  • I love Clapton, Mike Bloomfield, Mick Taylor and Jimmy Page, Duane but honestly, to me, they couldn't sing (at least then - and Clapton started singing in 1970 anyway and never he's never been that great), and they just couldn't pull out such smart lyrics and emotional solos as Peter could with that killer dynamic playing and tone he had. Some of my favorites are Black Magic Woman & Jumping at Shadows from Boston Tea Party 3 and If You Be My Baby & Need Your Love So Bad from Live at the Shrine.

  • I Love Peter Green so much I'd fuck him!!!...

  • Fantastic love it. Thanks for the share Paul.

  • Always loved early Fleetwood Mac! Love Peter Green!

  • Ha, you can't even see the red on the 'like' bar. Yes Bitchessss

  • This is only pretty good to me. I'll never understand why Green is more liked than Mike Bloomfield. Nobody gives Bloomfield the credit he deserves. Nobody digs it i guess.

  • @cameltooth1 - "This is only pretty good to me." Really?

  • @beowulf3075 Doesn't hit me the same way other bands can. Maybe with time I will love this. This is certainly better than anything I've ever heard in modern music.

  • heavy duty!

  • Ahh great ! And I love the way you present the welcome page of your channel : beautiful as always !

  • 16 Justin Beiber fans must have accidentally pulled this up!Brilliant blend of blues and rock in the early years.

  • "Killer clip showing the emotion of the best white blues guitarist ever!!",

you can take the "white" AND "blues" out of that description for me!.

  • danny, danny has broken a string, so while he puts it on, i'm going to do a thing that i haven't done for a long long time, which is a, um solo number.

  • WONDERFUL!! thanks for sharing, someone knows which amps is PG using ??

  • @dirtyTony666 LOL, I just looked that up yesterday, and found out...the second I finshed reading your comment, I forgot!

  • @PBANDSNOW LOL

  • @dirtyTony666 He used matamps - they called them Orange but were made by a chap called Matt Mattheus. The company still exists in Huddersfield. They have reproduced the original Matamap series 2000 which Peter used along with a matamp reverb unit. Killer amps - I had one once.

  • best white bluesman of all time check out rattlesnake shake

  • 1. Best Blues guitarist ever? Don't forget Gary Moore!

    2. Does anyone understand what he sais in the beginning, apart from "mumble mumble mumble"? Worse than Ozzy Osbourne on stage ;)

    Still:

Great song, great band, great guitarist!

  • He says something to the effect of "Danny has broken a string so while he puts it on, I am going to a thing, A Long Long Time, which is a solo number"

  • @caug

I guess it is "I am going to do a thing I didn't do for a long long time, which is a solo number" then. Thanks!

  • I want my car wrapped in a peter green picture...then maybe some bumber stickers..

  • You don't have to be whyte to know the blues.

  • @itsnotinthisbox I share your sentiments man, but being slightly eccentric is one thing, being mentally-ill is another. I don't know the full story with Danny, but as far as I've read he's in bad shape.

  • why did they quit the blues? Man how can you quit the blues. I want to quit the blues for years. But the blues just got a hold on me.

  • One of the best bluesmen in the world........real music!

  • What year?

  • What an amazing song ! Especially for today.

  • louder!

  • white man with sole and blues i am and always will be a Gary Moore Fann very closly linked with peter but i agree he is by far a leader of the flock clas pure class and by an english Man wow

  • The real "King of the Blues!" In both voice and guitar, Peter Green stands atop of the summit. There are many, many in his brethren, but the "Green God" is the leader of the flock. So, let it be written...

  • That voice, that guitar !!! Awesome - Peter was the greatest bluesman ever :D

  • does anyone know if there is a dvd or video of the whole concert? i can only find the two songs world keep on turning and like it this way,, does anyone if the whole concert was released???

  • AMAZING. Green God. BTW the 14 dislikes came from the (Institute of the Hearing Impaired)

  • Obviously the 14 Dislikers were expecting Stevie Nicks. Poor bastards...they should have stayed and listened to one of the greats. Love to ya, Peter! May your mind be at peace.

  • @rpmhart - Mmmm - This clip is one of the all time greats, imho !

  • One thing we can learn from bands like fleetwood mac, the who and the stones is to never keep going after a member dies. Even if it's just a drummer.

  • @fearghal10 ??? what??? explain

  • Was watching "oh well" a min ago and the blond guitarist is playing lead, freakin sounds so raw and dirty!! anyone know who he is? or where he is?

  • @TheZayne34 - Pretty sure you mean Danny Kirwin, believe he is still around playing.

  • @TheZayne34 thats danny kirwan and I think he's leavin on the streets or something, look him up, think he went a bit crazy like peter...

  • the second guitar player breaks a string, and Green gets up and does a killer solo blues. And 13 assholes dis like this.

  • @rootboyslim - I can only imagine that they were expecting the MOR Fleetwood Mac, not this absolute piece of soulful brilliance. 13 knobheads.

  • @beowulf3075 thumbs up

  • @beowulf3075 thumbs up to that!

  • @rootboyslim more thumbs up!

  • 13 people have ear AIDs...

  • Fuck, this is so good!

  • 13 people thought they were going to see soap opera clips...

  • im in complete awe... peter green is my favorite guitarplayer and singer of all time. He makes everyday life more bearable

  • One man,one guitar,and a blue blue soul.

  • Goosebumps on my goosebumps!

  • @jjaywill - mmmm, know what you mean, doesn't get much better than this. So much emotion and so much music.

  • every failed band had it yoko ono

  • whoa this sounds nothing like the fleetwood mac my parents raised me on! haha i prefer this fleetwood mac!

  • @Anim8edDeath

    That's child abuse!

  • Very cool a little blues with an almost zeppelin sound. awesome

  • 'I need her like the sky needs the sun ...' .... Such a beautiful line - sung by a beautiful guy - and I mean 'beautiful'! He was gorgeous! No one seems to have mentioned that . . .

  • Gee Danny broke a string so I'm just gonna rip into the first song that comes to mind and play it perfectly! This cat could lay down a Les Paul like nobody!

  • some on tell me were to buy or download the freaking dvd i would murder just to touch it !

  • A bad acid trip ended this band check the history, not Stevie Nicks. Read a book.

  • this is about as good as it gets

    music wise

    on this planet

  • I doubt there is a live album of this performance but is there a studio version of this song and if so, what album is it on?

  • @mynewjamsandwich - it's on the 'Fleetwood Mac' album -the one with the dustbin on the front.

  • @chinatree1

    Thanks man

  • genius one of my top 5 guitarists

  • @Psilocybe85 how you have 17 thumbs is beyond me. The now infamous trip to Munich ruined this great band, because without Peter Green, the heart of the band was lost.

The following incarnations of Fleetwood Mac merit respect by the fact that they kept this band on top, albeit in a different vein, but none the less equally successfully. They regrouped following the loss of Peter Green to assault the music charts again! Fair play.

  • Never saw this before. Never saw this side of Fleetwood Mac, damn! Kicks ass.

  • this si for you gary moore if you rock in peace the world will keep on turning

  • I'm falling in love with music all over again! Wow! My favorite listenings right now are Mike Bloomfield and Super Sessions/Electric Flag, and the band that I didn't know existed before their "lame stage" Fleetwood Mac...I'm in love!!!

  • only ever proper blues band from this coutry with the legendry peter green

  • really a Killer Clip

  • i defy anybody to convince me that this guy wasnt the greatest guitarist ever

  • Seriously. Who the fuck would "dislike" this?

  • @greenfruitface People with no soul.

  • @greenfruitface Buckingham for one

  • Fucking. Amazing. This blows the Live at the BBC version away. Is this available on DVD?!!

  • @HumblePie76 This version is on the Fleetwood Mac: The Early Years DVD, it can be very pricey sometimes, like £100, but I managed to pick it up for £20-£30 a couple months ago on Amazon. If you try Amazon.com you might be able to import it for around the same price I paid, seems to be cheaper in the states. I love neilus's comment below this as well :D

  • amazing...and i love the fact its "oh dannys bust a string hmmmm what can i do"...well, if your a fucking genius like you were Peter, you do this...

  • man got soul

  • The master at work!..... and the twelve thumbs down must be tone deaf or x factor devotees!!

  • Thank you for giving me this, I literally frequent this vid every other week. Peter Green is, by far, King of Les Paul tone (flipped his bridge pick up) and a beautiful tortured soul.

  • Green is god

  • I met Peter Green once and asked him for his favorite tune he has played. He told me: this one!

    Just an awesome clip!

  • if the previous artists didn't lay down themselves to be interpreted by new spirits free to follow their own light, we all might be singing kumbaya in a roman catholic 18th century drone. not that pipe organs aren't cool. IT'S ALL GOOOD

  • world class

  • ELECTRIC'S GUITAR HEAVEN!!

  • Fabulous, like most early Fleetwood Mac. But to know where it comes from, go to John Lee Hooker, Hobo Blues.

Of course at the time, hardly anybody in Europe, and even in the US, had heard of John Lee Hooker.

  • @avalokitesvara yes, Johny Lee Hooker and other blues greats were his influences, but Peter Green, much like Page would make the classics come alive and do them their way. I feel Page was most likely the greatest Riff maker in the history of music. when you consider Led Zeppelin 1-4 was 68-71. I know Page stole a lot of old covers but he did do them his way. Peter Green did a lot of blues covers too, his way. he never took credit for them though, and he has influenced almost as many.a True great

  • This is world class- I have listened to this, over and over, for decades.

    It is well worth it!!

  • What happened to this guy? Did he leave the band?

  • @RobAnderson0 some german clan took himfor a night , nobody knew what happend to him , obviously some sort of drug ruined his life and ruined music at the same time , german bastards !!

  • Peter Green was a genius,,,phenomenal, a gift...

  • what about paul kossof?????????

  • @breethebhoy fuck yeah man paul kossoff is amazing..time away part 2 jus rips my soul out and fly around the room..

  • Oh this works!

Worthless fighting who's better; it's from the gut. For instance, I don't think anyone could match SRV on "Texas Flood" for intricacy and mood.

Sure love how Peter and Danny - the most understated and unheard (in mass population) *sang* together - like Elvin with Michael, Betts/Duane A, and just a few. Wish Danny came back to jam with Peter. Wish there were a charity for Danny that's honest to give to.

  • Love it!

  • big pete in his heyday

  • Skydog I could kiss you for posting this and the brilliant guy who caught it on tape!!

  • Take it from B.B. King: " (Green) has the sweetest tone I ever heard; he was the only one who gave me the cold sweats. "

  • A perfect example of how drugs can fuck up the most talented people. At least Peter Green finally recovered his sanity and lived to see it, so many others didn't. God bless Peter Green, a real guitar hero!

  • Pete's eyes look so weary in this fantastic clip, and that comes across in the song.

A man with a great heart and soul and a lot of pain.

  • this is so good

  • God dam...this guy was so special. To do something this amazing off the cuff like this...incredible

  • PG...God love it we know him

  • why isnt this guy a better known musician? what the hell!

  • dont forget Al Kooper

  • Stunning distinctive voice and playing, looking forward to seeing him live next week!

  • Behold the master!

  • Who said white man can't sing the blues? 5,000,000*

  • You guys stop fighting! Of course Rory Gallagher (I LOVE HIM) , SRV, and a bunch of other guys are fantastic, but that doesn't make Peter Green any less so! Enjoy the beautiful music, gosh.

  • Peter Green is so awesome here. What an amazing talent and still is...

  • He is so fuckin great, makes me sick that he does not get any credit for anything.

  • Holy crap! What a player/singer this guy was. Killer tone and such incredible taste.

  • His guitar sounds sooooo good!

  • @Moistmuscle

That's cos the pickups in it are connected out of phase.

Legend has it, it happened by accident when he put his guitar back together wrongly one time & didn't realise because he was off his tits.

Anyway he loved the sound & stuck with it & the rest is history.

Nowadays many people (myself included) flip the bar magnet N - S in the neck pickup to achieve the same effect. It does sound fucking great.

Google "Peter Green neck pickup mod" & read all about it.

    :o)

  • Wow this is NOTHING like the fleetwood mac album i have. I was told im missing out on them and well I can believe it! But yeah if you can dig this go (like right now) and listen to mike bloomfield and rory gallagher. Uggyboy knows whats up, there just great

  • Its because stevie nicks ruined this band, only old fleetwood is good, without peter green its not worth listening to.

  • I really enjoyed this clip skydog, thanks. Some people insist in being pricks and starting pissing matches. To all the dissenters of Peter Green and the other great musicians mentioned, take a quarter and call someone who gives a shit. The no clue, no life gripers can all just get on their horses and ride out of town, i.e. f--- em' and the horses they rode in on.

  • if there is a holy guitar trinity, peter green is the holy spirit..!

  • Fuck - that was good.

  • why would you say clapton is better lol there both different and both brill

  • so go watch his vids and get the fuck outta here douche....

  • If this doesn't make you wanna pick up a guitar, grow a beard and get all Greeny, you've had it I'm afraid. One of the greatest from the greatest!

  • An excellent spontaneous solution to a hiatus on stage caused by a broken string. So professional to pull something like this out of the bag while Danny was changing the string. I have seen other groups tell audiences to"talk amongst themselves" in such situations, and retort that at least they were replacing a string when people complained. But this solution is much classier. Thanks for posting.

  • This is just amazing, The Green God.

  • Fantastic. He was too talented maybe. One can't stand too long in the light of the sun.

  • someone should sit shithouse simon cowell down infront of this

  • bro.. Popular music nowadays has no place for Musicianship, creativity, heart and soul, real music .....

  • @dickydom9 That is the best response EVER on youtube!

  • haha billy gibbons knicked this one for the intro to "brown sugar"

  • Thats cos its the blues u pilchard !!

  • this sounds a lot like a john lee hooker song

  • nicks came later - this version of the band ended because Peter lost his mind - too much acid :/

  • According to bassist John McVie, Peter was the victim of an acid-spiked drink- the most cruel and heartless 'party trick' one could play on someone.

  • the dude can play some GUITAR boys

why cant meat head bands of today play like this

  • because they are classless , cultureless slobs

  • lol!

  • Salvaje

  • Thank god that Danny's string broke here, otherwise we would never see this video.

  • stevie nicks ruined such a good band

  • amen brother

  • @Psilocybe85 thats right

  • @Psilocybe85 amen.

  • @Psilocybe85

    dumb

  • What a gem - thanks for posting this. Why does noone play with that kind of feeling today? What a master.

  • Hey - Peter Green does! Saw him last night in Exeter - awesome!!!

  • one of the most special talents to pick up the guitar. And I'm new to Mr Green.

  • The God was having so much fun at this show , it melts me, thank you for posting brilliant stuff

  • wow!!!

  • A king bastard of a performance.

  • @chrsitiethebarber to me he is the king. bigger then Elvis. unbelievable talent. i can't stop listening to his music...

  • @chrsitiethebarber He is the best. I first listened to PG a couple years ago and I listen to him all the time now. I can't describe it appropriately but I have been a music person my whole life - 42 years - but I can't stop listening to his songs. It cuddles my soul, it leaves me feeling heavenly.

  • Fantastic clip .... I will show this to everyone who wants to know why I have been a Peter Green fanatic for over forty years.

  • "She made my low down butter come":)

  • just absolutely amazing....

  • epic masterclass of voice and instrument and this solo clip only exists because danny broke a string...

all the greats listed on this page had supreme and god like technique.

peter went way beyond technique with a dark raw emotional power.

  • Sublime Artist unique and he could make the guitar weep,,,,,,,,,

  • For a white man, this guy really knew the blues.....

  • Heh try SRV, Rory Gallagher, Alan Wilson's Canned Heat, MIKE BLOOMFIELD and Johnny Winters...all fantastic white blues guitarists. Especially Bloomfield, one of the best blues guitarists ever.

  • I think Green smokes all of them. I love SRV, but he doesn't have the depth or dynamics of Green.

  • BB king said he once stated that you need to be black for blues, but that we failed to notice he wasn't...Bloomfield is from another plaanet. I'm not saying don't like Green, on the contrary!

Man were those the years for the blues and blues rock...Wish I was born a few decades earlier.

  • @skydog46 you guys ever heard of eric clapton?

  • @hipfan04 Clapton is not in the same league as Peter Green, the only one to come close is Bonamassa

  • @skydog46 They're both white and loved the blues. Isn't that where all similiarities end?

  • Try Roy Buchanan or Mick Taylor

  • @Uggybow ....All great, but Johnny's last name is Winter...no s.

  • @Uggybow Peter was better than any of those guys...easily. Especially Alan Wilson who played harp...and damned well! skydog is dead on with his assesment...those guys you mention don't have half the feel of Peter Green...nor does Hendrix.
