@flippensweet48 Thanks. I'm getting tested in February. Maybe my teachers will move me away from the fan.. and my dad will stop yelling at me in the middle of walmart. And im sorry that you got stuck with such a bad case of it, maybe in a few years the doctors or something will come up with some kind of treatment.. Idk.. good luck though, and thank you for responding. :)
I dislike this disorder sooo much. I was diagnosed when I was around 6 (first grade). I'm 16 and still get poor grades in school. :/ It's really difficult concentrating in school and since teacher's don't really understand this disorder, they can't help much. I've learned how to learn, but that doesn't make it any easier for me.. I just get to tired when trying to follow along.
@flippensweet48 I'm 15. I've never been diagnosed with this, but my mom thinks that there is a chance that I may have it, or a very mild case. I just wanted the opinion of someone who has been diagnosed, and I saw your comment. I can hear the sounds that people say perfectly, but if there is ANY background noise whatsoever. Everything that is said just sounds like gibberish. I always pass my hearing test at the dr's office though. Is this APD? Thank you so much.
@RenaeLottie Yeah, it's defintiely possible you have it. For me, it's like I hear what people are saying, but its not fully going to my brain. I don't understand what people are saying even though I can hear them. And background noise multiplys that by confusion by 10 and get super frustrated. I just want to hit something, sometimes I do. Hearing someone and misinterpreting what they said is the worse and also wicked embarrassing. .....
I think i got this in a mild form. But this vid is kind of a test apparently. The sound is so bad that I didn't understand much of what was said. Anyway.... luckily there is written information.
I'm glad I wasn't born in a time when people still didn't write :p
I thought I had mild ADHD for a long time.. I just now heard of this today, and I think have this. My teachers at one point told my parents to get my hearing tested and after I tested normal they assumed I must be ADHD. It is really hard for me to focus on what people are saying. especially when there's a large group. I also can't remember words very well, which makes it difficult for me to communicate thoughts especially in tests at school
@ljp7c4 WOW, i think u just said the same thing about me, it is especcially for me about this: "It is really hard for me to focus on what people are saying. especially when there's a large group. I also can't remember words very well, which makes it difficult for me to communicate thoughts especially in tests at school."
My question is what have you done or going to do to treat this? Did you do this "interactive metronome"?
you guys really cant talk because i was diagnosed with APD when i was 2 years old and went through 7 years of speech therapy i am now 16 and still struggling with some things but would love to talk to someone with the same problems.
I was diagnosed in 5th grade, school screws me over. And you know whats ironic? I'm an aspiring sound technician and am currently the head sound technician at my school.
Diagnosed at 13. Come on! he hasnt suffered his whole life like i have. Im almost 16 and got diagnosed when i was 6 years old. there is no cure for Central auditory processing disorder. If it did however, I would have been cured ages ago. You only get worse as you age. Parents need to understand that you cant yell at us when getting frustrated because we need to remember what was told to do because it only makes it worse. thats a fact. it sounds like im havin a fit but it another part of CAPD.
@3pinkfreak3 Hey, also have CAPD. Would be cool to talk to someone else who has it. I'm 16 so yeah I know what it's like. Damn parents, damn teachers, damn people in general, you know...But yeah if you want you can add me on msn: mike_simpson_@hotmail.com
or just message me back it doesn't matter. And yeaha, I know you like wrote that comment 5 months back and probably forgot you ever did it, but w/e I was just reading up comments to see if anyone else commenting had it too. :P
For those of you that need help but can't afford this or don't know where it is, I can help you because I was diagnosed with this as well. What my Thearapist told me to do and this really helped was to either read a book outloud to yourself every day but even more importantly, create a list of numbers 5, 6 and 7 digits long. Then have someone say them to you and ask you to say them forward all the way through then backwards all the way though. 7 digits forward, 7 digits backwards.
do the people talking on this video sound a lot like they're murmuring to anyone else? the sound quality is obv. not great but it's really frustrating, especially with the background music going.

Usually conventional hearing tests don't register CAPD...They tested my hearing over and over and over when I was little...
