  • no i'd believe in marilyn monroe

  • Enthwistle's bass FTW

  • if drugs weren't against the law i would do them all, but unfortunately the are forbidden, what makes them a nogo!!!

  • when i first saw this movie i thought clapton was my uncle as they are both hippy smackheads with the same features

A sam utwór? Po prostu zajebisty. Te dźwięki gitary... od razu słychać, że to najlepszy biały bluesman. Kurwa, dobre, dobre.

  • GENIUS!! I remember seeing it in the theater and having my mind completely blown!

yes kiddies, there was a time when being an audacious visionary was acceptable -

glad I was there to experience it, because I'm definitely a better person for it!

  • @cripbabe111 Amen sister. This movie blew my 10 year old mind. :-)

  • Holy shit look at that fucking bass Entwistle is playing (there's a nice close-up of it at 1:23). Check it out, It's some kind of Gibson with a custom axe-shaped body --- the thing is fucking awesome.

  • Absolutely no way in hell that this scene could be filmed today.

  • @kerouac69 Oh, they would never get away with it these days. Because, you know, the First Amendment is void whenever a higher governmental power wants it to be.

  • wonder why would catholic Irish girl Baker be placed in the centre of Judaic David's star?..

  • some pretty ridiculous ball tripping being done right here

  • My mother hates this film, solely for this scene, I think. But Clapton, Entwistle, and Townshend in the same scene is fantastic.

  • OK, I love the movie Tommy and I love the Who, but this scene scarred me for life. e.oIII

  • Marilyn Monroe vai estrelar a campanha da Christian Dior. Aparecerá em anúncios da marca francesa ainda neste ano. O lançamento foi um sucesso!!

  • まさに神々の た・わ・む・れ

  • I don't what is going on here very well... But I do know Clapton is God.

  • Cleric Apton xD

  • Damn, I get drugged just by looking at this xD

  • I never cared for the movie Tommy, but now that I finally saw this scene with Eric Clapton as "The Preacher" I can say, I do like this part of the film. Are they wearing clothes with newspaper print on them? And check it out, they are giving pills and booze to the folks at a Marilyn Monroe communion. This is like a drug induced dream for sure.

  • That is the most I have ever seen Entwistle move, whilst carrying an axe shaped bass no less.

  • it has nothing to do with thE who WATCH THE FILM

  • I need to sit down and watch this, never know this existed. Clapton and the Who together??? I'm there!

  • Note: starting around 2:55, that's Arthur Brown (of "Fire!" fame) :-)

  • the guy is JESUS

  • 2:52 I know that that's impossible, but that guy is Liam Gallagher!!!!!

  • this movie still scares me especially the acid queen part

  • THIS SONG ROCKS! but who is the dude thats singing at 3:01?

  • @Apockiller arthur brown

  • @omgDeadbrad Thanks dude.

  • @Apockiller some friends tell me that is zappa.

  • @douglas0pan Sorry to say that they are wrong. that is def not Zappa.

  • THIS SONG ROCKS!

  • If Eric Clapton and (most of) The Who were my priests, I'd go to church every spare moment I had.

  • what kind of bass is that?

  • @take25again i'm a bass player and i've played a bass for 7years and johns bass has to be a custom or something he order for the movie........

  • @itsalex320 cool life story bro

  • about half of this movie is an a+, the rest a d-. this is in the first catagory.

  • whoaaa...Jesus looks like Eric!!!

  • I know it's been said many times over the last 35 years but Ann-Margret is so f*cking brilliant in this film but no one really talks about her work in this scene. Watch her around 1:46, look at her intense gaze at the statue. She doesn't even say any lines yet her acting work is extraordinary. It's great that she got a lot of recognition for her work in this film.

  • whats wrong with tommy? was he born deaf and blind or what?

  • @FunLauraorNot he lost all his senses when child, under perceived emotional stress...

  • @BlackCrowNavajo ohh okiess

  • @FunLauraorNot no problem...if you get to watch the movie, it won't impress you that much as a movie per se.. but if you're into real fantastic rock performance - than of course you will like it a lot!...

  • @BlackCrowNavajo i saw half the movie in class... we're doing a class project about rock...like poetry... a story line... so my teacher was giving us a example... and damn i love Rock! Its in my blooodd.

  • allways gave me the creeps this bit

  • This country used to produce greatness, shame it had to end

  • is it really eric or some 1 playing him?

  • @marcyboy07

Yah thats what i was wondering, Eric never really played Gibson's Did he?

  • @CoolWhip4193

Eric did use les pauls sgs and 335s with cream and with john mayalls band

but in the sevienties to preasent he used strickly strats and teles

  • @LedStones4

thanks, and i have no idea why he switched over... hate fenders particularly new ones... though Gibson isn't much better..

  • @CoolWhip4193 well thats a shame because i love fenders and i do like gibsons a lot but not as much as fender but I resepect your opion though

  • @marcyboy07 Eric, of course.. his name is in the movie credits..

  • This just begs the question: Who's Better Who's Best? Clapton or Townsend? My money is on Pete!!!

  • @GentlemanHES most definitly Pete

  • they're not even playing in note. that's how good they are. no sarcasm, I swear it.

  • clapton wails in this song man

  • This would be a interesting cult

  • Keath Moon.........Keath Moon oh my goodness Keath Moon at church......

  • @itsalex320 lol he probally makes that place unholy

  • Maravilha!

  • ......Eyes n Ears tae the blind!!

  • a church with Clapton and The Who? if that existed I'd probably believe in God haha

  • @mabudachishigure So would I lol

  • @mabudachishigure

    yeah, i definitely would....

  • slowhand dont look too good in this era !!

  • @peacelovebeachyygirl Dont mention it... I'm 17 BTW haha. Music today is shit

  • @peacelovebeachyygirl Its supposed to be symbolism of the religions. Clapton's the priest due to all of the "Clapton Is God"

  • @peacelovebeachyygirl they think that marilyn Monroe has god like powers and the only reason Tommy and his mom are there is because they want to heal Tommy because he is blind deaf and dumb

  • arthur brown...just a few seconds of greatnes!

  • who needs an church organs when you have the who

  • @smcauley600 LOL

  • Arthur Brown totally makes this clip!!!

  • This is my religion... music more important than oxygen

  • lol dont get why they picked marilyn monroe to worship.

  • @progrockAZ: no, he moves his head

  • Scrange scene,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • @pinkydogbear strange film in general actually lol but it's good in a unique kind of way...

  • At 4:58 is that Stephen Hawking ?

  • @progrockAZ Ya i was going to say that to lol

  • its funny how clapton isnt playing, and kieth moon has no cymbals on his kit

  • the bass riff is so nice and well written

  • I don't know what drugs they was on when they made this movie but I don't want any.

  • @eastweymouthchris and I want them all.

  • @eastweymouthchris I DO!!!

  • @eastweymouthchris ACID BRO, DEF ACID

  • @eastweymouthchris well clapton was just coming off heroin so no you wouldnt

  • I love these Movies the 70's was all about these experimental kinds to movies

  • I have been trying to find a credit, or a citation for this...but am I completely mistaken or is that Matt "Guitar" Murphy on the Bass? ( Specifically the black AXE model.)

It's hard to say with the shredded wheat , but it looks like him, and if it's not him then it's still one talented player.

Doesn't really matter, was just wondering....

  • @JTKorie it's John Entwistle of The Who

  • @JTKorie Uhmmmmmm... Thats the Who's bassist, Johnny Entwistle, AKA Voted Bassist of the millenium! He's who many consider the best best bassist ever. But Matt "Guitar" Murphy kicks ass with his Blues Brothers work.

  • @JTKorie Matt "Guitar" Murphy is black!

  • @mrJimCharles Thats very funny shit lmfao

  • sounds funky

  • Song name??? i know that retarded but i just dont know it

  • WHERE THE HELL IS BLACKIE??

  • @brandinator22 I don't know, I find that Sunburst Les Paul quite fetching meself...

  • @ElectricLoveland

Is´´ Eye Sight To The Blind´´

  • where's that church?...it's the only one I'd go into ....absolutely great...

  • lol now that`s a religion i`m happy to believe in....

    XD

  • amo questo film e questa canzone

  • Thanks God we have had great pop english music!

  • now that's a church i would go to

  • wasent their something wrong with tommy in this movie ? like he was "mentally chalenged"

  • @joeymann603 He saw his mother and her boyfriend kill his father (who everyone thought was dead in WW2) and they told him he never saw it or heard it, etc. Hence, he was deaf dumb and blind because his parents told him he was. And then they discovered he was the idiot-savant of pinball machines...

  • sweet lets worship marilyn monroe!

  • Entwisle looks like jesus

  • Arthur Brown should have been credited, not just Eric Clapton. Still this is the best version of "Eyesight"

  • the god of hell fire Arthur Brown is AWESOME here!

  • I wonder if the guy at 2:54 is Tommy Lee Jones

  • amazing line up

  • he he

  • Weird to hear Eric screming

  • Phynxaroll, that's actually Arthur Brown doing that screaming and blessing with Marilyn's image. They do look sort of similar though.

  • Clapton is indeed a better person for pope... but the sequel is a littles spoiled by the fact that no one is actually playing

  • Wow, Keith Moon is so good at the drums he dosnt need symbols. 0:18

  • I greatly prefer Clapton to the pope, and Marylin Monroe is far more relevant than Jesus.

  • @Zeabot91 Amen!

  • only sequence that spoilt the whole movie , but then sorry , I never rated Clapton !!

  • Clapton = God

    I worship rockstars, not messiahs

  • @FloydFan2010 What's funny and stupid about that, is that Eric Clapton is a Christian Doofus. Have you heard any of his recent cds? But yes, I do agree he's at least in the top ten guitar players ever.

  • @FloydFan2010 clapton worships the messiah

  • ERIC CLAPTON un estilo! la mejor movie evaaaaaaaaaa!

  • It does look like the Catholic Church. Statue kissing and stuff.

  • AMAZING when the camera pans out in thes tart and reveals a band ROCKIN out on the altar of a church :D WIN WIN WIN!!!!

  • Just by listening to the guitar..You know it's Clapton.

  • @Paul013065 and Clapton is god

  • the one thing i dont get is why did they fuck this part up, on the album they got it right, the preacher(clapton) should have been kept the hawker instead of mangleing it all up

  • yes eric clapton is in this movie

  • eric clapton isnt in this is he?

  • @bartman129 he's the preach ;)

  • fucken idiot

  • Comment removed

  • Arthur Brown? For some reason I always thought the priest was Pete Townshend!!

  • @rjacobs147 :

No it isn´t it´s a satire about stars and all around them

  • @AllRockable so, stars are deaf dumb and blind..

  • i love this version of this song... i also love how the scene before you saw young tommy then it just switches to roger... its so cool

and its eric clapton!! cooler than cool

  • Man must of been some strong ass joint this fuckers smoked!

  • So much symbolism in this, love it!

  • They critizize the cahtolic church of curse and, also the so called sects...Marylin Monroe = Virgin Mary?

  • Yeah I haven't seen Tommy but from what I've heard it's pretty much a satire of religion in general, especially the Catholic Church

  • Ive got tickets to see these two next month. what the heck is that going be like ?

  • Me too. I can hardly wait to see them. I got tickets which are like 17 rows away from the stage. I will promise you the show will be amazing with two greats like them.

  • LOL..LOL...what is Eric Clapton doing?

  • The priest is Eric Clapton.

  • i love the bass in this song its so chill

  • Mick Fleetwood of...oh..nevermind

  • Who is the priest?

  • @philiparomeo

The priest is Arthur Brown, The Preacher is Eric Clapton.

  • @llwink yer right! I thought it was Mick fleetwood.

  • man ithats pete's les paul that claptons using for this part but its the strat thats on the track itself

  • Reminds me of the Catholic Church with the idols.

  • Comment removed

  • At the start Eric is playing a Gibson, both in the pulpit and walking down the aisle. Then later on he's playing a black Fender Strat. Was this intentional or just a continuity error?

  • Now THIS fits the model of a church I'd like to attend.

  • LOL yeh... Any church which hands out Johnnie Walker Red Label for communion is good by me. Not too sure about the pills though.

  • is it really clapton playing the lead guitar you can hear playing?

  • In this record clapton had left the rehab just to did it, you can see it in his face. Is an excelent piece

  • Para mi una de las mejores guitarras de Eric clapton. El salió de la rehabilitación solo para grabar este tema. Me gustaría saber la marca y el modelo del bajo

  • I wonder if that left handed Strat Clapton is playing, is the one he bought for Hendrix before he died.

  • very good question but he's playing left handed and erics right handed so im guessing the image was just reversed for that segment of the scene.plus it's actually a right handed strat so i'm guessing no.

  • I think the image was just reversed. He's been reflected in the Marilyn Monroe mirror.

Apparently the guitar he was playing was his favourite Strat known as Blackie. Which is most definitely a right handed Strat. Although at the start of the song and scene he was quite clearly playing a Gibson Les Paul.

  • Yes you are 100% correct.

  • It's actually his own favourite right handed Strat, he calls Blackie. It only appears left handed, because we see a reflection in the mirror.

  • this is the most ive seen john move while playing!

  • The seen is very symbolic. Tommy is the Christ figure of the story. By Tommy unkowingly smashing the statue the movie relays the point that statues have no more power than what we give them. To him it was just a piece of plaster with no signifigance.

  • That's actually a very good analysis of the scene. Thumbs up from me.

Of course at the end of the movie, everyone susses Tommy himself is a false idol. And get rather pissed-off about it.

  • Look- it's 'No feeling' Clapton! Perfect for Tommy!

  • TOMMY!!! <3

  • "Eyesight to the blind" by Sonny Boy Williamson

  • i love eric

  • Is that Clapton singing? It doesn't sound like him. Definitely his guitar though.

  • the name of this song is hawker

  • no this is "eyesight for the blind"

  • Why isn't there a cult for Eric Clapton?? ;)
