  • What the? Why does this have so much views? lol

  • i hope toki to Towa get ported to NA it looks so O.O good

  • Since i didnt have any more words i could put in my last comment im going to continue =P

Kiddy porn for RebornAleph is Fan-Service for otaku's and not to mention me =P. If you guys can't take fan-service don't buy the game, it's as simple as that. hmm what to talk about..... oh yea Toki to Towa looks so amazing. ShadowElite08 if you ever get the game do you mind showing me like a 10 minute gameplay or something =). PS3 era for JRPG's is good =P since i <3<3<3<3 em. Anime style games ftw \(^.^)/

  • Well Well Well I had a very nice day reading RebornAleph's comments and they were quite the bullshits of comments I've ever seen. Keep in mind that JRPG's are AIMED for Japanese audiences not just some guy waiting for it to be translated. If you guys have a problem with fan-service go play some other games. and for all you ragers out there: HyperDimension Neptunia/mk 2, Ar Tonelico series and the Argarest series are great with their battle system and story. Toki to towa looks so fucking amazing

  • Hoping the .Hack game will be good. Meruru looks great.

I don't like Toki to Towa's art. I think the anime characters don't fit well with the backgrounds, but maybe that'll change when I see the trailer.

  • @Shinryu7x did you every played a jrpg? if not you should try them they are better than any other rpgs ^^

  • @Wolfsblut51015 I do play Jrpgs, I love them!

  • Well It's true. The Xbox360/PS3 era was bad for JRPG. I can count few good titles: Valkyria Chronicles (which is not even a real RPG but I put it in for it's anime style.) Tales of Vesperia, Tales of Graces, eternal Sonate, Ar Tonelico... is the few which have some interesting story or gameplay. The rest are mostly overblown fan service.

  • @imthebadguys

Tales of Vesperia is one of my favorites. The Japanese basically killed any chance of JRPGs on the Xbox360, the games just don't sell on system in Japan. So, people like me in NA get screwed over when new JRPGs either don't come to the West or just don't get a release on the Xbox360. Not a total loss though, majority of JRPGs that have come out in the last 5-6 have been utter garbage for the most part.

  • @ReinbachThe3rd Well the Japanese got Nationalistism (sorry if the word I say means something else, I'm not good at english) and the PS3 was made by a Japanese company: Sony. So natually they love it. Also that red ring the first model of Xbox 360 really put off a lot of people.

I'm not trying to set up a flame war. I'm just saying if you love J-RPG, the PS3 seems to be the better choice due to the number of J-RPG it got. And the recent draught of J-RPG, not many good and revolutionary game.

  • Glad that there are some new jrpgs in development.

  • Predicting Persona 5 and Final Fantasy XV at E3 this year.

  • @DLTDawnlight I highly doubt Final Fantasy XV will be announced. Fabula Nova Crystallis isn't finished yet, Kitase has already expressed a lot of interest in dabbling in remaking classics, and if anything, Versus, the possible TYPE-0 sequels and everything beyond that have somewhat impeded the progress of the series altogether.

As for Persona 5, ATLUS have already spoken out by saying they're "creating a numbered title". This could just as well be Shin Megami Tensei 5, which is far overdue.

  • Any one else disappointed that Rorona is in her kid form not in her 20's or 30's?

I was so looking forward to seeing the ADULT Rorona =(

  • @ashunxryo1

The sad part is that there was a japanese poll asking players if they wanted a 30yr old Rorona or a loli Rorona, the 30yr old one won and yet the loli version was still kept.

  • sick game man this game will probably be on the next batch of consoles.

  • Yea, that game looks import worthy...but not being able to understand it may ruin the experience.

  • Anime... Aw YEAH!

  • Coooooooooool..... a new .hack game... (Drool) As for Atelier Meruru, I might as well get that so I can finish the story since I already beat Rorona and Totori... LOL

  • Toki to towa.. instant wait list, hoping for europe release.

  • the toki game is pretty sweet looking

  • As much as I want Toki no Tawa to get a localization, it wouldn't surprise me if it didn't. however I got all my north american anime style games all pre-ordered and good to go for the first three months.

  • I look forward to Toki to Towa the artstyle looks amazing

  • great news ShadowElite08

  • @AnoHeartedBeing Thanks

  • Toki To Towa... Localization please...

Looks gorgeous... If there's no localization, that could very well be the first game I ever import. Time to brush up on my Japanese!

  • @BackFromPurgatory Heard that! I will import the game with the quickness lol

  • I´m looking foward to a next Hack game and I hope Atelier Meruru to be better than the 2 last games, I also hope Toki To Towa to be released in America it looks like a great game!

  • Atelier Meruru looks interesting to me as an Atelier-fan. I agree that Rorona and Totori didn't look like much, but Meruru seems different... I don't know what it is, but it does.

Also, Toki no Tawa looks FREAKING AMAZING. I have never ever seen that before.

    You think they'll localize it..?

  • @OmegaMetroid93 Idk man I would love to see it localized but this is Namco Bandai where talking about so don't set your hopes too high lol.

  • @OmegaMetroid93 What's so "amazing" about Toki no Towa? In fact, it looks horribly like about any given fanservice bullcrap they are trying to call "classic JRPG" these days. No offense, but it looks... horrible.

I agree though that Meruru looks different. I honestly don't love the whole "sexualize 10-year old characters" turn of style for the series, but whereas the art style made the game nearly unplayable for someone with aesthetic studies, they were really, really fun to play.

  • @RebornAleph Idk how you could say it looks horrible but we all have own opinions on the matter. Anyway, if you look at the screenshot at 1:37. That's gameplay. Imagine how that would look in full motion. I'm not really caring about fanservice, story or characters here. I'm caring about what could be a completely different style of battle system.

  • @ShadowElite08 I think it looks horrible because I grew up playing deep, profound and intelectual RPGs. No, I don't find sexualization as a marketing stunt as "good".

That's not gameplay, by the way. It's a screenshot from a prerendered anime cutscene with a real-time 3D background rendering, a lá Tales of Vesperia. Not that unique at all.

And, how can you NOT care about Story or Characters? Why else would you even bother to play RPGs? That's the focus of RPGs altogether.

  • @RebornAleph Dude, idk where your seeing sexualization in those screenshots. There are plenty of other games that have sexulization, Compared to Ar Tonelico and Agarest War games this game seems very much tamed. And was talking about Toki to Towa... How can I gauge story and characters from just screenshots? Of course I think story and characters are part of a great RPG but for what I'm seeing for THIS game so far is what could be the battle system is what has me hyped.

  • @ShadowElite08 Dyme-a-dozen, so to speak. Just yet another pretty chick with a weapon. Make a guy that will sound new and fresh, a tough chick that sounds realistic (not that "I've been fighting my entire life, but I still weigh little over 30 kilos" bullshit) or a new concept of protagonist, and I'll find it a worthy JRPG.

'Til then, it's just pretty graphics. Final Fantasy XIII proved well enough that "pretty graphics" don't make a game good.

  • @ShadowElite08 Besides, I don't get what you're getting at. You're questioning why I feel the game is sexualized from screenshots, while you're overhyped for a game only through screenshots that may not even be that revealing to begin with? Wut?

That said, Ar Tonelico was the perfect game to ridicule and humiliate the japanophile otaku JRPG crowd. Persona 4, for instance, literally makes fun of otaku, and they still play it obliviously like the morons they are, never understanding it.

  • @RebornAleph Your saying that the game is sexualized by the images, And i say games like Ar Tonelico have been worse in that regard. And really there's no cleavage or ass shot in those pics. I dont see the game sexualized in any sense. And come on you look at an image for a game you can pretty much take a educated guess in what the gameplay is but can't really make that call in story or characters. Either way, the game will have trailer released next week. We'll see what's up with it then.

  • @ShadowElite08 In fact, they haven't. Look at Ar Tonelico. No, really. The characters barely show cleavage, there's literally no ass-shots due to the game's graphical limitations. The game hints at sexuality too often, but nothing really ever happens.

In this picture alone I can see the tendency to showcase females. Since, well, there's only females in the images, with somewhat revealing clothing and knee-high socks - a common trademark of the Ecchi JRPG genre.

    But you're right, we'll see.

  • @RebornAleph Errr.... which Ar Tonelico are you talking about??? In AT1 and AT2 you get those 2D sexy costumes and in AT3 (ot Ar Tonelico Qoga) you get that purge system which strip girls down to their undies while they pose.

Seeing the screenshots I think this game definetly worth checking out. Of course a bit of fan service is always nice. Just don't over do it.

  • @imthebadguys Haha, I know. AT are very, very sexualized in some concepts. But I was referring to comercial art and concept art. Not about gameplay.

And I agree. I don't mind a bit of fanservice. It's typical of the Japanese RPG genre, and it kind of became intrinsic to it. In a way, it's always been there anyway. But when it's overdone, it kind of blurs the line between what could have been a really great game, and a game that's made specifically for fanservice, y'know?

  • @RebornAleph Oh and if I thought in anyway that the game looked anything like Tales of Vesperia I wouldnt be so hyped for the game...

  • @RebornAleph: You're not the only one who grew up with those kinds of games.

You're acting as if both the story and characters will be crap, even though we haven't seen ANYTHING yet, other than those few screenshots. Seriously...

  • @OmegaMetroid93 Y'know what? You're right. I am kind of overdoing it. I guess I'm just judging the game too soon. My opinion is being driven mostly by the patterns in the industry as of late - especially the PS3/Xbox360 era. 9 out of 10 JRPGs were mostly about excessive fanservice, and it kind of destroyed my hope that one will come to break out of that genre.

We'll see. If anything, I can assure you that I would absolutely love to be proven wrong if it meant getting a beautiful RPG.

  • @RebornAleph: Yeah, so would I. And honestly, I haven't played many JRPGs on the PS3/360 so I wouldn't know how many are garbage or not. :P

  • @OmegaMetroid93 My wife continuously makes fun of me for it.

Just looking over there, Neptune 2 is absolutely shameless and it's pretty much kiddy porn, no need to even explain Ar Tonelico 3, Cross-Edge's only kind of player reward are revealing outfits to the already scantily-clad females, Agarest 2's "special cutscenes" are basically softcore porn (no, seriously. Youtube them), Atelier Totori actually expects me to find a 10-year old girl in boy-shorts and knee-high socks sexy, I mean...

  • @RebornAleph: Ah yeah. Never played any of those. :P

The most recent JRPG for the PS3 I played was Eternal Sonata which I really enjoyed. Never beat it though, sadly. The latest JRPG I beat in general was Xenoblade Chronicles which was absolutely fantastic! If you haven't tried that, I recommend those a lot.

  • @OmegaMetroid93 I own both (PS3 and X360) versions of Eternal Sonata. I enjoyed it very, very much. I'm a musician, so it was to be expected, eh? One of the few great JRPGs of the last years, for sure.

I'm European, so I got Xenoblade a while ago. But, my wife is still working on getting it aced, so I'm not allowed near the Wii until she does. (Not even for Monster Hunter -,-). But if it's as good as Xenogears or Xenosaga, I know I'll love it.
