  • @ obamasucks2011

I ll give you that rap hasnt been on the leading edge of musicianship but, try to write 16 bars of words that not only rhyme but tell a story and make since. Oh and ride along a bed of music.

  • This was post-'Blow by Blow' and 'Wired', when so many guitarists wanted to 'do a Jeff Beck'. Schaffer is a wonderful player and has done some great stuff over the years. Too bad he's been hiding away in his homeland of Sweden for so many years. Hearing this again means I'll need to go dig out my Schaffer vinyls... It would've been nice if Schaffer was part of the Boz Scaggs band when Jeff was in there... he would've been a great fit, as this tune suggests.

  • Everything Jeff plays just grooves & fits the tune perfectly. Pure natural genius. Very heavy on so many levels

  • Boogie Down Productions:like a throttle(1992)

  • jeff porcaro was such a humble guy and he wasnt the fanciest drummer, but he is by far the most unique drummer of all time with some mean grooves to go with it. RIP jeff

  • @murdok620 .... I have been lucky enough to have heard and seen jeff in some situations where he was able to stretch out with his playing ... this idea that jeff wasnt " fancy " is wrong ... even though Jeff is known as one of the best , if not the best groove drummers of all time he definitely had his fair share of chops ... for example , his right foot was ridiculous , and some of his hi hat work could be very technical ... and then there is Roseanna ... nuff said

  • I loved the way music sounded back then. Even though technology today is a million times better than around 1973-1978, I wish stuff like this was still made.

Most music today is just godawful.

  • sooooo.. did Steve play on this album too?

  • man this great.jeff just kicks ass on this track i found this album last week and have been rockin out jeff was and will always be one of the best drummers of all time.

  • This is beautiful music!

    R.I.P. Jeff :(

  • ==>JanSchaffer: What do you mean by: " Joe is the dad of Jeff and Mike. " , considering the text above: " In 1978 swedish guitarist Janne Schaffer teamed up with Jeff Porcaro + Joe Mike & Steve to produce some funky tracks for his solo album Earmeal. " ? Maybe you for simply forgot a " , " after "Joe"? In general, this music sounds like Electric Banana Band...small wonder.
  • @Burqua12 Joe is a percussionist ,father of Jeff ,Steve and Mike Porcaro...

  • Brilliant stuff... RIP Jeff, still missed 4 ever : (

  • @robariens

He was just a drummer boy.

    Janne.S is/was the star more here. DON´T 4get.......

  • well, who can play that on the studio??No solo's just groove. This is drumming...

  • mullet on :34

  • Why the hell have I never heard of this album?!? I have to find it by accident on Youtube? This is awesomeness!

  • That is the problem with American record companies! We always miss something cool like this!

  • 2 masters. wonderful

  • Actually. it IS too late for Jeff, sadly.

    I love this song.

  • will never get tired of this tune!

  • Choon!

Earmeal is an underrated classic, a mon avis....

  • wow funky beat, jeff was an amazing drummer!! Still missed today, what a craftmanship and he plays with such great feeling, i rarely hear nowdays!!

  • we miss u jeff....

  • Jeff was one of the most original and talented drummers to come along in a very long time. He was always self-effacing about his abilities, saying his timing always used to suck. I wish my timing sucked HALF AS BADLY as his did. He is sorely missed, the drumming world is a lot worse off without him.

  • I can agree with the above sentence, quote; He is sorely missed, the drumming world is a lot worse off without him.; end quote.

In Sweden we have Per Lindwall as the king of grooves, Janne Schaffer´s drummer!

  • and what about Ola Brunkert ???"the name of the game"??..and all the ABBA songs?? Great groovemaster God bless.

  • Absolutely! Always digged his tasteful and solid drumming in ABBA. A great sense for playing with the melody, as did Jeff.

  • @knikanderrr .... did Jeff play on all the ABBA hits ? I always suspected that was him but I never knew for sure .

  • @sweetfly66 nope, that was Ola Brunkert, another session drummer who IMO had a similar sense of drumming that made songs sound good, just as Jeff. Ola unfortunately also died a few years ago... :(

  • @knikanderrr what abba track did jeff porcaro play in?

  • Äkta funky 70 tals stuk, skulle passa som ledmotiv till en Deckare, Briliant

    Mvh

    Patrick Bovaeng

  • Janne Schaffer - brilliant! Thanks for the video Janne.

  • this was my sadest day August 5.He is greatly missed.

  • Don't forget the poster and the guitarist.

Deserve to get much more recognition in my opinion.

  • Thanks for uploading this, jeff has been the drummer of all times.
