  • One of the best bands ever!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jason Lee, let's get drunk and high.

  • Only 1 problem w/this song,it's 2short!

  • Somehow I've always thought of this song and video as the sardonic version of Beastie Boys "Fight for your right (to party)"

  • Jason Lee+Sonic Youth= greatest music video ever.

  • Deftones clearly nicked the first part for "hole in the earth"

  • its a lot of noise. sorry i tired

  • love jason lee

  • thegoodteacher(dot)com

  • 666. blowen sinds 14 jears of age . When i was 10 started of with tabac.

  • I just found out the bass Kim's playing is Keanu Reeve's. My mind, blown.

  • @GrungeSophie Yeah I read that too, I think that this was the time when he dated Sofia Coppola or something like that. Apparently he was offered a cameo in the video but turned it down because he didn't think he was "cool" enough to do it.

  • Jason Lee skateboarded proffessionally before starring in kevin smith films

  • Thurston looks so cutee

  • haha, is that Jason Lee?

  • @jfpacelli yeessss:)

  • kim is so hot.

  • oh my god high school

i havent seen this in YEARS this used to be my favorite video

  • Is that Jason Lee? That's awesome.

  • Minha infancia.*-*

  • love it...

  • Hey Crabman.

  • The guy from My Names Earl is in this video skateboarding.

  • @Anthon13579 Jason Lee, and he was an awesome pro skater before he started acting. Oh and Guy Mariano is in there too. Probably Rudy Johnson and Mark Gonzalez somewhere as well. Oh god bring back the 90s!

  • thumbs up i think this comment is shit!!!!!!!!!!

  • I always see a lot of "music sucks today", but good music is everywhere- its just not touched by big, corporate channels of commerce. You just have to dip beneath the sludge. Trust me, there's plenty if good stuff there.

  • so good music sucks today....

  • fuck dude, every time I listen to bands like sonic youth, dinosaur jr, especially this song, all I wanna do is get on my bike or skateboard and go for a ride in the floodway behind my house

  • obsession ( for you, the voice in my head )

ME and my friends are CRAZY! old Good times

  • His name was Joe Cole.

  • @ANiceGameOfChess

damn right....this was about Henry Rollins best friend who was killed for no sane reason whatsoever.

  • @jkoob13 In one of his books, Rollins talks about how the police first thought the murder was about drugs. When Rollins said they didn't do drugs, the cops claimed to have talked to their drug dealer named "Greg". Rollins called their bluff and said something like, "Oh yeah? Let's go talk to Greg". The cops lost some pretty valuable moments by being fucking idiots. Thank god Henry Rollins doesn't take shit, even from cops.

  • MUSICA DE DROGAS, MUUUUITO BOMM!!!

  • 1:00 is actually Jason Lee back in his skateboarding days, says in various sources he took minor acting jobs with this video mentioned.

  • For all those saying that this amazing band wants to be sound like nirnava....SONIC YOUTH band was borned in New york back in 1981.....and by the way Today we celebrate Thurston Moore as he turns 53!!!!.

They rock, melding post-punk with alternative rock with avant-noise and the are pioners and the bigest influence for the 90s alternative rock... Happy birthday, Thurston!

  • huray for plaid

  • 1:00 = Earl Hickey :D

  • @MusiqueUploadOfficie jason lee

  • @MusiqueUploadOfficie His name is Jason Lee

  • @MusiqueUploadOfficie Banky Edwards

  • was that edie brickell?

  • Jason Lee.... pre scientology.... huh.....

  • Thurston whore is the man really he called him self that lol

  • this guys are THE original Indie-grunge-alternative band

  • anyone else get here by typing 100 in the searchbar?

  • @rapjazz199 no now shut up

  • sik as fuck- this is when skating was cool u freakin trendy skater phucs

  • I like that this video exists - every time I look at some ladypanted, eyeliner wearing, swoop do rocking, hipster emo turd I get this feeling of superiority. This video reminds me that my generation dressed like a bunch of homeless people - not much better, really.

  • @MarsHottentot you are soooooooooooooooooooooooo right

  • @MarsHottentot no, its a lot better.

  • @MarsHottentot congrats for being a douchebag! :D Feel superior...you'll never write a song like Sonic Youth can. But keep it up, tiger. I'm sure one day you'll make something of yourself. Maybe try giving reach-arounds in the subway? You might actually do that reasonably well.

  • @chemicalswings What's in a name?

  • @MarsHottentot Yeah, your generation's the best. I hate the stupid swoopy haired black eyeliner hipster emo people. I'd much rather people not care as much about looks and dress like homeless people. But at least I can get that feeling of superiority you speak of being their age and liking much better stuff.

  • @KristinNirvana RE: WHAT I MEANT: All kids dress in a way that makes older people roll their eyes - this is as true of my parents generation as it is of mine, yours and your kids (eventually). Thus, I (you, we) should NOT feel so superior when looking at the way a modern kid dresses - because I (you / we) was / were NO DIFFERENT. I know that nuance on the net is tricky and Youtube generally has no grey area (everything either 'rules' or 'sucks'), but that's all I was saying.

  • @MarsHottentot Oh, ok. I just relate to the whole gen x thing and can't relate to my own. Actually it saddens me more than anything. That music actually seemed real once and it doesn't anymore, and people could walk around with long messy hair and no one would care. That people could be real and seem very down to earth. I would never dress in a way that would make other people roll their eyes just to do that. I like what I like and hate that teenagers do stuff because their told to to rebel.

  • @KristinNirvana YOU GOT IT ALL WRONG !!!!!

    xD

  • @MarsHottentot

    dont hate HATER

you will never understand Sonic Youth

  • @MarsHottentot

    dont hate HATER

you will never understand Sonic Youth

  • @MarsHottentot The more I look at old punk videos, the more I realize half of them were eyeliner wearing and long-haired as well. Getting more and more confused about why ~emo was actually the name of a new look that... already half existed.

  • @RosaLui not really because punk is totally different

  • @dougthealligator As a purely visual thing and a style? Barely. And the eyeliner was just as thick if not thicker, which was my particular point. Music itself entirely aside, eople complain about the eyeliner with emo. Nobody ever does with punk. I wonder what they think makes it a valid choice in one case, yet not the other.

  • this song is sickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wtf is my name is earl i know jason lee from video days

  • Fucking awesome, that video never gets old.

  • cool!!!100%grunge

  • I find all the 90's nostalgia funny considering the best Sonic Youth albums were from the 80's.

  • @nirvanawg This was the best Sonic Youth album. It was from the 90's.

  • i miss the 90s... altough i was just a child

  • jason lee (the guy from my name is earl/skateboarder) always reminded me of dave grohl ...90s coincidence,i think not.

  • Kim Gordon: sexiest bass alive.

  • where is the guy from my name is earl? i cant see him?

  • @corpsemunger It's the skateboarder Jason Lee used to be a professional skateboarder.

  • @TheBTKallday ahh the guy with the cap - thanks

  • @corpsemunger oh, come on.

  • @icansaypfft haha - I know who he is nooow - he didn't look too much like he does now, plus I have only seen adverts for my name is earl so I wasn't too familiar with what he looked like anyway :)

  • Comment removed

  • @corpsemunger yea this video was made years ago, he looks really really different now (: especially in my name is earl it's quite hard to recognise him with moustache anyway:D

  • Yeah, this is the only episode of ...Earl that gave 100%

  • Exclusive session and interview with New York rock band Sonic Youth on Rock Feedback

    youtube.com/user/rockfeedback?feature=mhum#p/u/11/tBdPB7iyDgk

  • Her top has RATM on it, but a rolling stone logo

    haha, so alternative

  • @corpsemunger

    dude it says EAT ME

  • @FLANHALEN But where is the "E" ??

  • @corpsemunger

behind the guitar strap....or it fell off from being one of those shitty felt iron-on letters

  • @FLANHALEN yeh your right

  • overrated and boring

  • upon first glance, steve shelley might appear to be a computer geek who works at an office, but if you got to know him, you'll find out hes a crazy good rock drummer in a crazy good alt rock band!

  • Joe Cole

  • ...back when jason lee was a skateboarder. i miss the early 90's, i feel bad for you young people

  • watch meeee

  • Sonic youth>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Scientology

  • @JJJJJS

    You speak wisdom my friend.

  • ha ha i thought the lead singer was a girl because of cool thing lol... it wouldnt have mattered they still kickass

  • This is the first video I ever saw of Sonic Youth, I was a late bloomer, but they have struck a chord and have stayed with me.

  • Man it took a while to find this awsome song good times

  • The chick at 00:40 is fucking hot.

  • @hammercrafter - jason lee. check out his part in blind video days

  • The skateboarder is the dude from My Name Is Earl.

  • All love for the ones

  • @emokiller907 lol you are funny, bet you're an emo in disguise.... FAG

  • @zenhighwayman no shit huh dude? jason lee's tre flip off the curb was sick

  • cross ,skating on a Sonic Youth, off Earl's list

  • the drum break was a good addition to the rock that was occurring

  • Comment removed

  • Is that Jason Lee? He looks young in this! Great tune.

  • 1:58-2:34 kick-ass bass riff

  • I'll have more than a party if SY jams in my home ;)

  • What episode of My Name is Earl is this?

  • @yourname50 This song was written for Joe Cole, who was Rollins' best friend and shot in front of Rollins as they were returning to their home in the 90's. It's sure clever to compare this to a bad Jason Lee show, though.

  • @masivp

And I'm sure him nor anyone else was offended by my comment.

  • i think these are all cut scenes from mallrats

  • Brodie MAN!!!! Jason Lee is the fucking man, forgot he was in this vid......been a long time since i've listened to these guys, found this cd in my room the other day and thought i'd give it a listen to....glad i did....fucking love it.

  • I'm glad I listened to this in the 90's and not the spice girls.

  • @JonnoThomas lmao ya everybody always says they wish they grew up in the 90s so they could listen to this but they forget that there has always been shit music

  • @PartyDown1000 But you forget that nowdays finding a good talented band is near impossible

90s has grunge and rave music

nowdays we have screano and dubstep >.< (not to mention the pop scene)

  • @boredbranflakes well we have cage the elephant and vampire weekend and thats about as good as it gets

  • @PartyDown1000 Exactly. Dig some early 90s pop compilations out and see how good the music was back then. There always has and always will be shit music. And even though the record companies are certainly evil, I know a few garage rock bands who are playing some pretty diabolical stuff. Haha

  • @iamcalledcarlos have you noticed there's a lot of bands that want to be nirvana, sonic youth, hole, etc. so they've been announcing every chance they get that they're indie?

  • Comment removed

  • did someone notice that the skateboarder is jason lee?

  • i haven't read other comments yet. :P

  • Spike Jonze and Sonic Youth. It's like a dream world.

  • not listened to theese in so long, but they're amazing!

  • Jason Lee at 0:35 LOL

  • Is Jason Lee?

  • @Elvizzzzz yep

  • Why there are a lot of ppl that pity today's kids?????

Yes, we do have a LOT of crappy-music served from TV and internet, but it's all matter of choice- you DON'T HAVE TO WATCH MTV OR PINK TV OR WHATEVER.... and there are so much great musicians today, not only BlackEyedGagaSpears mutant :]

    peace people, peace!!! XD

  • I'm a poser, i listen to sonic youth to feel cool

  • one of my top ten fav albums of all time

  • I was watching this video the other day and my 21 year old little sister came by while I was watching this video. She asked me "Is this a new band or something? They're pretty good!" I said" this is from 1991" She was shocked! I find it surprising that a band from 1991 still looks "cool" to a 21 year old. But Sonic Youth were always ahead of the curve on everything!

  • This song is The Ballz !! .Hits you right in gut/nuts.

    Hit Me !!!

  • My friend Guy Mariano is in this. It was different back then. You couldnt youtube the video. You had to actually sit in front of MTV for hours waiting for it to come on.
