  • wts with his voice? he can sing better than u me and anyone here.

  • B E S T V O C A L I S T E V E R

  • Thats how his voice sounds now.

  • this is on their new live album, sweet.

  • I love love love Chris Cornell's Voice

  • um..cornell never had surgery, he picked up a vocal coach before euphoria morning because he had to learn how to sing his songs instead of scream them, the translation went well, until he started roaring in audioslave, "btw his voice is the same in euphoria as in slaves first album" since slave hes regained his falshetto and has used that to imitate his old songs,..its been good, he still hits some crazy notes

  • i didnt know he could hit those notes in 96 but about the voice thing, yea he had some major issues in the middle of superunknown tour, probably june or july 94. i've read that he lost a bit of his range back then.

  • he only had issues cause he sang a lot. 3 hours a night 3 days a week over 150 gigs 200 a year traveling. of course hes gonna have shit shows but ive seen him 20 times always fuckin good. better now than here

  • amen to that bowie

  • If any of you "surgery" debaters have sang for a live band you'd know it's effing hard! Check out my band from the seattle grunge days. Search "Saturn Lander".

  • 4:25, I wasn't expecting that from him in '96, awesome scream

  • i thought he lost his voice after 94, but i guess i was wrong

  • he did...he went through surgery and rested his voice for a few months, after cancelling more than half of some international tour they had at the time.

  • No he didn't. He has never had any surgery. Get your facts straight.

  • Yes he did. After the SuperUnknown tour he said his voice didn't feel right and some voice doctor told him that he really strained his voice and required surgery so it wouldn't become perminently damaged.

  • And? Even if this happened, that doesn't mean he HAD the surgery. Post a reference to him saying that he had surgery.

  • Seriously how fucking dumb are people? Cornell has never had surgery on his chords. It was a joke to see who were the fools. Guess we found them..

  • Comment removed

  • Actually he has, after the Superunknown tour. Guess whos the fool now?!

  • Well I'm still waiting for some evidence other than heresay and internet gossip.

  • Surgery? Get real. What exactly would he have had surgery for? Being too awesome?

In all honesty, it's obvious his voice doesn't sound the same as it did 15 years ago. But it's also obvious that it sounds a lot better than it did 5 years ago. So I don't know what he'll sound like 2 years from now, but it sounds like his voice is picking up the pieces. We'll just have to see the extent. In any case, Cornell fucking rocks.

  • I'm on your side. I said that the surgery rumour was bullshit. Re-read my comment.

  • Yea, I was replying to some other idiot who said he did have the surgery. Either toadsnmarshmellows or arnaud, I think.

  • @PosFlow don't get touchy about it, it's quite common for rock singer to have surgery

  • Maybe I replied under your name by mistake...

  • @PosFlow singers*

  • @artisthespoonman most professional rock singers have had some sort of vocal surgery, I mean c'mon mate, what do you think his vocal chords are made of, steal? :P of course he had surgery, just listen to the way he was singing, it even sounds (awesome but) damaging, it's not like a sin to have surgery :P what's your problem with it :P

  • he had surgery because he ruptured his chords I mean, you can't sing at the top of your range constantly and not damage them really x

  • Cornell's guitar is tinny, as in every time they play the teles.

  • I wanna see cornell play an electric again

  • my god..

    this song is something else

i didn't think it was possible to sing this live until now

  • you should see him sing it when the song first came out.. it was intense

  • Fuckin decent, even in 96.

Its too bad, ill probably never get to hear that voice live.

  • I've seen early Cornell live circa '89 - shit was awesome live, even better then the original recordings!

  • yeah. i wish his louder vocals still sounded like this today. his voice had already changed a little here, but his ability was virtually intact. while we're fantasizing, i wish he had also been the guy jimmy page, john paul jones, and jason bonham picked to be pseudo-zeppelin's vocalist, but only if he still sounded like he did twelve years ago.

yeah, i'm obsessed with the guy's voice.

  • @shadowofmorgoth For good f-ing reason. Ultramega OK and before that is just inhuman; Louder Than Love is still ridiculous; Badmotorfinger is the same range with even more kickass-ness, and grungier; Superunknown is almost as good with more mature melodies; Down on the Upside is really smart songwriting with still amazing vocals. Even his solo stuff and Audioslave are incredibly impressive vocally (not to mention his continued fantastic songwriting).

  • good performance , but ive heard better versons of slaves 9/10

  • timekillerinher, i'm not bein a smart alleck, but this is the best version i've heard as of vocals, so if you know a better one on youtube, please tell me.

  • i would have to say the motorvision version of slaves and bulldozers tops this one-but that's just my opinion.

  • Yep, i agree,

    Motorvision version is INSANE,

    just INSANE

Cornell singing the intro of Alive (Pearl Jam song) and the "Jesus is my friend" part, hahaha,

    just INSANE!

  • theres the argentina concert he did last year..sounds better than this...vocally that is...
