On July 23, 2008, Kern was stopped by security guards in the Oklahoma State Capitol before she brought a loaded gun into the building. The gun was a .380 caliber semiautomatic handgun. Kern had a permit for the gun and claimed she brought it into the building by accident. It was later confirmed that a second incident in which Kern made it into the building with a gun occurred in June 2008. Kern was not charged for either incident.[20]

20,000 people from around the country wrote or called to Sally Kern's office. If those same 20,000 people would write to their city council members, their state representatives, their governonr, their Senators, and member of Congress, demanding marriage equality, there is no question in my mind that gay and lesbian couples would have the right to marry.

Good for Oklahoma's gays and lesbians! Sally Kern is an elected bigot who has exercised hate speech. Nobody's trying to take her right to speech -- even hate speech -- away, but there should be consequences for her bigotry.

The kind of fundamentalist bigotry that Kern represents is a threat to the freedom of all citizens everywhere. The US need a secular, religion-neutral government, not a fundamentalist theocracy!

I am so glad to see this. I was in tears watching this. It is great to see all the suport for the LGBT community in this video. Whish I could have been there and I do not even live in OK but you all have my support and I will be with you in spirit on every rally there!

Glad to see this. I was there and it was so powerful and affirming to hear the "honks of support" and other signs from the passers by. We must not let the hate speech go unchallenged.
