  • DANCE, YOU HILLBILLY MOTHERFUCKERS!!! FUCKIN LIVE LIFE!!! SWEAT OFF THOSE CHEESEBURGERS!

  • OH BUT THE ENDING FUCKING RULED! AND THOSE FUCKING HILLBILLIES ARE JUST STANDING THERE LIKE A BUNCH OF HEARTLESS HICKS. HIICKS!!

  • God, that's painful. i don't blame him for not wanting to play anymore.

  • I've had to do that shit, where the mic won't stop feeding back unless you leave it pressed to your mouth for the whole set. It...really sucks. Especially when you're playing to a room full of people who have perhaps never heard you. Or if you're trying to have fun. But hey, Ariel, you're huge now and all the dickweeds in the audience/the sound guy..isn't. Aren't.

  • the cd belonging to the dude that posted the video sucks donkey sack. i thought it would, seeing as his description of the video is extremely faggy and in essence feels as though it were written by an 11 year old girl.

  • holyshit, the dickwad editing was so unexpected and so hilarious i almost vomitted in laftre

  • @Obsure128 -hahahahahahahaha. Lets see in 10 or 20 years who the better composer is. Your views are apparently bias as you are busy swallowing all the vital juices Pinky has to spew. He has something but lets not make a star out of a zit hill.

  • the crowd is too stupid to understand the difference. ahhhh....such is the plight of an artist. the sad part is that a creative force like ariel pink would ever have to play for a bunch of asshats that don't care what they're listening to.

yeah, the crowd sucks, but they usually do.

  • lol at the deathstare 8:13

  • ariel definitely reminds me of bowie. i think it's his songwriting and vocal tones, especially when he's going deeper. i could've sworn bowie was guesting on "little wig" first time i heard it

  • @Obscure128 ive seen bowie in his best earlier years w spiders from mars. i feel sorry for the youth

who honestly believe these two artist are comparable. Bowie had perfect pitch and an enormous vocal range along with immense musical talent. if you werent tone def you could here that even with all the digital tech Ariel uses he still cant sing on key. not that he cares. but bowie was a perfectionist and would never act like a fucking diva most of the time. get off the krank Pinkyboy-we'll talk

  • @mizzrubble Ariel doesn't use digital tech, all his albums but one are recorded on 8 track, see you don't even know what you're talking about. Bowie is great, but having perfect pitch has nothing to do with making good music. Ariel's compositional ability (which by far triumphs bowies) that shines through his less than stellar technique is what we love about him, also his voice is full of unique character that adds a lot. Bowie also made heaps of shit after his first albums. Ariel has yet to.

  • personally i wouldve payed 100$ to see this one song. considering it's my favorite though...

  • Ariel, You look and sounded like shit. get off the fucking drugs. Im not gonna kiss your ass into the grace. I want you healty vital and happy. YOU did not look happy my friend. Miss you guys!

  • cool filming bro

  • Everything about this footage is amazing. This is what makes Ariel more important than the majority of musicians out there. What is commonly seen as professionalism is completely non-existent at his shows. Fuck professionalism.

He's feeling something and he's letting us know. This is way everything should be.

Aside from that, I also disagree with all these comments. I think the way you shot it on the editing is very fitting. And the crowd seems fine too. Lots of cute girls.

  • The song is called "Envelopes Another Day"

  • i dunno if anyone else remembers, but this show was actually at Cafe Annapurna, not Ali Baba's...

it's definitely unfortunate to deal with crappy PA systems and venues that shouldn't be hosting such a well-known artist to begin with, but as professionals, the band should've had some sort of a backup plan. for the drummer to say that "they're just slaves of entertainment" and telling the audience to "entertain him instead" is totally disrespectful. Enjoy listening to the record at home instead!

  • 6:40 this dude called ariel before the show so they could coordinate shirts

  • Yeah, that's one crappy club .. where is this?

  • THe editing on dickwad is retarded, stupid, lame ...etc

  • Wow look - retarded little Johnny just got his first video camera

  • He was completely justified in being so upset. It sounded like they were singing through someone's basement karaoke machine. In hindsight, they should have just said, "Fuck It!", and made some serious noise!

  • I love Ariel. I wish I could see him live.

  • ariel remind anyone else of bowie? *shrugs* def not a bad thing

  • @y3ll0wsubs of course he reminds you of bowie. hes ariellllll pink.

  • what's the song that starts around 1:50?

  • this is upsetting

  • What song is this?

  • What song is this?

  • ive been listening to ariel since 05 and only this year did it come to my attention he is taking this on the road....why. APHG is about catching lightning in a bottle. he records the same section over and over till its perfect and then moves on. its linear, pain-staking and lo-fi. of course it sucks live. certainly the project is whatever he wants it to be but it should be no mystery why it can't be captured in any way that compliments the recordings when performed live.

  • wow who evers using the camera should be euthenized

  • Comment removed

  • what an annoying crowd

  • fuck! stop shaking the camera like that! why? i'd get really upset if i performed for you

  • holy shit what song is that at the end?

  • @crisponsglove Ghost Town

  • Haunted Graffiti was one of the best bands I've ever seen. Everything sounded perfect... unfortunately there were a lot of douchebags in the audience, just like in this video.

  • The sound sweets him.. El sonido le queda muy bien a Ariel.

  • the P.A sucked...i'd be pissed too. that feedback was incredibly annoying.

  • you know, when your dealing with ariel pink fans, you'd figure less-than-optimal equipment wouldn't hinder the show much. Case in point: Ariel seemed to be more concerned about the mess than everyone one else.

That only spells good things for both sides.

  • Aww!! ariel is such a sweetheart. I wanna give him hugs and kisses. Too bad I'm a dude

  • don't let it stop you show him some luuuuv! <3

  • No way man. I'm a singer and when you have a mic in your hand that is whistling like that, and in front of a roomfull of fans cheering you on to continue...it just...sucks worse than anything. Is there a sound guy? He should be shot. If they don't have a sound guy, then they really need to get a soundguy or get their shit together, because AP's recordings are too great and the shows should compliment them(the recordings) in a good way. And stop drinking, Ariel, and your karma will inprove

  • i mean it has a lot to do with that it was cleary diy show and that he purposely uses pretty low quality gear to get that sound. anyway, whatever

  • in the grreeattt silence i locked your love this thiNG IS BROKENN!!! its broken, broken silence

  • i love this version of envelopes another day, the guitar is amazing

  • I f'*in hate shitty PA systems! I prolly woulda finished the show, though. I just hate it when people roll up with their rig, and it's this horrible sounding thing, you can't even discern lyrics!

the band is sounding great, here

  • I enjoy Ariel Pink's tunes, but I don't understand why many of his fans are convinced he's a genius. He just seems like a quirky and inventive songwriter to me. Could someone shed some light on this for me?

  • i think many of his fans who claim he's a genius might be attracted to him for reasons other than the music.

he's a long hair/don't care slacker with enigmatic lyrics and beautiful catchy songs. it's easy to let your imagination fill in the blanks with ariel pink.

not to denounce his genius, or anything. he's incredible.

  • lol cant help you ther, im pretty convinced myself

  • Priceless...

  • Give Ariel some credit. You really think someone as talented and as egomaniacal as him would let any musician control him? It's fairly clear in this clip that the drummer is not the one forcing Ariel to do all the whining about the sound that he's doing so what are you talking about? Plus this drummer wasn't even on the latest tour they just went on with Vivian Girls, it was some other dude,so get up to date with your genius comments. Plus the band sounds amazing in this clip so shut up jizzboy

  • what about the audience? they are behaving like little bitches as much as anyone in this vid and I suspect that you feel the way you do because you were one of those little bitches as you said. at least the band seem like they are trying to figure out a solution to the problem. they offer the audience their money back and attempt to move the show to a better location so quit your idiotic commentary and leave ariel and his very talented band alone. they work hard for the money like donna summer

  • I'm sorry

  • Comment removed

  • what song is this?

    me likey

  • which oney bitch?

  • it's a goddamn indian restaurant, not a club. plug the mic in an amp and shut up! That being said, I've had this happen many times while playing shows at unconventional "venues" - it's kinda like a double edged sword because in one sense, it allows for interesting shows that bigger venues w/ better sound systems and a bottom line don't wanna book.

  • he he i love him and his ego.....

  • define "better". it was obviously not the way he wanted it to sound.

  • Ariel realizes that his *sound* has been compromised with the addition of a backing band. I've seen his solo shows, ya know with the 8 track and a bag of tapes. I personally like that, but now there are expectations on his live sets, and personally they just aren't the same as his records(how can they be?), he knows this and its gotta be a bummed out feeling. I hope very much he *does not* include the backing band in the studio. Good luck mr. Rosenberg

  • You're the kind of dickwad his "slaves" comment was probably directed at. The kind of douchebag who goes to a show to yell at artists to shut up and play when they're trying to fix horrendous sound problems because they care about putting on a good sounding show for their fans. Anyone who heckles bands and tells them to shut up and play and thinks that bands owe them something just for showing up is a prick. If you act respectfully then maybe they do owe you something. If not, tough shit.

  • Wow... how presumptuous of you. heckling a band a dickwad move. but. As I watched it occurred to me that a drummer assuming the audience thinks they are "slaves" if just as uncool, The crowd was not assuming a slave/master type thing between them the band.

Everything you said was really obvious, People who yell at shows are pricks & Db's. Bands care too etc. Good job at turning conv. wisdom into an offensive statement directed at someone you don't even know.

Way-to-go with your 1st post ever!!

  • by far the best singer musician of his time,

    he puts on the show..

  • the funny thing is when he first started touring he was very temprametal. i saw him on a good day but i heard about his show on a bad day this is about 3 years back. he is a very nice guy in real life. bit drugged out. but nice

  • Wow everyone on this video is a cunt. Shut up while they're playing.

  • yeh, i agree. calling them cunts is a bit strong though.

  • not so . . .

  • the fun

    is done

  • i saw this guy in austin 4 years ago. it was just him and some keyboards and he farted around. now he has a crack band, i saw him earlier this year and it was impeccable. his live show has really become spectacular

  • primadonna. what do you expect from a restaurant lobby?

  • i'd be pissed too. the songs called envelopes another day not anoying ass feedback.

  • hahaha i would have helped the band riot! YEAHHHH!!!!!!!!FUCK YEAH I WANT MY MONEY BACK!

  • i've been to a lot of shows where the sound quality is bad and the singers get upset. it sucks, but they can't always expect perfection. If the crowd is happy, thats all that matters.

  • that isnt al that matters. an artist wants to be satisfied with their artwork

  • crowd were assholes. but if u notice the girl in the back video taping ariel throughout the first song, shes the singer of Chairlift, who sings in that new itunes song haha!

  • ugh! that made my tummy hurt. too much shaking. :(

  • Very cool!

  • Groovy!! =P

  • lmao what an intimate show, and an angsty singer! GREAT colors !!
