I don't understand the fuss, it's a beautiful DISPLAY set, no need to be carbon steel! Horses for courses as they say! Anybody is entitled to buy what they want with THEIR money to suit THEIR needs!
@deadlywith guitar a real sword is made of high carbon steel which us very vulnerable to rust but makes up for it by being more durable than stainless steel. The only perk that stainless steel has is it's much less likely to rust but even that can rust eventually. By touching steel your skin leaves salts and oils which is a majour cause of rusting.
i do believe what he says is true, the blade's material should not be touched by the fingers because the hands contain oils,it will tarnish the blade leaving it to a worthles peice of metal, when the samurais had their swords they cleaned it everyday at sun-up,when they had the ritual to respectively execute their ashamed enemy they would water the blade as to inact their beliefs(and making the blade moist makes it slice better,it could shear bone).
You are not aware of the correct way to handle a japanese sword/knife if the weapon is of any value which is doutful you would certainly not put your acid ridden fingers on the blade and you wouldn't draw and resheath it the way you did
Should you really touch the blade like that? not that you could get cut with it but... wont it rust ? o.O

That is used to save the leaf of the sword not to be oxide and is out of wood simple for the humidity may leave.
