of that era he was one of the first African Amercians to do so.

  • LarnConner, I wasn't exactly a "TV Zombie" but I went through 3 different periods:

    1. Nothing but TV - I was trying to learn what TV was all about

    2. On-and-off TV - Whether or not I watched TV depended on what was in the TV Guide

    3. No TV - This happened for 8 weeks at overnight camp, and when I went to far away places

Since "decent" programming exists, you might want to consider watching family-friendly TV only.

  • LarnConner, you stopped watching TV COMPLETELY? That's too extreme of a decision to make when there's BOTH good and bad programming.

  • @MsL0vie: You shouldn't allow somebody like Buzz to make you leave the Church. Going to Church is about Praising and worshiping God for His bountiful Blessings. If you attended a Church that had many people in it like Buzz, then there's nothing wrong with leaving that Church and finding one that focuses on Praising and serving God, not beating people over the head with the Bible.

  • Melodiusrose, you're absolutely right! I'm a Reform Jew, and I don't fit with Orthodox Jews, because I'm a fun-loving, silly person who hates excessive restrictions.

Thankfully, my Reform synagogue is family-friendly and loves to "play!"

  • Old George sure is a smart ass lol.

  • it would have been even better & more realistic if he had hit her. to show what a real phony he was.

  • MsL0vie, hitting is NOT phoniness - it's violence. Buzz was on the verge of getting violent over bridal nightgown.

  • ppl like buzz is the reason I walked out the church & ndever came back. & don't plan to.

  • MsL0vie, not ALL people are religious fanatics.

  • This woman is a saint. Look who she married! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!

  • that maid should marry that dude.

  • If only we had more people like Mr. Bentley in this world. It would be a much friendlier place.

  • I'm related to a bunch of bible thumpers who claim they follow the bible but many of them are liars and thieves. There's only a handful of good people in my family and those are the ones I talk to. I can't stand bible thumpers.

  • HawkfanMom1981, you could "kick out" your bad relatives and stick with the good ones.

  • Being a christian is about walking the walk not always talking the talk. U don't have flaunt verses of bible 2 get ur point across. God teaches us 2 be humble servants of his word. Aside from that the new maid Betty is the comic foil of the show by being super energetic about her job.

  • I glad Florence gave Buzz a piece of her mind. He tried 2 control Florence & use christianity 2 carry out his selfish deeds. Christianity is about loving god's people for who they are not forcing them to be something they not.

  • I loved how Florence told Buzz off:

"That's your problem, Buzz. You know all the words, you just don't know what they mean!"

  • Buzz looks like larry Mccormick who was an anchor on KTLA in Los Angeles

  • @garycalgary You're exactly right!

  • @garycalgary That's exactly who it is.

  • Hot Damn, and i didnt mean darn. lol. Florence i need a drik. Me too and make it a double. lmao. :)

  • For those who aren't sure that this is the late Larry McCormick, go to Wikipedia, his picture, along with his career is on it.

  • If someone called me a sinner in my house, I'd throw his ass out, Al Bundy style.

  • NinjaGhostScorpion, me, too!

  • lol that was fantastic

  • Buzz was especially disgusting when it came to opening presents:

    1. After getting their own Bible, he scolded Florence for correcting him in front of everyone over a mistake he made on a Bible verse.

    2. He rejected the Hindu needlepoint picture because it wasn't CHRISTIAN.

    3. He was on the verge of throwing a tantrum over a bridal nightgown.

I could only wonder if Florence kept her engagement gifts.

  • master? of the universe?

  • lester5192, master of his own religious-crazed universe.

  • @LisaK7100 i thought he met he-man.

  • lOVED THIS SHOW!!

  • It's a lotta people like good old BUZZ, I use to work with one.

  • 82CARVER, you must have been frustrated!

  • hahahaha

    good episode

    thanks 4 uploading!!!!!!!

  • Used to watch this years ago however i hate this representative of being a christian, hey no!! and if Beauty was not important, God would've made everything ugly. As rightly said he knows the word but not what it means!! apart from that the jeffersons are hilarious

  • he was a chump

  • and you know buzz probably only does it missionary

  • Yes, exactly - and I think he does it with his clothes on!

  • 0:50 lol

  • put the dam thing back in the box we know you meant darn stupid man!

  • PUT THE DAMN THING BACK IN THE BOX! lol

  • "Yes siree Mr Jefferson."

  • Buzz is a fake!!! There are lots of fakes out there. You can usually tell because they go OVERBOARD!!!

  • @TLGD2008 I'm sure that he would've turned into Ike Turner after she married him.

  • @shydmples I don't doubt there's some verse that would have allowed him to beat his wife

  • Maybe, but I thought everyone deserved respect.

  • He was already Ike Turner!

  • @TLGD2008 so true! they cover their lack of true believing by over quoting the Bible. so true!

  • i bet if buzz was n a strip joint, he would b totally different.

  • He'd throw screaming tantrums!

  • Who is the actor BUZZ???

  • The late actor Larry McCormick.

  • @LisaK7100 I thought that was Larry, but people are saying it was not Larry, but some man named Clifton Powell. I think it was Larry too.

  • wishpackers, no, Larry McCormick only played Buzz Thatcher.

  • LOVE IT. Thank you soo much for sharing :)

  • I love how George gives Florence a hug after she tells Buzz off! It shows how much he really does care about her despite their differences!

  • Put the damn thing back in the box!!!! Laughing my ass off!!! And I don't mean DARN!!!

  • @1prettysoul I don't think so. I will be calling my partner of 10 years. thank you very much. He can perform the Heimlich on me. lol I have no need for religion.

  • she just pushed George back in the chair. lolol

  • Buzz is a faggot. When he told Florence to put away the Lingerie that was the giveaway. Like most of these bible thumpers, he's a closeted faggot hiding behind the bible and religion to cover his tracks. Great episode in so far as it was more than 20 years ahead of its time exposing fundamentalist hypocrites for what they are.

  • @DerKosmonaut1972 exactly. he's a freak behind closed doors.

  • A religious fanatical freak.

  • Buzz wanted a strict, Christian life, but he spent too much time in church and not enough time around "normal" human beings!

  • I miss those good shows.

  • George / Sherman has flawless delivery.

  • "Chump!"

  • "Yes siree Mr Jefferson!"

  • i loved this episode hot damn & i didnt mean darn lol

  • That clown, Buzz is a prime example of self-righteous, church-going stuck-up SOB's. Law can't save nobody. Where's the fruit?

  • @Cjs33139

I respect you being an Atheist, but why spend so much time and energy ranting about what you don't believe in. Moverover, Albert Enstein said that the root of ignorance is saying something is not true, but not challenging it's validity. It a scientific and sensible approach to discovering the truth about anything. People are afraid of what is possibly true and show it by anger and denial.

  • I love that scene where the maid rushes up to the sofa and grabs the discarded gift wrapping paper. haha. I had to rewind that a couple of times because the most unexpected moments or situations are the funniest in my opinion. :)

  • "This woman is a saint... look who she married!!" LOL!! Love Florence!

  • Buzz needs to re-read his Bible, especially Proverbs 31:10-31.

He also needs to follow Paul's advice: "Men, love your wives, even as Christ loved His church."

  • Buzz is a smuck, no this no that. Being sexiest to women, What a jack ass. Also knocking religions such as Hinduism, if the smuck was a true believer in Catholic faith or Christianity he would know God gave us free will, he loves us that much.

  • @NerdForMIT People like Buzz ARE the reason I came to my wits and became an atheist. And I am glad I don't need a god to make me feel good about myself or feel fulfilled. Whether it be christians or muslims or jews, they ALL think they know the true way and that anyone else who doesn't believe should receive the death penalty (islam) or shunned (christians). Sick religions with their sick ignorant ways. Phooey to all of them. I never knew a religion that was harmless.

  • @cjs33139 But why leave it up to people like Buzz? :) As a Christian myself, one of the things I've said to many others is that the victory in Christ is yours, and it's never someone else's call on when you receive it.

  • @cjs33139 they are sick to you. just like Buzz you dont understand the words. Moreover if your going to judge then judge the people not their faith because just like Buzz they know of the scriptures but they are still trying to understand what they mean.

  • @cjs33139 ...l wonder if you'll say the same thing when you are in a crisis.

  • @marmackk Nope.

  • cjs33139, I have nothing against your decision to become an atheist, but I NEVER stopped practicing Reform Judaism because of Ultra-Orthodox fanatics. Some people simply have distorted views on how religion should be practiced, and Buzz Thatcher was a perfect example of that?

  • That Buzz guy pissed me off so much when he stated how a woman's place is in the home and all that 'don't correct me in front of other people' nonsense. - liked the jeffersons ep - would love to see more

  • People correct each other in front of each other all the time! Buzz was a mailman and they may not make enough money to support a family, and he didn't want Florence's help in saving money for a house. Marriage is a partnership, NOT a dictatorship!

  • what a buzz pig

  • I love Florence , she's hilarious.

  • He was going to be abusive.

  • I agree and hide behind the Word to justify it.

  • He was already abusive.

  • The other maid also played in "Claudine" and "That's my Momma". I wonder whatever happened to her acting career? BTW: That Buz is a tight butt idiot. I would of slapped him with the "Word". He was so ignorant in the knowledge and teaching of "Christ". He was a talking, but didn't really live the truth. Marriage is partnership two people work side by side. Agreeing on one accord. He was more of a control freak.Taking advantage of Florence vulnerability of her not finding a mate at her age.

  • It was only a matter of time before Florence got gangster on "Buzz". Yes sireee Mr Jefferson! I have seen that other maid on "Good Tiimes".

  • @1MrsHaughton876

Yes she was a gangster on Good Times

  • thanks for having these vids. i live in mexico and i miss the jeffersons. i used to watch them when i was little.

  • Buzz is a church fagg.

  • blackstarr4u, don't you mean church "fake"?

  • I agree, Norman Lear and his associates were liberals, because liberals were the ones most interested in writing sit-coms at that time. It was also a time when blacks still faced a lot of discrimination, so it was understandable that ppeople would write about that.

However, if you want to write your own sit-com explaining why you believe white business men should only hire whites, you're free to do so.

  • I don't find that to be true at all. George is ridiculed for his prejudice against his white neighbor just as Archie Bunker is ridiculed for his prejudices against blacks.

  • I love how Florence said, "that's your problem. You know all the words, but you don't know what they mean." That is true in all religion.

  • That's not quite true, you see when people get to a point like Buzz that to be a Christian, in this case, that you can do no wrong, can't handle a different viewpoint, can't understand that learning the Bible is a lifetime of study, or simply just agree to disagree, that is where you learn NOT to be like. I've discussed with people whose beliefs are different than mine, not to believe as they do, but to understand WHY they believe in what they believe. People like Buzz don't do that.

  • Great point, Tsuruta1

  • Thank you. :)

  • I agree. Buzz only watched Christian TV, Christian movies, listened to Christian music on the radio, and only accepted Christian gifts, and he didn't dance. Louise told George he wasn't "normal" and I agreed!

  • @LisaK7100 Well his main problem was that he has what I call a "Caiaphas spirit". He, like some others who happen to be on YT, think that learning God's Word is about triying to find others who "aren't doing their Christanity right", can't tell them anything. Just a "I'm right, you're wrong attitude, you ain't nothing but a backslider blah, blah, blah. There are a LOT of "Buzz Thatchers" unfortunately.

  • Tsuruta1, I agree with you 100%! Buzz tried to change Florence and make her over, and you can't do that . If Buzz was smart, he would have tried to find himself a FEMALE Bible-thumper!

  • @LisaK7100 That would be his only choice. :) But I for one, couldn't be around the both of them. I'd get a headache.

  • People like Buzz makes me sick they are the ones who mislead the word of the Lord.. tryna act perfect while they aren't..

  • beleive it or not, there's guy's like him in every religion.

i see alot of them in islam

  • evanescfan, absolutely! Judaism has fanatics, too!

  • My point exactly, usually those like Buzz even forget words like salvation, compassion, repentance, forgiveness. Just a "you aren't doing your Christianity right" attitude.

  • im not christan but jewish people are the same way

  • stfu

  • doolisgreat, I'm Jewish myself, and you're referring to ORTHODOX Jews. They do everything by the book and don't consider other Jews Jewish because they don't do things their way. I practice Reform Judaism, the most lenient branch, and it frustrates me that so many religious people are so intolerant of how other people live their private lives.

  • What makes it so bad, is that there are people who are just like Buzz, some are right here on YouTube with their pages, and if you don't agree with their view on Scripture, your wrong. And if you do, they "like" you.

  • Tsuruta thanks for sending me this video. I haven't watched this in years. Yes Buzz does describe some of the Christians here (the so-called more "popular" ones! They are walking know-it-alls and you can't tell them NOTHING! It's sad.

They argue with atheists, argue with Christians - they are simply PATHETIC! In their arguing they have no true discernment and don't know when to let things go! I'm careful about who I befriend here.

I think they lost sight of why they are here!

  • Just give it time. A lot more people are now coming to their senses.

  • I don't understand BUZZ he seem like he don't want to see florence in sexy ligerie... he probably wants her to wear a bag

  • Probably red flannel long johns with the trap door bottom, or feet pajamas maybe? :)

  • yeah damn

  • A bag? Maybe so, but Buzz just wanted Florence to "cover herself up".

  • i know he did not call himself a master. he is really annoying

  • Didn't that guy know that Jesus' first miracle was turning water into wine?

  • The screenwriting had a liberal slant. It made anyone (whether Jewish or Christian) who turns to the Scriptures for the answers look like a hypocrite and sexually repressed. The reality, is: anyone who is religious and spiritual would not be "hung up" about such a negligee that his WIFE would be wearing on their wedding night. That's silly!

  • Many Fundamentalists believe that sex should only be used for procreation, and that it is a sin to enjoy sex.

  • I believe Buzz is that way.

  • Buzz clearly didn't know it was a bridal nightgown, and I believe he considered nudity sinful, too!

  • ndgermanrussian, you're right. Anyone who's about to throw a fit over a bridal nightgown is really stupid! That's how brides dress on the honeymoon! When you're in the privacy of your bedroom, you're sharing yourself with the person you love. Unlike Buzz, I always believed marriage was mind, body, and spirit, NOT "covering up"!

  • Wow, I love that part 5:32 and 5:37 where Buzz says the engagement is off and Florence yells hot damn

  • do you have the episode of the father and son who are with the KKK?

  • That new maid is too funny! LMAO!

  • there something I understand

    in a comedy show

    NO ONE GETS MARRIED

  • This Christian guy is annoying and a complete hypocrite.

  • In addition, he misquote the meaning of the verse. Not a true christian.

  • Buzz might have been a devoted christian, but he lack Godly wisdom.

  • One of the best sitcoms of all time. Love it, love it, love it !!!

  • she just dont know the man she was about to marry was telling the truth, that picture he had a problem with didnt want to hang up was a picture of the white jesus. if u paid attention she showed not much interest in god but claimed to be holy, she wasnt virtuous, he knew wat the words meant it was she that didnt, she didnt even seem that interested in God to be holy like she claimed, last time i check God is holy and rightous.

  • thesassiest, White Jesus? That was a Hindu picture! Even though Florence was not a religious fanatic, she did go to church and had a better understanding of God's words.

  • gosh this one bad love love it

  • Too Bad they don't make sitcoms like that anymore... Good Memories!!

  • One of my favorite shows growing up. Great cast, great writing, great memories!

  • LOL well im not a exert of the holy bible but if i get teh idea right the bible isnt a life leader (its a book to help u conect to the god and still hold ur lust for joy of life and love for god for he will forgive you anything no matter what if u really bring in love to the world not make the holy bible from its initual(love book of life) turn it to some (rules of life) thing thats crazy XD

  • I'm a conservative baptist African-American man and I was saddened to hear the way Buzz was using the bible. I don't think any of the script writers knew what the bible said. It just seemed like they were picking on conservative Christians to me. Don't get me wrong, I loved watching the Jeffersons as a kid. But this scene was over the top.

  • I used to watch this show religiously (no pun intended) as a child and happened to run across this episode just now. Loved it! But I disagree that they were picking on conservative Christians. They were picking on FUNDAMENTALIST christians who misconstrue the bible and use it to push their agendas and keep women in the kitchen, etc. This episode ran in the 70s when women's lib, gay lib,etc was starting to happen, and christians were up in arms about the decline of "morals" in America.

  • good that did us didnt it? lol.

  • I've known so many people just like Buzz, who use their interpretation of the Bible to support the oppression of others.

  • We need to remember the words of Antonio from the Merchant of Venice: "Even the Devil can cite scripture for his purpose".

  • How true!

  • People like Buzz are the kind of people you can't be yourself around without them making numerous complaints! He also had a severe ego problem.

  • NancyHey, you must have been frustrated!

  • @LisaK7100 I was, but then I just learned to try to avoid that type of person.

  • Uh...is it really that serious?? This was exxagerated obviously and made a joke of. Can't we just take it as that instead of trying to go so deep??

  • bigoted views? I was raised a Christan sir/madame, and am good friends with a Muslim family. I know religious extremism when I see it. There isn't one shread of bigotry in me. If there was, would I be watching a show like "The Jeffersons"? Why do I have a feeling that you condone Christian extremism? By the way, as I white guy, I will say that white bigotry has every right to be bashed. Jim Crow applied to blacks, not whites.

  • RIP Paul Benedict. Actor who played Mr.Bentley.

The show wouldn't of been the same without him.

  • He was gone from the show from 1981-1983 and then returned for the last two seasons.

  • Great episode! Proof that Christian extremism is similar to Muslim extremism. The only difference is he didn't strap bombs on his body and blow everyone else up. What Florence said about "knowing all the words, but not living them" is 100% true. Amen.

  • this woman is a saint look at who she married"

i love that line is funny

  • I really love Mr. Bentley...he is so clueless

  • That wouldve been a marriage made in hell.

    Is the new maid, Tamu?

  • It was already a relationship made in hell - Buzz was downright cruel!

  • Betty the new maid and Buzz should have gotten together at the end - they'd be perfect for each other!

  • Yuck!

  • Yeah, Mr.Bentley - *sure* you bought it for a lady friend, lmao!

  • Don't remember this episode.

  • Ugh! he was such a jackass.

  • 1)Perfume would be a nice wedding gift. Perhaps some Channel No. 5...

2)Looks like the stamp of approval was cancelled.

3)'Back in the box! Back in the box!' Buzz turned into Senor Wences.

  • Buzz didn't like jewelry because he thought the body was a temple, and the Bible was the only gift he accepted.

  • This is an old classic. I love it.

  • I love it when she says, "hot damn!"

  • do anyone have wen Lousie was been attack by Lou Gossette Jr?

  • That's one of my favorite episodes

  • forget that..it is my favorite one! I been looking for this for a long time! Thanks!
