what happens with joe is he focuses on what's surprising him in a fight. sometimes he'll be really impressed with something as mundane as getting back to guard, and he'll end up talking about it like it's winning the fight. i dont think its a matter of him liking one fighter more than another.

Joe Rogan is one of the best sports commentators I have ever heard, he rolls with a lot of fighters on the the promotions and you would never know it to listen to his commentary, hes human perhaps sometimes a little bias might creep in but for the most part, he is nailed on and he is a MMA geek for want of a better word. Superb Commentator, knows his fighters, knows his MMA and hes entertaining as all fuckery .. on top of that he calls it as a fan a lot of the time aswell not as an employee

Of course it is. Joe has favourite fighters just like every fan does and he even trains or has trained with some of these guys in the past. How many of you could have been impartial commentating on Wanderlei/Bisping, for example. Also, if you go back and watch a fight on mute because people think the other guy won, you're probably changing your opinion because you're looking more at what he's doing and forgetting about the other guy.

I think that Goldie and Rogan are good commentators , i agree rogan is definetly biased in some fights, but for the most part hes probably the most knowledgeable commentator in all of MMA . The guy can call out a couple moves on the ground, or notice a fighters stance and tell the audience EXACTLY what that fighter is thinking or wanting to do and in alot of cases the fighter does exactly what he calls out .
Joe Rogan and Goldberg are the best commentars hands down. Goldie is the pro, and Rogan is the entertainment. You only really start to appreciate them when you hear crap like Murillo and Frank Shamrock on strikeforce.

joe rogans commentary can rarely be biased, i rewatched the machida shogun fight and thought it was pretty close but machida did actually cause some offence back. Machida threw a couple of hard knees and some good punches. It was very close but machida did actually win.
Same thing on the Fedor Vs Rogers fight i watched that fight and thought Fedor was in trouble alot of the time in that fight but when i watched it back and didnt pay attention to the commentary i realised that feder actually owned rogers for 90% of that fight (apart from bretts 5seconds of g&p)
Lol first and foremost, I thought Machida won that fight, strategically leg kicks are nice, damaging...not so much. But Rogan does make a lot of people think the way he does because pretty much MMA uneducated people don't really know what they're talking about and they just go with what they hear. In my opinion, Junior dos Santos is not nearrrrllllyyy as good as people put him out to be. Mike Goldberg is just funny. Anyhow, nice show guys. Really nice convo. Everyone's a little bit biased, but the fact is that Rogan really throws some valuable and entertaining insights that make the fights that much more detailed to people like us that are only still learning more and more about MMA.
I think a better question would be is his commentary supposed 2 be unbiased? What kind of card do you think Dana White will put together to match 3 title fights featuring Jake Shields vs. Dan Henderson for the companys middleweight title, Gegard Mousasi vs. King Mo for the light heavyweight title and Gilbert Melendez vs. Shinya Aoki for the lightweight title?
That's a great card the only problem is that they only put together like 3-4 cards a year . I only wished they put on more but, I really hate the commentators for StrikeForce though. Other than that I'm not biased towards any organization just great MMA fights. I just hope that the wrestlers go back to their roots a bit more and not try to stand when they aren't stand up fighters. I think the fans are impacting some fighters sometimes. If people don't like it I say go watch boxing or kickboxing

I remember watching a UFC at a bar with the audio off because fucking footbal was on. It sucks not having his energy and knowledge that has taught me alot more about MMA. I don't find him biased and though he ends up having to correct Mike, alot, he's justified and respectful about it. I have to agree with everything you guys said in this video. YES, he is biased but he's fun to listen to, he does a great job. The only other awesome MMA commentator I can think of is Bas Rutten. Especially when he comments his own fights, it's hilarious.

Personally I enjoy Mauro Ranallo's commentary. He was Prides play by play commentator and watching Strikeforce while listening to him, brings back some nostalgia for me.
Goldberg and Rogan are good too, but for me personally I like Mauro's commentary better.
Mauro Ranallo is actually a good commentator, his style of commentating a fight is unique and funny to listen to, so yeah josh, that was a bit unfair! lol

That's really the only thing that gets to me about Joe Rogan. Every time someone even SCRATCHES their ankle Joe Rogan is calling out 'rubber guard'. Its annoying after a while.
What I find odd is that every once in awhile, a fighter will land a great kick or punch, and both commentators say nothing. On the flip side, a fighter swings wildly and clearly misses, and "theres a huge left hand which rocks"... Perhaps they need better technology to actually view the fight more clearly or perhaps sit somewhere a bit higher. Every once in awhile they're way off, its like "what fight are they watching?"
I think Joe and Mike are waaaayyyyy better than any other commentators in any other organization. Joe says some funny things like when that bag of ice spilled on Ronys Torres, and he said "he looks like Marcus Aurelio and Gleison Tibau had a kid" lol

that's just what rogan saw. He criticized shogun before against griffin and coleman because he didn't perform well. He praised Lyoto because he put on a great performance throughout the career. Rogan was siding with shogun against machida only because he felt shogun was winning it has nothing to do with bias. I've always liked you guys but, you almost proved that your UFC fanboys but, whatever I will agree Strikeforce's commentating is horrible and I don't mind Rogan or Goldberg I like them both but, there not that great either and Rogan is extremely BIAS. The best commentating team in MMA is Michael Schiavello, Jason "Mayhem" Miller, and Guy Mezger.
@MMAInsight I wouldn't say that they're UFC fanboys, but they're pretty close. It's always good to hear these guys opinions and when I first started watching MMA predictions on YouTube, it was these videos from osbornemccarty. But yeah, Joe Rogan is very biased sometimes. Give you the perfect example, Kimbo Slice vs. Houston Alexander, you said it in your review, it was probably the most biased fight I've ever heard, but they are pretty good at what they do, and they're very exciting.

When the fight goes to the ground, not even Frank Shamrock explains what's happening well. And Mauro Renallo and Gus Johnson (the two main commentators) have absolutely no clue what they're talking about. Same thing on the Fedor Vs Rogers fight i watched that fight and thought Fedor was in trouble alot of the time in that fight but when i watched it back and didnt pay attention to the commentary i realised that feder actually owned rogers for 90% of that fight (apart from bretts 5seconds of g&p)

Lol first and foremost, I thought Machida won that fight, strategically leg kicks are nice, damaging...not so much. But Rogan does make a lot of people think the way he does because pretty much MMA uneducated people don't really know what they're talking about and they just go with what they hear. In my opinion, Junior dos Santos is not nearrrrllllyyy as good as people put him out to be. Mike Goldberg is just funny. Anyhow, nice show guys. PS: count how many takedown defenses and knees by lyoto.

Really nice convo. Everyone's a little bit biased, but the fact is that Rogan really throws some valuable and entertaining insights that make the fights that much more detailed to people like us that are only still learning more and more about MMA.

I think a better question would be is his commentary supposed 2 be unbiased? Rogan is clearly a fan and he has fighters he likes I remember the Akiyama belcher fight i thought Akiyama clearly won but at the beginning Rogan was talking about belchers Johnny cash tatoo and his walkout music when the fight ended rogan said "i think belcher got robbed!" but its cool it was a close fight and rogan is a belcher fan

About Shogun v Machida: Machida landed 42 strikes, shogun landed 82. People say the fight was super close even though it wasn't.

That's a great card the only problem is that they only put together like 3-4 cards a year . I only wished they put on more but, I really hate the commentators for StrikeForce though. Other than that I'm not biased towards any organization just great MMA fights. I just hope that the wrestlers go back to their roots a bit more and not try to stand when they aren't stand up fighters. I think the fans are impacting some fighters sometimes. If people don't like it I say go watch boxing or kickboxing

plain and simple... yeah it is, but you can't blame the guy. i think he does an awesome job and obviously knows his shit, it's not his fault if he likes one fighter more than the other one and it shows from time to time. example a: diaz vs maynard, example b: shogun vs machida IMO were biased calls by joe. either way, it's not a huge fuckin deal is it lol? its not like he's deciding the end of the fight.

Rogan and Goldie are OK. Yeah, they're biased...but you have to expect that I think. They have to hype fights and in the end some of their own opinion or bias is bound to come through. Come on, have you ever listened to the same bit of news on CNN or FOX News....talk about two polar opposites. If the news media can't be impartial, how am I supposed to hold Rogan & Goldie to a higher standard. Btw, my personal favourite is Bas...hands down....El Guapo for the win!!!

i agree with this dude mauro ranallo works for a sports channel up here in canada and his voice is fake. theres no way he actually talks like that it sounds forced to sound more like a 'professional announcer' and dude is right its like hes trying to be a 1950s or 60s radio announcer or some shit its pretty fuckin annoying but he seems like an alright dude but still he should just talk normal and not try to force it so much because it sounds ridiculous.

mauro knows hes stuff but couldnt carry the ufc like rogan. i also resently watched a re run of that fight not on mute but i was suprised how much more even it was than when it was live.
rogan is not just biased about fighters but also where the fight takes place, i thought he was wanking over george sortaropalis' bjj on joe daddy lol

I remember watching a UFC at a bar with the audio off because fucking footbal was on. It sucks not having his energy and knowledge that has taught me alot more about MMA. I don't find him biased and though he ends up having to correct Mike, alot, he's justified and respectful about it. He's a fan commentator so he watches fights like a fan and not like a corny commentator that's paid for his voice. I love when Joe tells off stupid fans that boo out of ignorance though.

I have to agree with everything you guys said in this video. YES, he is biased but he's fun to listen to, he does a great job. The only other awesome MMA commentator I can think of is Bas Rutten. Especially when he comments his own fights, it's hilarious.

Personally I enjoy Mauro Ranallo's commentary. He was Prides play by play commentator and watching Strikeforce while listening to him, brings back some nostalgia for me.
Goldberg and Rogan are good too, but for me personally I like Mauro's commentary better.

What I find odd is that every once in awhile, a fighter will land a great kick or punch, and both commentators say nothing. On the flip side, a fighter swings wildly and clearly misses, and "theres a huge left hand which rocks"... Perhaps they need better technology to actually view the fight more clearly or perhaps sit somewhere a bit higher. Every once in awhile they're way off, its like "what fight are they watching?"

I think Joe and Mike are waaaayyyyy better than any other commentators in any other organization. Joe says some funny things like when that bag of ice spilled on Ronys Torres, and he said "he looks like Marcus Aurelio and Gleison Tibau had a kid" lol
Also when Gleison Tibau was fighting Josh Neer, Neer tried to do a kimura and Joe said "Josh is trying to do a kimura but its like trying to kimura a tree" lmao

that's just what rogan saw. He criticized shogun before against griffin and coleman because he didn't perform well. He praised Lyoto because he put on a great performance throughout the career. Rogan was siding with shogun against machida only because he felt shogun was winning it has nothing to do with bias. Enough of the mute crap, if you mute out the sound you can't hear the impact of shogun's strikes. Shogun should be the champion right now

I've always liked you guys but, you almost proved that your UFC fanboys but, whatever I will agree Strikeforce's commentating is horrible and I don't mind Rogan or Goldberg I like them both but, there not that great either and Rogan is extremely BIAS. The best commentating team in MMA is Michael Schiavello, Jason "Mayhem" Miller, and Guy Mezger.

@MMAInsight I wouldn't say that they're UFC fanboys, but they're pretty close. It's always good to hear these guys opinions and when I first started watching MMA predictions on YouTube, it was these videos from osbornemccarty. But yeah, Joe Rogan is very biased sometimes. Give you the perfect example, Kimbo Slice vs. Houston Alexander, you said it in your review, it was probably the most biased fight I've ever heard, but they are pretty good at what they do, and they're very exciting.

@FrankGarrett316 Yeah, and if you notice, the Strikeforce commentators have no clue what they're talking about. When the fight goes to the ground, not even Frank Shamrock explains what's happening well. And Mauro Renallo and Gus Johnson (the two main commentators) have absolutely no clue what they're talking about. At least with Goldberg and Rogan, they know what they're talking about and they're both very exciting.

I find joe is ok if knows both fighters, but if he doesn't know one fighter he really huggs the nuts of the one he knows. I would think he could take a little time to learn about some of the first timers. goldberge is just a fucking looser, fuck I find him to be so dumb.

Joe Rogan wasnt bias at all during the Shogun/Machida fight.. If you knew anything from before that fight, Rogan is such a huge machida nuthugger. He knew he was winning that fight.. Rogan also loves Alan Belcher and Couture.

Personally, i think Joe Rogan brings lots of "did you know" type of infos like you said. But for some reason, those two still bother me, especially Goldberg. He keeps saying the say stuff and does'nt really bring anything important besides screaming big words like it's all over or "wow" or "these two are really swinging for the fences" etc...
I tought you were a little harsh on strikeforce and their comments, i like the "show" atmosphere that they bring to the events.

I think both Joe and Mike are Bias, aswell as Dana White. They build up guys like Randy Couture like they are gods.Sure, Couture is a talented fighter, but he is the most overhyped fighter in not just the UFC but in MMA.
I like when Couture is losing, taking big shots and instead of the announcers congratulating the other guys power or technique they just say shit like "WOW, what a display of heart by the natural! Randy Couture! What a chin!"

Not only is he bias but he is very unprofessional. I like WEC Frank Mir and the other dude. Very knowledgeable and professional. Rogan talks about the stupidest things while the fight is going on. "Ohh this guy snow boards in Cali on the weekend"
