Opie and Anthony: Brian Regan on O&A Part 1

For some reason clean comics aren't as funny to me because it feels like they're restrained somehow. like there are some topics that you know they would have good material on, but they just can't go there. but maybe its just because I like dick jokes.

Also, are there any clean comics who work blue when it is appropriate or when they can get away with it? When Regan is on Opie and Anthony there's nothing stopping him from talking about pinksocking and doody hats, but would that harm his career?

Brian Reagan is a funny guy, but he's too pro government regulation/hierarchy whatever...when he goes into that it's just a bummer...f.ex Carlin ripped structure and hierarchy to pieces, being kind of a modern day court jester who poked fun at authority, not the people being too stupid to abide by authority...kind of misses the whole point

brian really hates being classified as a "clean" comedian like its some kind of gimmick. he actually has a bunch of dirty stuff that he cant tell anybody. he even said in an interview that he wants to do a show with a big "FUCK" shirt and "FUCK" hat with a giant "FUCK" in the background and do nothing but his cleanest material

stupid people think that 'dirty' comedians arent funny and that anyone can get a laugh with those words- you do it then. you have shit damn and fuck. make me laugh

It's not that those words are funny; it's that those words make a harder punchline. The content is perceived to be funnier and heavier when an expletive is thrown in, which makes Brian Regan even funnier - to not use those words and still have an expertly-crafted punch.

@WorldWalker11 they arent magic. you cant just say "why'd the goddam chicken cross the fuckin road" or something. some things just need that raw and realistic language. if someone like louis ck was clean 100% of the time he would blow. inversely if brian added an x-rated adjective to ANY of his bits they just wouldnt work.

the live stuff is always different than the stuff you see on TV. There are a couple of things thrown in that people are familiar with but mostly it's all stuff I've never heard. And I've been a fan since the "Pair Of Jokers" special he did with his brother many moons ago.
