Cause Dodoria was stronger or equal to Bardock. Meaning Bardock is weaker then Namek Vegeta who didn't go SSJ. But the movies never mix well with the show.

And , Vegeta secretly loathed Frieza LONG before he found out about Frieza`s betrayal though this was in part due to Vegeta`s own ego . And as I said , Bardock didn`t hate baby Kakarot . He was confused , tormented by the visions from the vengeful Kanassan commander and in a hurry to save his people from Frieza . That he stopped to see the kid at all shows more caring than most Saiyan fathers .
