  • you shuold turn the TV off and watch the noise go down in the amp

  • @OhSoInsane yeah you're absolutely right, but i was watching myth-busters at the same time. i wasnt laying down tracks or anything so noise was not a big deal.

  • @OhSoInsane well you cant exactly watch noise... haha

  • do you prefer this cab compared to the traditional recto (oversized) one.?

  • @BlueShirt7 I have never tried the traditional one. I can only guess that it would tend to have less bass and faster attack because of its smaller size.

  • @geetargeek79 thanks a lot! :) i think I'll get it with the rear loaded Diezel Cab.

    Cheers

  • @BlueShirt7 now that i have tried before and it's awesome! i believe i tried the rear loaded with v30.

  • @geetargeek79 i just wanted to ask you if it is possible so control the +/- switch in channel 2 also via MIDI?

    greez

  • @BlueShirt7 no it's not. but there are ways to do it. somebody posted it in the diezel forum a while ago but maybe you can still search it up.

  • @BlueShirt7 but you can do the same channelsettings and store one with + and one with - to two buttons

  • @geetargeek79 From your video and others, the herbert sounds tight... do you think this amp could cover 80s thrash tones? ie: anthrax, megadeth, exdodus

  • is this the rgt42dx if so how are the stocki pick ups

  • your the man great playing my friend...do you still have the herbert ? whats your opinion on it ?

  • Yeah, I'm still impressed also, 2 years after I first commented this video. Especially with the articulation, the ease you give to it, impressive and nice to hear this :) Cheers

  • Dude .. How loud is this thing ? i bought a diesel head and it's too loud to be used in a small room .. What's ur take ?

  • @durarail The thing gets really loud. But at the same token, it retains a really good sound at low volumes.

  • @durarail buy a Dr Z Air Brake - it is an attenuator that works at any impedence. I use one with my Diezel Herbert and I can crank the hell out of it while playing at bedroom level.

  • haha. thanks. they're close friends but i am actually looking for other bands.

  • Dude your playing is sick. Simply put. You should get some gig footage I'd like to see you in action with your band or jamming. You alone is good enough tho! keep it up. Im inspired. I've been into the Diezel Herbert because it has been the main touring amplifier for Muse, one of my favorite bands. Cool to see it in action with just a guitar and a great musician.

  • Thanks! Please visit my project's myspace page - coldricekillers - for some gig pics. it's more like a hard rock band.

  • Pretty sure Muse use a VH4 man.

  • @falconer333 you are right. muse = VH4

  • i shared the stage with this guy a couple weeks ago. i didn't get to use his amp! and he even let me use it! :-(

  • Actually my dream amp set up :O the best tone I'v ever heard from an amp. Played one on friday so i can say that for anyone who may disbelieve, they sound so much better in reality. But they are so expensive :(

  • That is some of the best tone ive heard. Bet it sounds amazigly better in person rather than a camcorder shitty mic.

  • Dude sounds awesome! Did you get rid of a Mesa Rectifier for this? or ever had one? Thinking of putting some EL34's in my Dual Rectifier 3 channel to see what it sounds like. But let me know if you like this better than the Dual Rect. Keep rockin!

  • I actually like both and can live with either one. They really don't sound similar so it's hard to choose. The Diezel is closer to a Marshall and the Mesa is, well, a Mesa. Both kick ass... i still have both.

  • Hehe, aren't these amps monstrous? I have one with JJ EL34s and SED Winged C EL34s. Sounds great. In the beginning sounds like you had a hell of a lot of Midcut dialed in. :O

  • Wow dude that fan is soo cool...you're playing that diezel herbert and its just sitting there and rotating like nothing is going on :D its soo chill ;)

  • the volume was not really all that high so the fan didn't really vibrate if that's what you mean...

  • awesome sound man !! > can you tell me which tubes do you use please ^^ thanks

  • i use rubys. 4 6l6 and 2 el34 with jj12ax7. i'm about to switch to 4 6550 and 2 el34.

  • The brightness of those LEDs is beyond belief

  • i have the same rig as you, what knob settings do you do on channel 3

  • sorry, don't remember. it changes constantly. i did the video almost 3 years ago.

  • Myth Buster must be great to watching while playing guitar.

    LOL. cool job man.

    Peace out.

  • dice job putting a fan next to your audio equpment and plugging it into the same circuit. thats how feedback happens. your playing was cool

  • don't forget the television...

  • it's mythbusters!!!

  • i think it's the one with the hovercraft

  • yes it was.

  • nothin like chilling, playing guitar, and watching tv!

  • I agree especially after a bowl.

  • sick playing and sound man! i can only assume that your neighbours truly like you ;) cheers.

  • aus gear mo pre ah.... kanu score mo sa diezel mo saka san mo na bili? saka anu b mas maganda, herbert or vh4 para sau?

  • Pare gawin nyo ng kanta yan ng CRK ! ! ! ! Tapos pa RAFFLE mo yang Diezel mo ! ! ! ... hehehehe ... astig tunog mo pare ... patulong naman sa POd XT Live ko ... Dennis GinBlinD

  • are you really small or is that cab really big?

  • both

  • sounds kick ass!!!

p.s. what was on the tv? looks like someone got thrown down the stairs

  • mythbusters, and some commercials.

  • Does the VH4 sound anything like this?

  • i haven't tried one, but i would say no.

  • damn, that's one fucking sweet sounding amp you have there though.

  • still has that diezel sound but doesnt sound like this too much

  • Question. I know the herbert has enough gain, and tightness, but is the tone more like a high presence trebley sear? or like a fat cigar tone? (if you understand, answer, if not, don't.

  • the highs is very hi-fi with pronounced presence around 3-4khz. unlike the dual rectifier, it's presence is set much higher. having both, i like either one.

    All IMHO.

  • nice kirk hammett solo there at the beginning. so many people critize him for that kind of stuff (wah and pentatonics) but im like dude stfu. anyways, nice tone. could use an EQ pedal to fine tune it a bit though

  • finally, somebody recognizes the influence! =) i do use eq somtimes in the loop to cut a bit around 3-4khz. it makes the amp sound more raw instead of hi-fi.

  • that was better than anything I've heard Kirk play XD

  • haha. thanks. he's really a big influence on me ever since i was young. i can't play sweeps or anything technical so i stick to the basics... lol.

  • hi just want to ask you if this amp is good for prog rock like dt and all that stuff without having to put an overdrive in front..

    thanks

  • yes i think it can do prog rock. you won't sound exactly like jp but the amp will sound good nonetheless.

no need to put an od in front as it has tons of gain. it's also tight enough by itself.

  • hey. nice amp! was trying this today, 3 great channels with a brutal third channel.

how much did you pay ?

  • putang ina ang lupit ng gear mo! dalhin mo minsan sa gig yan!

  • are you from a band called "Cold Rice Killers"? LOL.

  • NO. Their guitar player sucks...

  • 1.What's the seeting in CH3 when play that riff?

2.I'm always feel that VH4's Ch3 doesn't have enough gain like this,a little weak. What's your opinion buddy?

  • i forgot the setting. it was a long time ago and i always change my settings. my setting now is:

    gain @ noon

    vol @ 9:00

    treble @ 2:00

    mid @ noon

    bass @ noon

    i haven't used a vh4 so can't really comment..

  • yes

  • have you play an ibane prestige? tell me the difference between the necks. please. cause I like this guitar, its a neck thru body isnt it?

  • no i haven't played a prestige and yes it's a neck thru.

  • what you watching on the tv?

  • which song comes after 5:13

  • Nice sounding rig, good playing. You feel like the big Boogie cab is a good match for the Herbert? I ask because I have the same cab which I currently use with a 5150 II. But I will soon be buying a Herbert head. I'm just wondering if I will want to get a new cab.

  • that's a good question. i actually bought the front loaded diezel cab along with the herbert. but after trying it side by side with the boogie, i prefer the boogie much better than the diezel.

  • what effects box/rack were you using?

  • see description...

  • Is it loud? LIKE CRAZY LAOUD like the VH4?

  • i don't know how loud the vh4 gets, but this one can get real loud.

  • Nice! Did you just play Narda? lol

  • yes i did...

  • Nice camera lol!

You've got a nice tone, good effects and a very nice guitar. I've the same one in white good Luck

  • Versatile amp?

  • I have that same guitar.

  • is there a nice smooth rhythm sound on this guitar? i like the distorted sounds, but im not loving the twang in the clean. its just my liking, but, this guitar seems great. nice playing too.

  • i think it's possible. i didn't really use the neck pickup for the cleans on this one as far as strumming clean chords. thanks.

  • Myth Buster's for the win!

also, awesome amp and good playing :D

  • thanks. i love myth busters.

  • What, did you have to sell your shoes to buy the amp?! Put some goddamn shoes on Bilbo!!!

  • i'm too poor now to afford shoes. but with the herbert, i don't mind not having shoes...

  • Hey, I noticed you have had this amp for a long time. Nice tone by the way. I have a question...or two. When you plug straight into the amp without any effects at all and crank it to band levels do you get a lot of screech and feedback? In other words, does this amp need a noise gate? Also, what effects do you run with this? Thanks, Mike.

  • I would say that yes you would need a noise gate if you don't turn your volume down when not playing. It's not much of a screech, just a regular musical feedback to my ears. the effects is a yamaha dg stomp. please check the description for more info.

  • Maybe I have some microphonic tubes or something. It seems when I push this amp to get a good quality metal rhythm on channel 3 I can't play without getting a bunch of screeching and feedback between chord progressions. It did have a ROUGH trip through transit(OOPS). To be honest with you although the Herbie sounds great straight in, my 73 superlead with my digitech 2101 blows it away. I'll have to get it looked at. I don't believe it is running on full potential.

  • buy a noise supressor

  • i gotta get myself a bad horsie already...

  • a little tip, keep your rig away from the T.V and other appliances. I can here your getting feedback when you stop playing.

  • Thanks. I know that, but I can't miss Mythbusters... ;)

  • that is one sick fan in the corner!

  • Mythbusters :D

  • I love the distorion you're getting...what power tubes are you running? EL34's or 6L6GC's?

  • both.

    2x 6L6 outer, 4x EL34 inner...

    Thanks.

  • Awesome, same as me but I have the 6L6's on the Inner. I'm running JJ Tesla 6L6's and TAD EL34's. What you got in your baby?

  • I don't really remember. It's been a while since I replaced them. I ordered them from Eurotubes.

  • U must have a damn good job or uve saved up all ur life. Diezel amps are a load. But im getting an orange head and a messa 4 12 cab

  • I did. It was called the military.

I've always been intrigued by orange...

  • cool amp and cool playing too, what song was it arround the last minute?

  • who was that at 2:41? lol

  • my 'lil sis.

  • how can you afford one of these? I want one soooo bad

  • ummm... work your ass off.

  • what song was that you were playing on clean about 1 and 1/2 minutes in?

  • nothing really. just noodling.

  • awsome amp, im getting one... yeaaa mythbusters!!!

  • alien amp XD

    ne, ganz ok!

  • do you have humbuckers installed? were you using it?

  • yes. yes.

  • Great tone!!

Im lookimg for an amp but Im not shure abot wich...

    The options are

    DIEZEL HERBERT

    VHT PITBULL G 100 ULTRALEAD

  • IMO get the VHT theyre my favorite amps for sure. The onboard graphic eq opens up a lot of tonal options. And I've always thought Diezel were a little overpriced for what you get.

  • great sound man!!!

    that amp sounds really goodd

how much did it cost you???

  • These amps usually run about $3500 - 4000, but if you can afford it, Get One

  • you can buy a car for that

  • Yeah but who needs to go out when you have a diezel amp man. seriously

  • BTW. I spent the video watching the TV. He's watching Mythbusters, the hoverboard episode!

  • Very nice, love the amp and great playing what effects are you using at 1:30 and 2:45? Also what scales are you using throughout the video? I love your playing style.

  • Thank you. I was just using mostly pentatonics (minor) or some minor modes that I can't really remember. I usually noodle without thinking about it. I just fire right off the bat. The effects used all throughout is a Yamaha DG stomp patched in the series effects loop.

  • I'm guessing you switched positions on the pentatonic a lot then? So you've never practiced those licks before? I only know a couple of positions on the pentatonic scale and I can't play it that fast when I improvise it :( How long you been playing? And any tips for getting this good at just improvising shredding on this scale?

  • I've been playing for quite a while now. But chances are, if I'm asked to play the same licks I played here all over again I won't be able to. They may sound similar but not exactly the same.

  • is the wah pedal from the Yamaha DG-Stomp?

Mine has megga tone suck with the wha (Roland EV-5 thanks,

  • no.

  • Nice Gothenburg around 5:20.

  • I like In Flames and I think their riffs rock!

  • I would love to own a Diezel. I just need 5 grand

  • nice is that the bright blue finish?

  • Woah dude, I love the tone of this amp, nice playing btw, Myth Busters r the shit lol!

  • i love how new amps have 50+ knobs and a ridiculous amount of front end gain. I still love the classics like '68 marshall plexi but i'd rather sleep with a porn star than the girl next door.

  • great job man i loved the beginning im thinking aout getting this guitar soon but i want to know how is the edge iii on this? thanks hope u reply

  • thanks. the trem is a little too stiff compared to some of my guitars with original floyds. i'm also not a big fan of non-threaded tremolo arms... but it still feels great to play.

  • I have this same guitar (and ordered an LTD M-1000 a few days ago) and I can second your opinion about the tremolo.

But all in all, it's a great guitar. According to me, it's about on par with the lower end prestiges.

Did you swap your pickups, geetargeek79?

  • No, they're still stock. Really tight for stock.

  • In that case, it makes me realize my amp sucks :)

    It's the INF1/2 right?

  • correct.

  • what's that song called you start playing at 5:12?

  • nothing. i was only noodling throughout...

  • how is the rgt42dx?

  • it's an excellent guitar for the price.

  • im set on gettin 1 sumtime after xmas

     wots it like to play?

  • slightly wide and thin neck, fast to play. The body being mahogany is solid and a little heavy. The stock pickups are excellent.

  • cool thanks

  • Great Amp! Nice playing. I like your shoes ;-)

  • Great playing amp to :o)

  • I ENVY YOU seriously nice gear and how much was that mesa cab?? 2 grand and i bet that dizel was like 6 grand or something wow your a lucky bum also you play really really well good to know at least the gear is being put to good use

  • wow i am flashed from this delay effect! what is it?

  • geetargeek79 - Your articulation is great! Very bright sound of the clean channel, and clear hi-gain sound. But you have a lot in your hands, you play very confident. Great job man!! I'm impressed and my mouth gets a hilarious smile while hearing it ;p Nice stuff anyway. Cheers!!

  • Thanks. Nice to know that the playing is also appreciated and not just the gear...

  • geetargeek Your articulation is great. Man i'm impressed how clean and confident your playing is. The more impressive it is when it comes to the fact that this is a tube amp. Great job and your hi-gain sound is very clear. My mouth gets hilarious smile while hearing it ;p Also great gear BTW :) Cheers!

  • Considered one of the new Diezel cabs?

  • haven't tried them yet. haven't seen one locally...

  • Nice vid mate.

I really want that RGT42DX guitar man! :D . The sound seems to be awesome!

    And nice playing btw ;)

  • sick stuff, why the mesa cabs?

  • I had the front loaded diezel and these mesa cabs. i liked the mesas better.

  • What kind of wah pedal are you using?

  • Morley Bad Horsie 2 ;)

nice vid man!, i really want that guitar.... but in white xD

  • hey at 5:12 onwards wot do you play? and at 5:40 wot do you play there its cool

i want this amp but its way too expensive for me atm

  • If you're talking about the chuggin riff in the end, it's an original. the solos and everything else are just noodled.

  • Hehe Myth busters on the tv. Awesome playing man, now i definetly buying a diezel. Thats it!!!!.....

    death to the naigbors!!!

  • "death to the neighbors" lol! My neighbors have been pretty cool. they don't really mind me playing out loud, so as long it's at a reasonable time.

  • Hey man, great vid, nice tone.

Have you changed the pups on your RGT42? I have the same guitar and was wondering what to change to.

  • thanks. everything you see in the vid is stock.

  • I went for the Front Loaded Diezel 4x12. It was more the sound I was looking for.

Your EQ settings are very similar to what I had dialled in origionally lol, but i've just pumped more gain in ;).

I'm setting up a little recording studio in my bedroom so i'll make some recordings and post them up on YouTube.

  • cool. I'll check it out when you do...

  • Hello again!

The Herbert has arrived and I just can't get enough off it! I like the tone you got going on in Channel 3. What position are your pots in for this EQ?

  • Awesome! So what cab did you end up with? I forgot my setting on this vid. But try this for now. It's my current setting:

    Gain = 10:30

    Volume = 12:00

    treble = 3:00

    mid = 9:00

    bass = 3:00

    mid cut = 10:00

    mid cut level = 12:00

    presence and deep = 2:00

They're a bit extreme but they work for me right now.

  • Congratulations dude you really got their somethin else!! I just tried a Diezel herbert in a music exposition, and damn i never heard such thing... The channel 3 blown me away, so much gain!! My Mesa/Boogie solo50 Single Rectifier is a big pile of shit compared to that piece of art! Diezel Amps conquered my heart!! The priece explains the unquestionable quality!!

    Keep Rockin!!

  • dude congratulations you are very lucky!! I just tried a diezel herbert on a instrument exposition, and i never heard nothing like that, my mesaboogie rectifier sounds like a big pile of shit compared to that piece of art!! My god Diezel Amps conquered my heart!! they fuckin kick ass

  • what's that thing you play at 3:22? :P

  • hehe. I don't really know. I was just noodling around. But I listen to it now, it sounds like an In Flames riff played clean. My first thought about that riff when I heard it was it sounded like a 'surf' riff.

  • You have a 150W RMS head for your bedroom?

    *overkill*

Anyway, sounds as nice as it should for a $4000+ amp.

  • I would love to play live more often, but I just don
