  • katina is such a spam fest. I'm capable of shooting faster that you, though i only get 216 :/

  • haha i remember bill i used to always try to kill him

  • i think he use a keyboard...

  • Have you considered putting up a better-quality run of this level (also, was this normal? it looked like you got run into once without losing your wing)? Also, I notice that you're quite free with your bombs here - what would be your ideal usage of bombs in an overall high score run? Just the number of bombs per level. I noticed you said earlier that you prefer the expert route - what score difference do you find between the two?

  • anyone notice the striking resmblance this has to Independence Day? The enemy ships look the same and even the large flying saucer thing falls sideways onto the map just like in the movie

  • And if you run out of time, it fires a huge laser beam down onto the capital building and destroys it, just like in the movie!

  • @kurrizzle My friends and I used to call this level independence day basically xD. Its funny to see that pretty much no good helper ships were left in the ending of the video (as you fly away) xD

  • I've always noticed that if you kill all of the expendable good guys on this level, more bad guys chase you or just float about - meaning you can get a higher score.

    Silly that, really.

  • Bill: "Try shooting the bad guys, Fox."

Fox: "I did try... I just failed, that's all."

  • Peppy: "Enemy down. Wait, that was one of ours!"

I love your StarFox videos. I watch your playlist over and over. 5/5* on each video.

  • HAHAHA!!! Back when I played, I always had more fun trying to avoid shooting friendlies, and the first thing I see is that bomb... I don't know, it just tickled me.

  • As for people having difficulty getting close to this score, (I may not be the best rescource) I have two tips. Both may work, but the first is much easier in my opinion.

1 - Tilt your Arwing to one side, and pull a nuke manuever. Just mash A. Use bombs when there are groups of enemies.

2 - Follow your allies and get combos when they call for help.

Also, always let the hatches stay unharmed for a while. They shoot out 8 enemies per hatch when they open. That means about 32 new fighters. Win.

  • I wonder how many controllers he's been through, mashin' that A button.

  • Hey, the same thing happened to me today. The Mother Ship kinda...crashed on the building.

Also, I'm not surprised you waited for the last second to kill the core. What with your button mashing skills, I'm not shocked it died that fast.

  • Pray that they stay open, really. Just try to shoot everything as fast as you can so the hatches will open frequently.

This is the reason why I hate scoring on this stage.

  • 0:10-0:14

Fox: Ok so shooting the good guys is bad *Nukes about 15 fighters at once*

    Bill: FOX!!!

    Fox: Heh, couldn't resist

  • Ever made a very high score without killing any of the good guys? Just curious...I'll never be as good as you at this of course (I've seen some of your other vids), but it would be awesome if you kicked serious ass without losing an ally.

  • I don't know about this one. It doesn't heavily remind me of Independence Day. "The hatches are open" is quite repetitive here.

  • Do you have the one with the train. I LOVED THAT ONE

  • That is my favorite mission, but dont ask me why xD

  • huh! same music as starfox assault for almost every planet!

  • i just feel bad for all the bulldog units you shot down :(

  • can i make a request? how about sector y or sector z? that would be cool.

  • This level was easy and hard at the same time it being hard because both the good and bad guys had Arwings.

  • The bad guys didn't have Arwings...

The Husky & Bulldog squadrons were lead by Bill(B).

They flew the Cornerian Fighters, similar looking to AirWings, but they were not the badguys.

  • Man I didn't realize how close command was to 64. All the locations and a lot of the music are nearly identical.

  • the hiest score i had was 1019

  • Congrats! You beat my best by 1. Keep goin'!

  • I did this a couple of days ago. I threw a bomb and killed like 25 enimies after the mothership summoned more enimies. god that gave me 175 points before the level ended. i had i think 150 hits at that time.

  • Yeah, this is pretty old. But I usually get around this score on high score runs (with anywhere from 1 to 3 bombs usually).

In this video, I used 9 bombs (8 at the start, one near the end).

  • I always try to use as many charged shots as possible, as many of the enemy ships fly in small groups of three or four. Although I never destroy the "mothership", i try to hit those hatches when they open the last time (shortly before the core appears), as they give you HIT +5 each.

My best score so far was 234 in Expert Mode. And I never survived this level with both wings :)

  • what is bill, theres fox mcloud obviously a fox falco falcon peppe is a hare slippy toad so what is bill... is that his species bill do they call him and his race the bills?

  • Hmmm, that means there is a race of Andrews and Leons afoot!

The reason his name is Bill is probably a nod to General William Grey of Independance Day. In this game, his full name is Bill Grey (according to the Strategy Guide).

Infact, theres several references in this level to Independance day. The sauser, the ships, and the bad ending of course. That was a cool movie. This is a cool level/game.

  • I think his last name is Grey, as in Greyhound.

  • bill is a dog

  • Bill is awesome.

  • Do you think it is a good idea to let the core time pass and only get +2 when you destroy the ship, or is it better to destroy it when you have +10?

  • I believe you could get WAY more hits if you let time pass, and kill all the ships that are flying around.

It doesn't take very long to make up for the lost kills when you wait it out, and kill everything in sight until the timer appears itself.

  • Do you remember the videos of that guy? The guy with the weird name? He destroyed, I think, all the ships in Katina, but he didn't destroy the mother ship even when there was nothing left to kill. Is there something I don't know?

  • Dimitrij Jarowoj, or Winfried Merdes? Both of them are pros at this game (I've watched a few videos of their scores). They're probably lookin for more free-floating enemies to kill (since there's usually some ships somewhere)

If you beat the core, you get like a HIT+1, and the level ends. It takes only a second or 2 to kill ships (or CUS 'em for extra points)

It's probably worth searching the level a bit longer (unless you're SURE that there's nothing left in the level)

  • but he can turn sharper

  • oh man, I found this to be one of the coolest levels ever.. I gotta dig out my damn game.. if i can find it ._.

  • lmao, "Fox thats one of ours" One time I tried not killing ANY teammates and counted 30 at the end or around there except bill. I repeated the level and at the end i counted only Bill and 2 others

  • Wow, now that what I call a show. And I thought I was the only person who is really good at this game.

  • I know it slows me down. I really don't need to go that fast in All Range mode levels, since i'd like to kill everyone that I see on the screen before moving on to another section of enemies.

There are a few times I unnecessarily barrel rolled, but I don't think it messed me up all that much. I think I could've gotten WAY more hits if I used my bombs better.

  • Man, I barrel Roll in all range mode too much that start to hold the R and Z Button through a whole level

  • Gee...I like to do that too in many of my games...

  • True. I Do that to but i do that too. My play Style is almost the same as his

  • There was this one video I saw on youtube of someone playing Starfox 64 on his PSP, and it REALLY sounds like he's jackin' it. ESPECIALLY since it's completely silent except him pressin buttons (emulator has no sound yet).

It was funny to me, and to everyone else who commented on it.

  • I wonder how that person managed to play it on his PSP

  • He played it on Daedalus R8, the latest N64 emulator for PSP. It's fairly slow and has no sound, but it has shown alot of graphical and speed improvements since it was started.

He prolly played it on a 1.5 firmware PSP.

  • oh.

  • crazy flying AND shooting!

  • Oh man! I replayed the level So close to getting another medal. T_T I need to find other ways to get to the level without wasting my bombs!

  • i love this game

  • *Try Shooting The bad guys fox* Hahaha. Then how come peppy shot one down

  • XD. Dude, that one just made me laugh!

  • Pfft stupid fighters..."Lets paint our ships the same as the enemies!"

  • I know.

You can lock on to one also

  • I wish Bill would die!

  • At the start, when i used a bomb on like, 20 dudes, he still says "Fox! that was one of ours!". Fox shoulda said "No, that was 12 of ours!"

  • hahahahaha. I killed bill once. But he still Talked!!!

  • Oh yeah! I tried this Level on Expert Mode at my Friends house. Man it's DAMN HARD!

  • oh HELL yeah! I was surprised as hell to find myself pulling it off!

  • I finally beat my score! I know. We're so cool! ^_^

  • you've done it again zallard1
