  • @7863easytiger

    You're fuckin spot on!

  • c'mon the Modfather

  • WHY HAVE I NEVER HEARD THIS BEFORE?!

  • Such an archetypal set up: 2 guitars, drums. Minds one of two basic sources of musical awareness. And what a Jam they're in. :)

  • Fucking awesome!

  • Happy Birthday Paul Weller.

So many happy memories over the years.

  • GOOD VIDEO

    TREMENDO TEMA LOCO!!

  • temazo.

  • Thumbs up if, when you heard The Who, The Jam and The Clash for the very first time you felt something right down yor spine. For me, listening for the first time was discovering a new dimension on rock, and discovering music once again.

  • @carmaj156 XD old rock is good i like in the city thumbs up guys

  • Tremenda Canción!

  • 24 dislikes ,how the fuck did you end up here?

    the jam no 1

  • @ferrers88 Too right fuck off.....We are the mods

  • Green Day were punk and in some way still are, with their social commentary and what not. However, other than the fact they were both trios and played punkyish music, they are not similar. Green Day are more influenced by Husker Du, The Ramones and The Replacements, whereas The Jam were Moddish Punks (sort of a cross between the Sex Pistols and Small Faces). I'm a fan of both bands though.

  • love guitar intro..fantastic song..fantastic band ;-)

  • yeah but now we have weller as a solo (or had) artist and the other two formed from the jam and there still touring and they play at the scooter rallies

  • The Jam will never reform, Paul Weller said it himself

  • FAN BLOODY TASTIC

  • Great music came out of grim times (late 70s - early 80s) but where the heck is it now?!

  • just fantastic!!!! also you might want to check out the FABULOUS BORDELLOS website they are so like the the jam style

  • I can tell that Rickenbacker could sell more of their products because of Mod Revival Era&Fashion and this band, but Mod is religious.

  • who is disliking this like seriously

  • 1:08

  • this ia a true classic!

  • 24 dislikes? Get out of MY CITY! Morons.

  • @zythum999

I'm not sure how ANYONE can dislike this song.

    It's absolutely amazing.

  • every item of clothing they wore, where i was from every lad went out and bought these lads was`nt just an awesome band but dressed cool as fuck.

    THE JAM FOREVER

  • Wicked song, gutted I never saw weller live - back in the day!

  • @basharee

whats the point in posting these? are you a robot? do you have any feelings or common sense whatsoever?

thanks for the first sentence though, really got me glued to your post.

  • this song just cant get any better..... kicked started my mod lifstle. ohhh and [LIVEFOREVER28] take it easy and chill people can pass comments on any song here,, not every 1 is gonna agree or like there comments, but thats what life is all about. i really hate that words[fucking jew cunts].. that was very mature of u. are u still stuck in the 80s with ur silly racists remarks. get a life and grow up man

  • Cash in boys while your still alive, come on

  • The bass reminds me of Sex Pistols - Holidays in the Sun

  • yeah i agree! click to tubifier [dot] com to download this song as an mp3!

  • We need a new mod/punk movement in the 2010s, we can only hope this Tory government fuck things up so we get great music with a bit of punk back, rather than the hippy-drippy indie shite we get now.

  • @ibazookajoe I think it's funny about Cameron that he went to Eton and yet he says he likes "Eton Rifles." That made me laugh a lot.

  • amaaaaazing.

this is true punk and great it is.

  • is that paul and ringo up there lol. they dont sound like the beatles pitty they have to look like them.

  • @Kalhari they look like mods

  • @Kalhari

    Are you a fucking retard?

  • Great song

  • Why do all pop-punk bands sound so fuckin' cute now like Blink 182? No balls.

  • @5jonesville Hey, don't be hatin' Blink 182. Lol jk jk jk This is the first time that I heard this band, and I'm a Clash fan and I love this!

  • @5jonesville thats what pop punk is punk with no balls. thats what new wave was too

  • @5jonesville Because they're all boybands, for the most part. That's all they've been ever since Blink.

  • One of the best fucking song ever!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's seems that most music is really lacking in intelligence (and irony) these days...

  • I hope that someday, The Jam reform and do a world tour; they left us too far before their time I think.

  • @grindingyourfaceoff

I hope so too, seen them in 79 got the sigs and love the music to this day

  • ROCK ON ROCK ON ROCK ON

  • arctic monkeys who?? fucking hell these kats even look like the monkeys before they did. great pub tune, pints of that irish stout all around...

  • かっこいいね(^^)

  • this is their best song imo, thanks to the uploader

  • punk!!!!

  • Ska was great but I find the Jam dull as fuck.

Compare The Specials, Beat, Madness, Selector to the dour, humourless Weller.

  • now this is what music is ment to be like, none of this modern pish thats made in a sound studio!!! long live the mod father!!!!

  • the bass and rythym

  • brilliant, real angry young men!

  • Oi!

  • OI!

  • люблю эту песню!

  • Paul Weller is god.

  • the birth of a legend.

  • すげぇなつかしいサイコーです

  • excellent, remember pogoing to this when it first came out, everrybody at the disco would be kicking punks

  • Crazy Song! My band has a song called 'in the city' too. That's how I found out about these guys, really good. Too bad they dont make em like this anymore

  • I dont know what you mean by "CRAZY" ! THE song reflects Life on the streets in 1977 as seen through eyes of the MODFATHER !.....

  • Then fook off and listen to heavy metal, because heavy metal is great music (sarcasm). The Jam are worth more than every metal band put together.

  • @LiveForever28

That's maybe a bit too exagerated I think. There are some fantastic Heavy Metal bands, but you just can't compare different styles. I'm a big heavy metal fan myself, but god I love The Jam. They're just mind blowing. Music can't get any better than this!

  • @machinemen165 But music can get a lot better than heavy metal, such AS stuff like The Jam. :)

  • @xreddragonx

haha indeed, The Jam were just fantastic, and well, Paul Weller still is.

  • @LiveForever28 Absolutely, LiveForever28.

  • @LiveForever28 I'm not one for insulting people over the internet, pathetic as it usually is, but in this case, it's not; you're a fucking 'tard. Heavy Metal is an excellent genre, what makes you think people can't kind bands like both The Jam and Metallica? Are you really so fucking stupid, is your mind really that one-dimensional that you think for something so open as music that people have to form allegiances? Just listen and appreciate - it's not hard. Not hard at all.

  • @Slawter187 If you like Heavy Metal so much, praise it some place where it's relevant. Of course it's possible for a person to like both The Jam and Metallica, but I'm guessing it's not the norm. And that most people who have come here to enjoy this Jam video are not interested in heavy metal praise, since The Jam doesn't come close to being heavy metal.

  • @xreddragonx what the fuck?????? I like metallica and I fuckin adore THE JAM. heavy metal is such a fuckin amazing genre

  • @scotchpfc Then I will say it again, take your long-hair and devil horns to somewhere more appropriate. This is a video for The Jam, a Mod/Punk/New Wave band. I already admitted it wasn't impossible for Jam fan to be a metal fan (if you could FUCKING read), but it doesn't matter-it's not the norm, this is not a metal video, and the guys in The Jam didn't care for metal (they had actual taste). So go praise it elsewhere.

  • @xreddragonx ahahahahaha at first, I will see and of course, I will comment in every fuckin single video I want, and the main reason is that the jam is my fuckin favourite band ever, even with my "long hair and my devil horns" LOL

but jesus, who the hell are you, speaking in the name of every jam fan?

steve marriott was a long haired mod, what´s the problem?

  • @LiveForever28 Metal is just as worthwhile as The Jam, I love the Jam, and I love metal.

  • @grindingyourfaceoff I wonder where you Jam loving metalheads are all coming from, considering how heavily common it is for your ilk to dismiss music like this as "New Wave sissy crap", or something similar. Is it any wonder most Jam fans here wouldn't expect to see metal fans showing up? Anyway, as long as you're on a Jam video, no metal music is not nearly as worthwhile as it. Get the hell over it already metal fans.

  • @xreddragonx ilk? Sorry, never ran into that...and naw, only "metalheads" I've run into who are like that are kids who listen to bands like TDWP; but me, I find all musical undertakings as just as worthwhile.

  • @LiveForever28 maybe different different genres can coexist? As long as music is made with passion and integrity, imo it's all good.

  • @LiveForever28 i disagree

  • @LiveForever28

I just feel sorry for you

  • @LiveForever28 fuck off mate if you cant appreciate good music and not thrash on others picks then youre a fucking jew cunt.... if you think all metal sucks then youre not listening to the right metal, a lot was inspired from this kind of music, along with religiouse views..... FUCK OFF

  • @LiveForever28 Let music be music...Everyone has their own opinions in the matter. I love the Jam and Death metal.

  • @Arashikato you are totally right i

  • @LiveForever28 heavy metal is c***

  • @SHStratovariusFTW

    How convenient.

Really, I don't care about this shit anymore. Just watch a great band.

  • one word Ginius!!!

  • One word: Grammer. Its Genious...

  • Comment removed

  • Lol live forever, nearly, but the full stop between ''grammer. Its genious'' means that it makes sense. Obviosly its 3 words, infact its 5, but his full stop makes it a one word sentence which is the effect he was looking for.

  • Comment removed

  • @hunterxxx11 how ironic. he spelled genius ginius! and you said one word:grammer it's genious! hahahahahhaha you fucking moron! you spell grammer grammar dummy! and genious is spelt genius! hahahah oh the fucking irony!!!

  • Simply AWSOME!!!!!!!!

  • superb song

    gives me chills

  • this song is the best one ive heard from the jam

  • agreed!

  • @stoptheclocks360 You obviously havent heard enough of their songs!

  • @stoptheclocks360

    agreed

  • TAKES ME BACK wow wernt we good

  • tears...eyes...nuff said!

  • Now this Is music ! Those were the days !

  • Now we all know what Band Green Day watched the most ^^...Weller Rocks

  • @MrMaryJaneBaby And failed to be nearly as good as. Anyway, it's common knowledge that Green Day were more into The Descendents and The Ramones. I can't see any possible Jam influence on their style, whatsoever.

  • @xreddragonx are you drunk bill joe says the jam we his biggest influence??????

  • @thetrinity7939 No I'm not drunk, jackass, I just wasn't aware of that information since I had no reason to suspect that a band like Green Day would take influence from a band that they sound NOTHING like.

  • ^Just to belatedly expand on my post above, I've done some research, and have found NO proof supporting Billy Joe from Green Day claiming the Jam as his "biggest influence". GD's Wiki mentions them, but places most emphasis on his love of The Replacements and Husker Du, while also giving detail to the Ramones and The Who (both of whose influence is no secret). And I still have yet find a source where GD mentions The Jam.

  • So to sum up: confirmed sources for The Replacements and Husker Du as BJ/GD's biggest influence, NONE for the Jam. In other words, "thetrinity7939" you're a lying stinking twit who's just probably trying to make Green Day look more respectable to Jam fans.

  • this rocks! awesome riffs.

  • They look like a much angrier version of the mid 60's The Who.

  • The riff @ 1:05-1:12 reminds me of the Sex Pistols 'Holiday in the Sun' but both albums came out pretty much the same year. Sounds like Sid Vicious stole the riff hahaha

  • haha yes maybe it's a rip off

  • pointy white spats and black suits with skinny ties. fucking rule!

  • The Jam wouldn't sell out thats why they were banned in the U.S. Later they just evolved instead of becoming stagnent so they would not be seen as sell outs. Either way they KICKED ASS! live and i was lucky enough to see them twice! FUCK YEAH!!!!

  • modtastic !!!

  • In the fucking city baby!!!!

  • de puta madre...se sale

  • i love it by the who...thats where parts of the lyrics for this song have came from..

  • The Jams criticisms of their generation are similar to the criticisms of Green Day nowadays, The Jam were a style of punk and Green Day used to be punk now they just sold out

  • Interestingly The Jam sold out Punk as well....

  • man the jam sold out? the split up at their best fuckin moment when they could rule the world, not like green day, don´t compare green day with the jam please

  • Yeah well I wish they'd do something about it.

  • f'in brilliant!

  • In The City came out months before Holidays in the Sun (written after Matlock left the Pistols ), it was the other way round.

  • class

  • fuck grendae

  • ALL non-live music videos are lip synced dipshit.

  • i totally agree. sad thing is this band could REALLY play

  • Was this used as a theme tune for a TV show?

  • I think t may be used for a drama called looking after jojo but not sure

  • "In the City there`s a thousand men in uniform. And I heard they now have the right to kill a man" RIP Kevin Gately Blair Peach Harry Stanley Jean Charles de Menezes Ian Tomlinson....

  • Secret Affair pIay their onIy Iondon show, The Camden Centre, Kings X, May 30th

    see tickets.

  • Hey, don't diss us gypsies or we'll come round and nick yer car tyres ya big jooklo's cory.

  • thanks for your advice duke..however you should take a look at Oxford English Dictionary 2nd Edition 1989,"Gipsy, gypsy, n." Just sayin

  • gipsy << You'll never get far in life if you don't learn to spell. Just sayin'.

  • green gay shouldnt be mentioned here..comparing them with the jam is like comparing god with a gipsy

  • HAHAHAHA

  • i love both greenday and the jam but you most certainly cant compare em the jam is mod revival and green day is punkrock...

  • yeah but greenday are un original. atleast the jam has there own sound.

greenday are a bunch of whiny ass wannabes that made it on accident.

    jam for ever

  • they were still punk, they just brought back the style of mods

  • fab band

weller pulled the plug years to soon

    that was his biggest mistake

  • Awesome Video!!!!!

    The Jam Rocks!

  • You can't compare Green Day with The Jam. Both have their pros and cons, but both are different types of punk rock.

  • Green Day ? Please...this is 1977 dude, just 8 years earlier the music world was Califonia Dreaming....Weller drew from youngsters rage and angst against the the UK caste system..What the F did Billie draw (steal) from?..oh yeah, the 1977 Brit punk scene...and countless other melodies over the years....Weller, the real thing....Now run along....

  • How old is Weller here? 18? 19? It's amazing how he is still going strong 30+ yrs later while most of his contemporaries fell by the wayside.

  • wow amazing the jam rule

  • Well they say you never know what you've got till it's gone - how I miss those early Jam days. Still love their music. Thanks for sharing this.

  • 1:12

  • 1;12

  • I love this band. That siad, I'm new to them. Can anyone recommend a really god album or two by them please? Thks in advance! :)

  • All Mod Cons,by far is the best.

  • :) so many things, im such a fool

  • Timeless music.

  • Comparing Billie Joe to Paul Weller is like comparing soda water to champagne!! The Jam still rule...

  • Watch how paul and bruce both jump at the same time and after that move their heads at the same time. great song thanks for posting it.

    ;)

  • i saw from the jam last year i listened to a couple of songs and fucked off to the bar for the rest of the gig. without weller theres no jam simple as........

  • agree..no Weller...no Jam....totally...they are ridicolous....

  • Grew up with this. Still love it.

  • Listen to Sex Pistols-Holiday in the Sun.

The baseline in this song matches this song nicely. At the start. 0:06 - 0:016

  • now that you mention it, i get what you mean

fits in REALLY well with that song!

    both songs are brilliant.

  • The Jam once admitted that they partly stole of Holidays in the Sun. But. Everyone steals.

  • But in all rights they made it their own.

  • Yeah. That's what The Jam was good at. Copying several influences and really making an own sound unlike those influences. You can always tell when you hear a Jam song.
