No, it's the Soundlab Mini Synth. It's much more "Musical" then the WSG. The WSGs are really just noise-making toys.....they make really cool noises, but are not musical at all.
I've built two WSGs and two soundlabs now, and am working on some keyboard controllers for the Soundlabs.
I think it is possible to use a WSG as a "Noise Source" for the soundlab.
In this video, I am basically demonstrating some of the sounds that the soundlab can make.
i am a total newbe to all this DIY magic, but i found the MFOS site has a section for dumbs as me... do you think that by reading some of the books they recomend you can start by building a WSG?¿ i dont have a clue of electronics, if i see a schematic i dont understand absolutely nothing... is it really possible for a dummy as me (in electronics...i dont even know how to solder) to start right away with some of those Forrest Mims books? thanks in advance!
@topekadiyver2 wow, i have been long time thinking about building a keyboard controller for CV... but my first doubt is where should i pick the keys from? what is your idea? the keyboard project MFOS provide is pretty cool
Was it very difficult to build? Cause i'm planning to build my own one but i've never done something like this, like building up circuits and stuff. In other words, how much difficult for a total newbie like me? ^^
Google serach: Music From Outer Space (Youtube strips out urls, so I cant post the exact link) Follow links to, or google "electro-music" forum. TONS of good info there. Its basicaly where I got and learned everything.
Yes, there is! And fine tuners as well. I am building a mod that will allow a 1v/oct keyboard or other controller. There are also midi controllers I could build for it.
Hmmmmm.....insteresting. A bit too messy for my taste. But if it is possible to somehow put a keyboard on it in order to play chromatic notes it could be usefull.
For now I'm just working on the 1v/oct controller. Check out music from outerspace (Google it if that link doesnt work) theres TONS of circuits, schematics, and a really good forum to help anyone build these things and other modulars. I can zone out and spend HOURS just tweweeeddleinging around with this thing with no keyboard! Im just kinda autistic like that.
I would so take that rig to the nearest mall or nearest busy side walk, plop down a blanket, put on some super thick bottle-bottom glasses (and possible pocket protector) and a "donations can" with a sign that says "need $ to get back to year 2017", all the while serenading them with my 2017 music.
Well done sir!

sounds amazing... are you using any other effects or is it just the mini synth? also, how much money/time have you spent on this? cheers

No effects, just the synth. I am guessing I have about $100 bucks wrapped up in this one.
topekadiyver2 3 years ago
that doesn't quite answer the 'time' question...
sounds wicked, btw.

Now that is the way to turn a synth girl on, nice Knobs boy.

Very nice!! Was it easy to find all the parts? Plus did you do your own printplate?
Hope you can post one now with a bit more of control from your side. It's been 4 months now. ;p
No serious; i'm curious what you can do with it now.
