  • I want to be the female Marc Bolan!

  • I don't see what's about this Not the vocals anyway. Or maybe Marc had a unique closed mouth singing technique? 0:17

  • THIS is rock 'n' roll! Why can't we have people in music like him any more?Love you Marc and T-Rex......x

  • Velvet Goldmine is a movie that showcases Marc Bolan

  • Adam Lambert is the only singer with enough glam to cover this song. See his Glam Nation Tour, the encore song.

  • Thats why my daughter will liten to this and david b owie before todays so called artists

  • I think I've seen several vids now of "live" performances by T Rex on television shows where the track is actually being played behind them and the band is clearly bored out of their heads because they're not actually playing live - I think it was typical at the time. BUT Marc sings over the top of it anyway so you get a mixture of both live and recorded vocals. I don't mind. :) But this one looks like the instruments are actually being played live maybe w a track too. Love the percussion guy.

  • @halag Just to let you know - this is actually 2 live performances edited together. Almost all of Bolans performances for this show - Musicladen which used to be called Beat Club - were double tracked as it were, but each one being live. If you check out Buick Mackane which was filmed on the same day (19th Feb 1973) they only filmed one take, so that is the complete live experience without the overdub.

  • @agentwilde wow! That's unusual but probably makes sense of what I'm seeing. Thanks for the info. I'll look up the Mackane thing. Need to watch this again now LOL

  • great music

  • Marc Bolan is about as straight as a broken arrow

  • @FollowersofDamu He thinks about more women than you'll ever know.

  • @77Sinner I'm sure he loves his mother and sister very much

  • @FollowersofDamu ...and he still has you beat.

  • Ahhhhh, the man who put the fun back into rock music, gotta love Marc Bolan!!!! There will never be another like him!

  • Jurassic Rock... so glam !

  • This is hot! One of the great rock and rollers of all time! Showing you how its done! Glammed out too!

  • this man is a legend

  • This is a better version than what was put to vinyl. He didn't need that stupid backing chorus on the recorded version.

  • FYI for the main riff just play an e chord then throw in some bends on the top (fattest string) 3rd fret, youll pick it up easy as

  • I gota say, i never really took much notice of Trex . Then i got this riff in stuck in my head, so i learnt this song on Friday night, it sounded so mean i dropped a pill and cranked the amp up. This IS the filthiest dirtiest Riff... say no more. ... especially when blasted at a window vibrating volume lol

  • My mother and older sister used to fancy Marc Bolan, i grew up listening to T-Rex, now that i can watch all there stuff on you tube i have to say what a really good looking guy, those eyes, the hair the way he feels the rythym...oooof

  • Marc u're a GOD of glam rock

  • The King of the Mods ....The Bopping Elf.....God of Glam ....

  • The GlamRock Master Rocks

  • This video is odd cause it sounds like he is singing (doesn't sound the same as the studio version), bu ton the same hand you still hear him fine even though he is away from the mic. Either way this is still a KILLER track by a guy that is still missed.

  • @TNO73 I'm only guessing, but it seems like he's using a [nowadays] common "trick" of doubling his vocals to add more depth. So I think he's singing live while having a backing vocal track running, too. The howl/scream towards the end is him getting into so into it, that he goes quite a bit early vs the backing track. No shame, as he's not lip syncing or doing a Madonna thing. He's really rocking it.

  • @TNO73 I noticed the same thing, not to mention his lips aren't in sync with the vocals in a few places. And you'll notice around 2:30 he points at the audience but you still here the guitar being strummed. Most likely the background track was recorded "live in some other studio" or a rehearsal tape. It wasn't that uncommon. I've watched various Musikladen videos and noticed a wide range of authenticity to the performances.

  • yes glam brillant !!!!!Bolan Marc!!!

  • omg my baby!!!!!!!!

  • Bolan ... my main main brilliant genious love it x

  • Damn that Les Paul sounds good!!!

  • true glam rocker

  • I wish I lived in this era. Too bad I was twenty years late!

  • T-Rex Forever!

  • LOVE YOU MARC!

  • What an era the 70s was to live through, last couple of decades so lame and unoriginal

  • @Urko2005 I so agree. But now Adam Lambert has arrived! Phenomenal singer! Incomparable! Fabulous, adorable, sexyyyyyyyyy, intelligent, mega-talented Adam!

  • Comment removed

  • @Paeonia13 The difference is he is a copy of past artists merged together, before Bolan and Trex there wasnt really anything similar.

  • @Urko2005 Adam is the copy of no one. I agree he has many past artists in him but he is amazingly talented and no one is similar to Adam. And by the way, I´m over 50... :-) I was a die hard Marc Bolan fan in the seventies.

  • @Paeonia13 YAY! Yep. Bringing real music back. Love Adam's version of this song and he is very clear about his influences - including Bowie, Iggy, T Rex, Queen etc - you can see all those influences in Adam plus his own very unique style. He is responsible for me checking out this T Rex stuff - so glad I did. Love it! I would have killed to have seen this guy in concert when he was around.

  • @halag Well - I did. I saw him on stage I mean... ;-) 1973 in Gothenburg.

  • @Paeonia13 you are lucky!

  • @Urko2005

    This is ROCK!!

  • @Urko2005 Last coupld of decades? 1999-2011 has sucked, but the 90's were one of the most important decades of music ever.

  • @PBANDSNOW did you spend most of your teens/20s in 90s if so , i can see why you have that view

  • @Urko2005 No, I just like Alternative. The 90's had bands that rivaled bands of the 60's and 70's.

  • @PBANDSNOW whatever a persons age is will decide wether they agree on that or not :)
