Superb...it's hard to explain just how much Eloise became an anthem of the times, I can't listen to any rendition of this special song without reflecting on better days - Thank you Paul and Barry Ryan for this and many other great musical offerings...loved them all - still do!
Talk about taking me back to the good old days. I loved this song to the max. in the 60s and still do. Great to see Barry can still punch it out with the best of them - keep 'em coming Barry, you're a legend (like your bro who wrote the song ,,,)
Just found some old 45rpm singles of Barry Ryan, been playing them all afternoon, forgot just how good he was....this is a Fantastic Song, keep singing Barry...Alan from London
I prefer Tino Casal's version of the song , I like his voice, the lyrics of the song and the more aggressive rhythm. Even the version made several years ago by the band Stravaganzza, based on Tino's version.

Great song, and good orchestra. Interesting how the French understand the world's language, English. They should catch up with the West and start speaking it as their first language. It will be better for them. Even the backward Chinese communists are learning English as the mandatory language.
It's really mysterious Elaine, one day, the video was come back without I didn't do anything. Thanks for your comment and all of your nice videos, I appreciate them. Thanks too for the other comments of the Barry's Fans.
While Barry is complimenting the conductor and orchestra, we can hear the entertainer say : " The voice he's kept ! I had told you ! Now let's sit down and thank him very very much, and we'll ask him to come back one day, because it really was great!".
This may be idle talk, a casual remark to congratulate him again, but if, if there was to be a next time someday, I wish he asked him two songs, and Barry would choose the other one and we might get the chance ...
to see Barry sing " Love is Love " or " The Hunt ", why not " Kitsch " as the word, the Kitsch deco and the seventies are in fashion again, or perhaps he would choose the beautiful aerial " Turn away ", because, French fellows, Barry is also a lot of other songs, also composed by Paul, and he would sing this time this second song, " la cerise sur le gâteau "( in French, we say the cherry, not the icing on the cake ) for the pleasure of those who have appreciated his singer's talent for long !!!
Well at least you put Barry Ryan in front of David Vanian so you cant be all bad mate....By the way; what laxaties did your mum take the day you was born?
You did not even really living in that time era I also make my own decisions, basher.
I know better then you the English AND Irish culture, your living in France? Well I lived a long time in the UK, so don't give me a lecture about England Mr.Now it all, your a master of nothing but sh*t !People will get fedup of you and you won't get many friends that way.
You have a lot of problems that you like to bashing people like that,it also seems that be you need a doctor, because you are really frustrated.Your writing don't make any sence, you getting personal and out of line. This page is to talk about Barry's music not your personal vendetta's against people who like Barry's music, you make yourself ridiculous with your arrogant childish talk and lak of beheaving in good manners, seems that you find yourself better then someone else.
Well Sabaiphare we still all waiting here of what kind of music you actual like.
You can't judge Barry or his singing because when this song came out,you where not even born(on your page it says your 38).If you look down on people who eat fish & chip(s!), it looks very arrogant and not every one by the way eats fish & chips. If you don't like this page or this music then stay away from it, simple and find your own music on youtube.

Barry Ryan has become rather a recluse in the uk. I'm only used to seeing him in old promo films or video from 1968. Personally i was very impressed by that performance. He obviously looks forty years older but his voice, although not as strong as it was, still hold's up remarkably well. The band behind him was very good, apart from the synth, in place of the original string section.
Yes, Sabaiphare, music for the masses is Pop Music! It encompasses a broad spectrum of music & provides a platform for a diversity of artists to present their work - given the opportunity!
This, together with a few others, has stood the test of time, & become a classic.
With or without connections, opportunities in life do arise... Some people, however, risk missing theirs because they're too busy whining about how lucky someone else got....
Frogg, if you can't handle the success of someone then stay away of youtube or are you maby someone of the imitators, to bashing a nice and good friendly singer like Barry. My hearing is perfect, maybe you have a swimming ear frogg!
He's the original and the only one who can sing this song perfect!
Youtube has demonstrated that there are a huge number of fans who are delighted that Barry still sings Paul's songs & wish he made more live performances.
Barry can sing, and better then those imitations like Helmut Lotti.
Can you sing the high notes like Barry? I have doubts about that. The results of sale are the evidence that this was one of the most selling popsongs of that time. You where not even born that time, so don't judge this song if you don't know the real facts.
Great to hear this song again. I last heard in while a student in London back in '68. It was on a juke box and we played it over and over. I think it cost us 6 pence a song back then. Oh, how I miss those days in London. Great work Barry!
He may be old and his voice a bit more rough but the song is eternal and still so fascinating like in 1968. What a moment on that night! I wish I was there clapping my hands. What a wonderfull public that was and what a marvelous playing of that orchestra!!

So there you have it; a tried and tested formula.
Its ironic that a band like the Dammed, who in their punk conception actually championed your very thoughts ended up covering the song!
now thats irony.

....But your remarks concerning connections & agents are totally unsubstantiated and utterly absurd!
Everyone has connections, & every successful artist has an agent....
And in any business, any agent without influence had better be gone! Who would employ them?

This is the only original singer Barry Ryan of this song.

What got poor or rich got to do with this?
Barry can sing, and better then those imitations like Helmut Lotti.
Can you sing the high notes like Barry? I have doubts about that. The results of sale are the evidence that this was one of the most selling popsongs of that time. You where not even born that time, so don't judge this song if you don't know the real facts.

Still a great song and Barry sings it even better now than in the sixties.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
He couldn't sing it originally. Now he sings it better but it is still terrible. He only got into showbiz thru family connections.

Great to hear this song again. I last heard in while a student in London back in '68. It was on a juke box and we played it over and over. I think it cost us 6 pence a song back then. Oh, how I miss those days in London. Great work Barry!

Fantastic done Barry! Your voice is still very good.
By the way, Helmut Lotti still has to learn a lot here's the proof, the one and only Barry Ryan!
Thanks to show this very nice video and also thanks to French TV, merci beaucoup!

He may be old and his voice a bit more rough but the song is eternal and still so fascinating like in 1968. What a moment on that night! I wish I was there clapping my hands. What a wonderfull public that was and what a marvelous playing of that orchestra!!
